Then Averyn tells the true story of Ali Kemp. Ali Kemp was a 19 year old Kansas State University student who was killed while working her summer job at the local Leawood community pool. Leawood, KS is a notoriously safe suburban neighborhood and Averyn knows this because she lived there growing up and her parents still live there to this day. This week Vonia tells the story of Melissa Dohme and her brutal experience that led her to the love of her life. Spoiler it was the firefighter / EMT who saved her life at the scene of the crime. We are dying over this story. When the doctors told her she would likely never talk or walk again, Melissa only heard her own voice saying...YES I WILL! And my goodness, she did and while thanking the first responders who saved her. Spark flew! This courageous story ends well.
