Noemi Weis and Barbara Barsky
2026/10/31
On this episode of Finding Your Bliss, Life Coach and Bliss Expert Judy Librach is joined by Noemi Weiss, award winning writer, director and producer. She’s here to tell us all about her newest documentary about the Christie Gardens Senior Orchestra. Noemi (no-eh-MEE ) Weis is an award-winning writer, director, producer, humanitarian and social-impact advocate who has spent more than two decades telling stories for the big and small screens, from international advertising and commercial productions, to award-winning documentaries that amplify the voices of the world’s most vulnerable. Born in Buenos Aires and educated in Argentina and Canada, Noemi brings an entrepreneurial spirit, a global perspective and a deep commitment to humanity to every project she undertakes. Her films have been seen in more than 100 countries, receiving numerous awards and, most importantly, creating meaningful impact in communities around the world. In 1998, Noemi founded Filmblanc, an international film production company built on a vision that was ahead of its time: bringing the world together through creative collaboration. Long before globalization became a common term and before email transformed international communication, she envisioned a network of producers and creative partners across borders, connecting talent and resources to make it possible for stories to be told anywhere in the world. Filmblanc went on to establish partnerships in more than 20 international markets and successfully deliver productions across continents. With a background spanning advertising, commercials, corporate productions and international service production, Noemi naturally evolved toward documentary filmmaking focused on human rights and social justice. Since 2004, through Filmblanc, she has created and produced films addressing issues including women’s and children’s rights, domestic violence, education, LGBTQ+ rights, youth mental health and social inclusion. Her documentaries have not only garnered international recognition and awards, but have also been used by organizations, educators and communities as tools for dialogue, awareness and change. A multiple award-winning, entrepreneurial and visionary company with a distinguished track record of excellence, Filmblanc continues to create and develop films that promote human rights and social justice. Noemi’s work has received extraordinary recognition. For her film MILK, she received a passionate message of support from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau and was honoured with an invitation to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican in recognition of the impact of her films. She has also been recognized as one of the Top 10 Most Influential Hispanic Canadians, an honour presented by former Toronto Mayor John Tory. Beyond filmmaking, Noemi has been deeply engaged in advancing Canadian creativity and entrepreneurship internationally. She has participated in Team Canada Trade Missions and served as a Business Ambassador of Ontario, promoting Canadian production and creative expertise abroad. Her entrepreneurial achievements have earned her nominations for Woman Entrepreneur of the Year by Export Development Canada, Woman Entrepreneur of the World, as the sole Canadian nominee, and most recently, nominated for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards. Today, Noemi continues to develop and produce films that sit at the intersection of storytelling, human rights and social impact. Whether working with communities, institutions, international partners or filmmakers, her mission remains consistent: to use the power of storytelling to connect people, challenge perceptions and create meaningful change. Noemi is fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish. Also on the program, we have award winning performer Barbara Barsky to tell us her incredible performance in the musical Dancer (A Musical In Ten Furlongs). On this episode of Finding Your Bliss, Celebrity Interviewer Judy Librach is welcoming back Rick Campanelli, Canadian Broadcast Legend and now author of the explosive and unflinchingly candid memoir, Tempted: My Story. Rick Campanelli is one of Canada’s most recognizable TV personalities. After spending nearly a decade with MuchMusic as one of their most popular hosts, he made the leap from the “nation’s music station” to ET Canada, where he covered many of the world’s most glamourous celebrity events from red carpets to revealing interviews with some of the biggest stars. Today, Rick is back on camera, appearing daily as Breakfast Television’s entertainment host and he hosts his own Sunday radio show, CHFI’s Rewind with Rick Campanelli. No matter the stage, Campanelli always brings his natural charm and wit to everything he does. Campanelli’s on-air career started after winning the 1994 MuchMusic Temp contest. His boyish charm and easy-going, up-front style quickly made him a favourite of viewers from coast to coast. From his flying leap off a jagged cliff with Sean Paul, to his dive out of an airplane with the Foo Fighters, to the pounding he took from pro wrestler, Cain, his willingness to go the extra distance speaks volumes about his work ethic and dedication. After nearly 10 years at MuchMusic, Campanelli joined the revered Entertainment Tonight brand with the launch of ET Canada. Co-hosting the program for 12 years, he offered the inside scoop on the latest celebrity gossip, current affairs, and pop culture trends. He has since co-hosted Z(ZEE)103.5’s morning show, where he dug into local and global headlines, as well as exciting entertainment news. He also hosted Food Network Canada’s The Incredible Food Race, a family-oriented series where he presided over exciting cook-off challenges. Campanelli is also the author of the explosive memoir Tempted, that looks beyond his public persona to share the private struggles, mistakes, and experiences that shaped his life behind the scenes. Campanelli is involved with numerous charitable organizations including World Vision Canada, Tuberous Sclerosis, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, McMaster Children’s Hospital, and Kid’s Help Phone. Then, later on in the program we’ll hear Lily Librach and her rendition of Tennessee Whiskey. Brad Bradford is the City Councillor for Ward 19, Beaches – East York. Brad Bradford believes in what used to be called Toronto the Good. And he is passionate that we must work hard to ensure that everyone and that all people can afford a safe, and a good life here. He has a passion for tackling our housing crisis, fighting gridlock, and making our community, streets and neighbourhoods safer. Secondhand Dreamcar and Tracey Erin Smith
