Mark McNees hosts Tim and Jamie, FSU alumni and founders of Flip Pick, on the InNOLEvation® Mindset podcast to discuss their guitar pick system that lets players rotate a pick out of the way for fingerstyle and back for strumming, improving speed, grip, and reducing dropped picks while helping users with dexterity issues. They share how the idea began with a quick 3D-printed prototype, evolved through many iterations, and shifted from a “clever gadget” to a mission-driven product in response to customer stories. The conversation covers entrepreneurship lessons in execution, patience, communication, and building a feedback culture, as well as their validation process, manufacturing challenges, packaging pivots, and partnerships with Rapid Press and D’Andrea/Del Mar for higher-quality production. They also describe how they created the free Flip Pick Companion app with ChatGPT, why they chose an app over a web solution, and how AI became a force multiplier for their small team.
