The Epstein Files Prove Nice Girls Lose Under Fascism
2026/02/09
Even with the full list of names in the Epstein files released, we’ve seen no attempt to prosecute, interrogate, or investigate any potential culprits. We need to have a feminist/womanist critique of international law, international media, and the way they’re used to destroy the idea that any girl or woman can be a victim worthy of protection. Lessons From Italy on Anxiety
2026/02/06
This is a long overdue conversation on some of the cities and sites I visited in Italy. I also share how much this trip affected my self-esteem and mental health during a rough time in my career as a journalist. Thanks to Maggie Hollinbeck (M.A., LMFT), a psychotherapist who offers her expert opinion on how travel can be used as therapy. Subscribe to the newsletter or follow at: Threads LinkedIn Pinterest
The Year Rihanna Twerked on Water
2026/01/28
Rihanna released the most-streamed album by a female artist in 2016. Rihanna tied Michael Jackson’s record for the most Top 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 with said album in 2016. That same album became the first album by a Black woman to spend 500 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, only to be beaten nine years later. Most importantly, it became one of the blueprints for multi‐dimensional portrayals of Black women in global music. Why Do People Argue About Washing Meat?
2025/11/27
Thanksgiving's here, and the debate about whether to wash your turkey before cooking keeps coming up. I'm all for cleaning turkey, but I think we're missing the bigger picture of cultural practices and how scientific research gets communicated to different groups. This episode explores the nuances of food handling and food hygiene in the context of race and tradition, especially when considering why Black people are extra conscious about what they put into their bodies. The Laid Off to Content Creator Pipeline
2025/11/25
With everything going on in the federal government and economy, we’re seeing a rise in people sharing their layoff experiences on YouTube and TikTok. This made me wonder why this type of content is trending online, and whether it means this is a more profitable way to monetize content on YouTube (with the product being tears and vulnerability). Let me know if you think so in the comments! Subscribe to the newsletter or follow at: LinkedIn TikTok Pinterest
Laid Off While Living Abroad
2025/10/29
In this episode we hear from a Black woman living in Spain who was unexpectedly laid off from her remote job — and we walk through the consequences few people talk about: losing employer-based health coverage, navigating unemployment while on a residence visa, and the practical steps she took to protect her livelihood and legal status. Whether you’re researching digital nomad visa countries, learning about living abroad as a black woman, or planning to move abroad for work or lifestyle reasons, this conversation offers concrete options, real-world documents, and the emotional truth behind the headlines. Bullies, Politics & the Dangers of Online Groups
2025/10/12
Subscribe to the newsletter or follow at: LinkedIn TikTok Pinterest A group chat tells you everything about power, privilege, and people’s politics. And if you've ever been kicked out of a WhatsApp thread or private Facebook group, the politics of race, class, and gender were probably the reason for that exclusion.I walk through how real-world hierarchies get recreated in small digital spaces: who gets listened to, who gets sidelined, and how so-called "safe spaces" meant to protect Black women can still reproduce misogynoir and patriarchy. We talk about what digital sisterhood can feel like when it holds and when it fractures, why safe spaces online can be both empowering and exhausting, and how surveillance and social policing affect group interactions.Of course, this sociology lesson is brought to you by our dear ancestor, bell hooks!
I told y'all Hollywood's too scared to show us as revolutionaries...
2025/10/07
I said it before (here: https://youtu.be/v4Z0kTEoKKg?si=irp-Y3BuPuOuhUMa) and I'll say it again: Hollywood is not ready to show Black revolutionary women on film. And I wish we would stop praising the filmmakers who sacrifice Black women to make empty points about white supremacy... Why Hollywood Isn't Streaming Assata Shakur
2025/09/29
This episode discusses the lack of official documentaries or biopics on Assata Shakur, a member of the Black Panther Party who passed away in September 2025 while living in exile in Cuba. Why is her story so controversial for mainstream media to cover, given the success of other Hollywood projects like "Judas and the Black Messiah"? Only two documentaries exist about Shakur, and neither are easily accessible or produced with high quality. What would it take to get her story to a wider audience? How to Mourn Our Oppressors: A Philosophical Debate on Charlie Kirk
2025/09/14
What do we owe our oppressors—mourning, accountability, or something else entirely? Let's dissect the ethics of grieving those who have harmed others in this episode. After the shooting death of Charlie Kirk (Founder of Turning Point USA), Americans are examining whether public sorrow for perpetrators of harm advances justice, normalizes harm, or opens space for truth-telling and reconciliation. Disclaimer: This episode includes discussions about sexual assault, murder, and police brutality. Subscribe to the blog or follow at: LinkedIn TikTok Pinterest
