Description

Welcome to The Naked Podcast. Where one powerful question guides every conversation: “Is there a time in your life when everything changed?” Here, you’ll hear the honest, unedited stories of people from around the world—moments of loss, love, breakthrough, and becoming. Stories that remind us we’re never as alone as we think. Along the way, I share Naked Notes—personal pieces I’ve written about life, love, and the messy middle. And every fifth episode, my husband Gregg joins me as we revisit the times when everything shifted in our own marriage—the hard seasons, the healing, and the hope that came from it. As Brené Brown says: “Vulnerability is not weakness, it’s our most accurate measure of courage.” This is our space to practice courage, connection, and the kind of truth-telling that changes us all. 🤍🤍 Janelle

Ep 72 - Isabella on A Place to Belong: Queer Activism for Schools - Belonging
2026/10/25
In this episode I have an incredible conversation Isabella, the founder of Queer Ed for Schools, a campaign she started to help create safer, more inclusive spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ young people. Growing up in a small town, she's recognized how important it is for young people to have access to education, community, and places where they know they belong. We chat about what inspired her to start the campaign, the challenges young people face, finding the confidence to use your voice, and how the generations before us have helped make change possible today. One of the things I loved most about this conversation was Isabella's belief that everyone deserves to feel they have a place in this world. And rather than waiting for someone else to create that space, she's working towards creating it herself. At just 15, Isabella has such a wonderful perspective on what kindness, understanding, and community can look like. I loved hearing her ideas for the future and being reminded that you don't have to wait until you're older to make a difference. You can connect with Isabella @queer.ed.for.schools
Ep 71 - Nicole on Life Beyond Alcohol: Breaking Patterns & Rediscovering Herself - Identity
2026/10/19
In this episode of Naked, I sit down with Nicole Cameron, a women's coach and movement teacher, to talk about her journey with alcohol, what led her to stop drinking, and the beautiful and sometimes challenging experience of getting to know yourself all over again. Nicole shares so openly about the moment she decided to make a change and how that decision became the beginning of discovering parts of herself she hadn't connected with in years. I especially loved hearing her describe the moment she caught herself laughing out loud again and realizing just how much she'd missed that feeling. What began as her own journey of finding healing beyond alcohol eventually led Nicole to helping other women better understand themselves, reconnect with their bodies, and move beyond the patterns that keep them stuck. Our conversation takes us into the ways our experiences shape us, the habits we carry without always realizing it, and what can happen when we begin to see ourselves a little differently. As Nicole approaches 60, I love her curiosity about life and all the things she's still discovering about herself. A beautiful reminder that no matter our age or what we've lived through, there's always more of ourselves to discover. Ep 70 - What Happens When Purity Culture Meets Marriage? - Relationship.
2026/10/12
There are so many parts of being a woman that we don't always talk about. The beautiful parts, the messy parts, the things we carry, and the experiences that change us. In this episode, I read a chapter from SHE, the book I'm currently writing. A collection of stories about womanhood and the countless experiences that shape our lives. From being taught to protect our purity to suddenly being expected to embrace our sexuality within marriage, this piece explores the unspoken rules that come with saying "I do." The shame, the expectations, and the complicated relationship so many women develop with their own bodies and desires. I think the more we share our stories, the more we begin to understand each other, even when our experiences are different. And maybe that's where a little more kindness begins. In how we see ourselves, how we see each other, and remembering that we're all in this together.
Ep 69 - Kiara on Finding Out About Her Infertility at 18 - Motherhood
2026/10/05
In this episode of Naked, I sit down with Kiara for a conversation about infertility, grief, identity and the pressure of being “the happy one.” At 18, Kiara learned she had MRKH syndrome and began facing the possibility that she may not be able to have children of her own. She shares what it was like to carry that into adulthood and marriage, and how she and her husband have learned to live with questions that don’t always have clear answers. We also talk about busyness, rest, and what happens when we finally get quiet enough to hear what’s going on underneath it all. A conversation about infertility, motherhood, grief, joy and learning that a diagnosis can be part of your story without becoming all of who you are.
Ep 68 - Michelle on The Art of Aging, Letting Go & Becoming More Yourself
2026/09/28
In this first episode of the new season of Naked, I sit down with Michelle, a 62-year-old burlesque performer, for an honest conversation about womanhood, aging and self-love. We talk about self-acceptance, body image, identity and what happens when the roles that have defined us begin to change. Michelle shares how she learned to let go throughout the different seasons of motherhood, and how that shaped the way she approached her children growing up and eventually leaving home. We also talk about coming home to yourself, finding purpose in a new season of life, genuine connection and learning to love all the parts of who you are. A conversation about motherhood, empty nest, aging, identity, self-discovery and becoming more fully yourself.
