Description
To follow are snippets that accompany the Forty Years of 2SER exhibition. This is only a small taste of what the station has achieved over its time - but it should wet your whistle to begin. Radio with a Point. Real Radio. Yum Cha for your ears. 40 years of Stories, Ideas and Music. The interviews and series were produced and edited by Liz Giuffre and Jess Klajman. We recorded on the lands of the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation, and pay respect and acknowledge them as the traditional custodians of this land.

Stephen Crane - specialist audio archivist (and legend) talks fixing old tape
2024/04/30
2SER’s 40th Anniversary Pop Up Archiving Day
On 28th of September, 2019, we held a "Pop Up Archiving Day" as part of 2SER's 40th birthday celebrations. The idea was to invite anyone with 2ser related memorabilia to join us at Studios 301 for an afternoon of nostalgia as we worked to fill gaps in the stations historical archive. Teaching us about his awesome craft was Stephen Crane, Studio 301's chief conservator and international audio legend, as well as telling some excellent stories of literally saving archival tape from shitty situations. This podcast is the conversation in full, hosted by then Station Manager Martin Walters, and station archivist Liz Giuffre asking Stephen the questions. Recorded on Gadigal Land and supported by a City of Sydney Grant and Studios 301, we're releasing this audio as part of our 45th birthday celebrations (where did the time go?!?).

1991 Radiothon - support from the Virgin Megastore!
2022/10/06
Listen to the Virgin Megastore and some other wonders of the past give us their best. Sadly, that $250 gift voucher is now worth more in the feels than it is in your pocket, though.

Radiothon 1991 - Vote 1, 2SER
2022/10/06
Come for the nostalgia, stay for the dodgy but well meaning impersonations. Written and spoken by 2SER (and spoken very very fast).

The Dream Team
2020/02/17
By the time the station finally launched on October 1, 1979, it was a (dream) team effort. Featured here are some of those legends, and reflecting on that time is founding station manager Keith Jackson.

Helping train the (country) music industry
2020/02/16
Community radio is an essential way that community musics travel. This image shows 2SER’s country music community literally on the move as part of a short lived but well loved ‘traveling fan’ experience in the early 1980s. Although they don’t happen anymore (or at least, at the moment!), the importance of reaching out across the community for country and other musics remains. Here 2SER and industry legend Barbara Morison explains more.
