The Golden Knights need to handle business tonight versus the last place team in the league  - the Vancouver Canucks. VGK is a heavy favorite to break its five game losing streak. The Olympic Break cannot come soon enough for the reeling Golden Knights.  They lost twice in regulation over the weekend to the Kraken and Ducks.  The lost a pair of four-point divisional games and their stranglehold on the Pacific is starting to dwindle.  VGK lost twice by having to chase the game - so what else is new?  They trailed 3-0 last night at the Pond and 2-0 to the Kraken.  They battled back in both instances before losing the lead.  VGK's Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner are doing all they can to rally the team and will VGK to wins.  But the supporting cast has not been able to contribute. We also suggest VGK move on from goalie coach Sean Burke before or during the break.  They need to do something with goaltending, which has not been good this season. VGK came back from a three-goal deficit in the third period, but couldn't secure a win in the extra period, falling in a shootout for a sixth time.  VGK lost the game 5-4.  They trailed 4-1 after two periods, mostly due to sloppy play, losing board battles and faceoffs along the way.  Bruce Cassidy said he had a film session after the second period to clean up some things.  He said he hadn't done that in a decade.  Reilly Smith started the rally with the team's second shorthanded goal of the season.Ivan Barbashev scored his first goal in 17 game, and Mitch Marner scored the equalizer with less than a minute remaining. Four of the next five games will be played on home ice for the Golden Knights.  They are trying to regain momentum before the Olympic Break.  VGK kicks off the stretch against the Dallas Stars, who are 10-3-3 against the Pacific Division.   They come into town winning two straight and three of their last four. We could see Adin Hill in net tonight for VGK. We will see how much Bruce Cassidy tinkers with the lineup in tonight's game.  He is trying to find the right line combinations for the Golden Knights.  We talk about whether Ivan Barbashev is on the trade block. Bruce Cassidy demanded an early start for the Golden Knights in Montreal and VGK delivered an early goal within the first ten minutes.  But they relinquished the lead in the second period and had to battle to battle to force overtime on a second Pavel Dorofeyev goal.  In the OT period Jake Evans scored the walk off goal for the Habs in a 3-2 final.  Goaltending was at a premium Akira Schmid stopped 23 of 26 shots in the game.  Montreal's Jakob Dobe had 32 saves.  There was no shortage of stellar saves.  We discuss VGK losing to better opponents this season and we have fan comments about Adin Hill and his recent struggles.  Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Bruce Cassidy said he's hoping a "workday" in Montreal Monday will help to produce positive results in tonight's game against the Habs. VGK studied little film from Sunday's debacle in Ottawa, in which they lost 7-1.  To rebound tonight, VGK will have to get an early lead.  Cassidy is concerned about how the team plays its first ten minutes. The Golden Knights will try to avenge a 4-1 loss to the Canadiens in Las Vegas earlier this season.  Mark Stone said Montreal is a very fast team and if you turn it over they will make you pay.  We also talk about whether Cassidy is jumbling the lines too much at this point in the season.  And we have our Locks, Props and Chance for tonight's matchup. VGK ran into a buzzsaw in Ottawa Sunday, as they were routed by the Ottawa Senators. VGK had no response and the Sens piled it on with three goals in the second and third period.  The lone goal was scored by newcomer Rasmus Anderson for VGK.  It came with about 5-minutes remaining in the game so the Golden Knights avoided the shutout. VGK failed to capitalize on a 5 on 3 advantage and Mitch Marner never put a shot on goal on a penalty shot. VGK goaltending was not strong in the game and we wonder if Hill is lazy or injured.  The goaltending debate has intensified. Mark Stone stepped up in a big way to lead the Golden Knights to a 6-3 victory in Mitch Marner's return to Toronto.  Stone extended his scoring streak to 14 games with two goals and an assist.  The Golden Knights scored twice early starting with Jack Eichel's goal just 1:06 into the game.  Eichel has a scoring streak of eleven games. A late, third-period comeback by the Golden Knights fell short Thursday night in VGK's 4-3 loss in Boston.  The Golden Knights dug a 4 goal deficit after the Bruins scored twice on a power play in which Tomas Hertl was called for a double minor high sticking penalty. VGK trailed 4-0 after two periods, but VGK had a three-goal outburst in the third period, one in which they outshot Boston 20-5.  VGK plays in Toronto tonight in the much-anticipated return of Mitch Marner to the city he played for.  A lot of boos are expected, after a small contingent of boo-birds got after Marner everytime he touched the puck last week in Las Vegas.  The Golden Knights came back in that game from two goals down on four occasions to pull off a 6-5 overtime win.  We also have our WTF segment with your comments. The Golden Knights will begin a pivotal road trip in Boston tonight with or without new addition Rasmus Andersson, who was having immigration issues earlier this week. It was a battle between VGK and Boston for Andersson and we could see some hard feelings by the Bruins.  This will be the front end of a back-to-back for the Golden Knights, who will try to not look ahead to the rematch with Toronto.  A report surfaced yesterday that said Bill Foley is selling off 10% stake in the club.  And, we have our locks, props and chance for tonight's game. VGK will miss six players until after the Olympic break according to GM Kelly McCrimmon. Four players have been called up to replace them, but VGK is going to need role players who also can get into the scoring column.  Missing are Bret Howden, Colton Sissons, Beandon Saad, Carter Hart, Brayden McNabb and William Karlsson, who has been out since November.  VGK is also awaiting the arrival of Rasmus Andersson from Canada, as he awaits immigration papers, after being acquired this past week. VGK had its win streak snapped at seven games after going 1 for 7 on the power play against a struggling Flyers team, which came into the game with a six-game losing streak.  The Flyers had two breakaway goals by Travis Konecny off turnovers by Tomas Hertl and Jack Eichel.  VGK's lone goal came on Hertl's 20th goal of the season.  The Golden Knights played "casual" according to head coach Bruce Cassidy.  We talk about the EDGE stats for new acquisition Rasmus Andersson and he will add offensive punch.  Kelly McCrimmon met with the media and talked about the trade and why VGK mad moves before the Olympic break.  Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Big trade for VGK - dealpoints:  The Flames retain 50% of Andersson's contract.  Zach Whitecloud is traded to Calgary, VGK gives up the 2027 first round draft pick, a conditional 2nd round pick.  And, VGK gives up the rights to Abram Weibe.  The trade also reunites Rasmussen with former Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin.   Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. VGK broke open a close game in the third period by scoring five straight goals against the leg-weary Nashville Predators in a 7-2 romp.  It was VGK's seventh consecutive win.  After Nashville broke out in front in the first period 1-0 on a Luke Evangelista goal, VGK began its onslaught with the first of seven straight goals, starting off with Alexander Holtz' second goal of the season. Shea Theodore scored from the point to give VGK its first lead in the second period.  That was followed by Dorofeyev, Stone, Reinhardt, Marner and Kolesar goals.  Mark Stone extended his point streak to 11 games with 10 goals and 8 assists 18 points.