Ep 67 - What Judgment Is Really About
2026/09/21
I didn’t expect a sea of women dressed in purple to make me look so closely at the way I speak to myself. But that’s exactly what happened. On International Women’s Day in Costa Rica, I found myself surrounded by women hugging, celebrating and standing together. I remember looking around and thinking: we’re all on the same team. It made me think about judgment, how quickly we can judge other women, but also how much of that can come from the way we judge ourselves. That realization started something personal for me. I began paying closer attention to my own inner voice and even started leaving little post-it notes with words I needed to hear. Slowly, I began to see how choosing more kindness and compassion toward myself was changing the way I saw other people too. In this episode, I talk about what that experience taught me about womanhood, connection and seeing ourselves in one another. I also share some exciting news about Purple Threads and how you can now add your own note to the growing collection, wherever you are in the world. Maybe the more compassion we learn to give ourselves, the more we have to give each other. What would you tell your younger self? 💜 https://janellenordin.com
Ep 66 - Naked is Changing: She is Coming
2026/08/05
In this solo episode, I share why Naked is beginning a new season focused solely on women. From meeting the boldest parts of myself to creating Purple Threads, this episode is about womanhood, storytelling and what shifts when we recognize ourselves in one another, softening the way we see ourselves and each other. I’m also sharing some very exciting news about heading to the Edinburgh Fringe—eek! And how it all connects to this new chapter of Naked.
Ep 65 - Naked Note: Let Go Love
2026/01/21
In today’s Naked Note, I’m talking about the part of motherhood no one really prepares you for: watching your child become independent, and feeling the distance that comes with it. Letting go doesn’t mean you lose them. It means you lose the illusion that you get to keep them the way you’ve always known them. This one is about grief, love, and learning to release.
Ep 64 - Lexi Part 2: Leaving the Nest
2026/01/14
In Part 2 of my conversation with Lexi, we talk about what it really looks like to step into a life of your own—choosing love, choosing change, and choosing a future you didn’t see coming. Lexi shares how listening to her intuition led her to a country she never expected to call home… and into a joyful, simple beach life that fits her in the best way. We also talk openly about the awkwardness of a new season: the stretching, the tenderness, the learning-each-other-again part of a mother-daughter relationship when the “kid” isn’t a kid anymore. Honest, vulnerable, and full of heart—this one is a special conversation. If Naked has felt like a conversation you want to stay part of, come join me on Patreon. Ep 63 - One Diagnosis, a Thousand Small Miracles
2026/01/07
In this episode, Wendy shares how she went from a conventional life in Canada to a season of full-time travel and deep personal growth. When her husband was diagnosed with cancer, everything shifted. Wendy talks honestly about what it was like to let go of the script they thought they were supposed to follow, step into a nomadic life, and start asking, “What if we did this differently?” She also shares how molecular hydrogen water became part of their health journey, and how it became a catalyst for drastic change in their lives. At its heart, Wendy’s story is a reminder that resilience and courage are built one choice at a time—and that our lives can be completely reshaped by the way we see them. Ep 62 - US: Parenting Through the Hard Parts
2025/12/03
In this US episode, Gregg and I open up about parenting through one of the hardest chapters of our story with Elli, what grounded us, what we’re proud of, and how it’s changed the way we show up as parents today. Elli joins us at the end to ask a few questions of her own, and it’s tender, honest, and very us. For anyone walking through a heavy season with someone they love, I hope this makes you feel a little less alone. Note: this episode includes references to sexual trauma and anxiety. Ep 61 - Naked Note: Patient Love
2025/11/26
Last week, Elli shared her story. This week, I’m sharing mine — the view from the doorway as a mom watching her girl fade into the dark and trying not to be swallowed by fear in the process. In this Naked Notes episode, I talk honestly about the helplessness, the panic, the urge to fix, and the slow, painful work of learning to lead with patient love instead of anxious control. If you’re parenting a child through trauma, mental health, or a season that feels impossibly heavy, I hope this feels like a hand on your back reminding you that you’re not alone. Ep 60 - Elli’s Story: Learning to Trust Again After Sexual Abuse
2025/11/19
(Content note: includes discussion of sexual abuse and trauma.) In this episode, I sit down with my sixteen-year-old daughter, Elli, to talk about something we don’t often hear directly from teenagers: what happens when fear takes over your life after trauma. Elli shares how being sexually abused changed the way her brain worked, how it made the world feel unsafe, and how she began to pull away from people who loved her because letting anyone close felt terrifying. She also shares the small, brave steps she’s taken to walk herself back toward trust — choosing to stretch her comfort zone, say yes to new experiences, and slowly build a life that isn’t ruled by fear. This isn’t a conversation about having it all figured out. It’s about what it looks like, in real time, for a sixteen-year-old to tell her story, name her fear, and keep choosing healing anyway. Ep 59 - Naked Note: I Forgot My Why
2025/11/12
In this solo episode, I’m sitting with the truth of feeling unmotivated lately. Sometimes we enter seasons where the drive fades and we start questioning why we do the things we do. For me, this week was a gentle reminder to come back to my heart and remember what’s real. I didn’t start writing or hosting this podcast for validation or metrics or to prove anything. I do it because it feels like the truest expression of who I am, because it brings me back to myself, to connection, to meaning. And that, on its own, is enough. Ep 58 - Letting Go to Begin Again
2025/11/05
In this episode, Sarah Heath, a former pastor turned narrative strategist, opens up about what it really means to begin again. She shares how a season of burnout led her to step back from what she once knew and rebuild life from the inside out. Her work restoring her Airstream, Gidget, became a quiet metaphor for her own process, patching what was worn, honoring what could be saved, and creating space for something new to take shape. Together, we talk about how letting go can make room for creativity, connection, and a deeper sense of purpose. It’s an honest, soul-filled exchange, one that reminds us we’re never done evolving, and that sometimes the bravest thing we can do is simply follow where our heart is leading.