2026/10/03
On this episode of Finding Your Bliss, Celebrity Interviewer and Bliss Coach Judy Librach is joined by Dana Wylie and Harry Gregg of Secondhand Dreamcar, an explosive soul/roots/blues band based in Edmonton. One of CKUA radio’s favourite acts, Secondhand Dreamcar saw its debut album Answer The Call landed at Number 6 on the station’s Top 100 albums of 2024. But, the band’s true superpower is as a dynamite live act, having cut its teeth as an ensemble in a 9-month residency at Edmonton’s legendary Blues on Whyte club, and since fostering an Alberta-wide, ever-growing following of devotees who never miss a show. They had a very busy 2025, selling out a two-nighter at Edmonton’s Yardbird Suite and playing a full roster of summer festivals, including the Edmonton Folk Festival and the Calgary Blues Festival. They’ve started off 2026 right, receiving three Canadian Blues Music Awards nominations and a JUNO nomination for Blues Album of the Year, for Answer the Call, and they just finished tracking their second album, which will be out in the Fall. Dana Wylie is a Canadian Blues Music Award nominee, a Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, and – with her roots/soul supergroup, Secondhand Dreamcar – and she’s also a JUNO nominee. She’s a singer of rare gift and a crafter of deeply felt and sharply observed songs, and Penguin Eggs magazine once called her the only artist about whom they have “felt comfortable comparing favourably to Joni Mitchell, in the scope of her talent EVER.” Cutting short a promising career in the Canadian theatre scene at 23, Dana moved to the unlikely locale of Taiwan, where she cut her musical teeth playing with jug bands, blues bands, bluegrass bands and cover bands, singing jazz in hotel lounges, and doing some of the most bizarre corporate gigs you could possibly imagine. Moving to the UK in 2005, she formed her own band there and zig-zagged the country in a Ford Transit van, multiple times over the next five years, releasing three critically-praised albums along the way. She then landed (exhausted) back in Canada in 2010 and enrolled in university to give herself a break. Dana’s 2017 record The Earth That You’re Made Of, earned her a CFMA nomination for Contemporary Singer of the Year, and was described by journalist and programmer Peter North as “one of the finest contemporary roots recordings to have ever been produced in Alberta, period.” She debuted her critically-acclaimed theatrical song-cycle Makings of a Voice in 2021, released her sixth solo album How Much Muscle in early 2023, as well an album of original country duets with Sammy Volkov in 2024, and she received her MA in Music from the University of Alberta that same year. Her band Secondhand Dreamcar’s debut album “Answer the Call" received a 2025 JUNO nomination for Blues Album of the Year and three Canadian Blues Music Awards nominations, including Female Vocalist of the Year for Dana, and their new album “Get Ready” will be released in Fall 2026. Harry Gregg is a producer, engineer and bassist based in Edmonton, AB. Since switching to full time music in 2011, he has produced more than fifty full-length records and recorded and mixed many more albums and singles for artists in a variety of genres. As a producer, he considers it paramount to capture each artist’s individual character at the core of the recordings. Harry has been a partner at the beloved Riverdale Recorders in Edmonton since 2014, alongside the venerable Scott Franchuk. In addition to his studio work, Harry is also very busy as a musician, playing many live shows and on numerous recordings each year. Harry has produced albums for Sammy Volkov (1st Album to ever debut at #1 on the CKUA charts), Braden Gates (2022 CFMA winner for Traditional Album of the Year), Emmet Michael (2022 Edmonton Music Prize Winner), Maddie Storvold, Daniel Gervais, Dana Wylie, Celeigh (kay-lee) Cardinal (2018 WCMA Winner for Indigenous Artist of the Year) and many more, and has performs regularly ...

Her memoir: Fallosophy: My Trip through Life with MS is based on Ardra Shephard’s own advocacy, and life, after doctors told her that she had MS. Those two letters split her life into a Before and After. Ardra confronts the inevitable. There is no cure for her disease. By her mid-thirties, she’s losing the ability to walk, and it’s terrifying. When she starts using mobility aids, she faces feelings of otherness and not belonging like never before. As Ardra’s deepest fears keep coming true, she starts to learn the most important lesson of her life. Having so far survived all of her worst-case scenarios, she begins to realize that a difficult life, doesn’t have to be a joyless life. Ardra says "Fallosophy: My Trip through Life with MS is a screw-you to MS and a refusal to be defined by whatever the world thinks disability is supposed to be”. It isn’t about fighting unwinnable battles with one’s own body or about overcoming impossible odds. There is no known cure for Multiple Sclerosis, but the hope is that, for those who live with MS, this book might take some of the edge off. Fallosophy: My Trip through Life with MS was also nominated for the Ontario Library Association’s Forest of Reading® 2026 Evergreen Award. For more on Finding Your Bliss.
