Greg has been dissecting and practicing Frank Zappa’s Peaches En Regalia for the past few months and he’d like to share what he’s learned, in theory. He’s been recording and cataloging live shows for the past forty years and has decided to gift these recordings to the Internet Archive (link). With over 10,000 shows recorded, this is quite a collection. Nick was out last week because he was at a conference in New Orleans. He’s back to report on all the incredible music he experienced while he was down there. With Nick out of town this week, Jay & Greg decide to capitalize on the occasion and have some long overdue Guitar Talk. They both run through their current/favorite guitars, pedals, and amps. It’s all quiet on the western front this week, as Greg’s internet and cell service were down when we recorded this. He’ll be joining us from Great Wolf Lodge next week, we’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope he has a good internet connection. That leaves Jay & Nick to host this week. Jay’s got a special fondness for mistakes in recordings that were, for some reason, kept in the released version of a song. Jay highlights some of his favorites, and these are really famous songs! They take a careful listen to catch, but you won’t miss them when you hear them again. Jay is out this week, but friend of the show, Wayan Zoey, is joining us to catch up. He recently served as the Production Manager for the Portland Jazz Fest. He shares his experience and some of the music he heard along the way. Greg has spending some time cataloging his vinyl collection on Discogs and has grown a deeper appreciation for the site. The Red Nots played a show at the historic Paradise Rock Club in Boston last week. The 933 capacity theater is now a Live Nation venue and it’s hosted some major acts over its 48 years in operation. Greg also has a Three for Thursday this week. Here’s the deal. This week Greg is traveling for a show, meanwhile both Jay & Nick are sick.  Did they cancel the show this week? Clearly, they did not. Did Jay & Nick deliver a show with audible head colds? Yes, they do. Is GregBot 3000 along for the ride? Without hesitation, absolutely! Jay’s been building guitar pedals from scratch lately and he shares his journey with us. Warning, this is deemed a NERD ALERT as an afterthought. That being said, this is very cool hobby and there’s something magical that happens when you discover how something actually works. This week we are fortunate to be joined by Paul Moffat. Paul is a phenomenal bassist and fulfills the role of Flea in the Red Not Chili Peppers. Equally important, he is the band’s manager. Jay celebrates the life of Bob Weir. Known as the “other one” in the Grateful Dead, Weir had an incredibly unique approach to the guitar. We listen to some tracks and Jay tells us his story.
