Life of Elisha || Part 5: “LOOK AGAIN!” || Pastor Steve Garcia
2026/10/04
What do you do when all you can see is the problem in front of you? In 2 Kings 6, Elisha's servant wakes up to discover an enemy army surrounding the city. From everything he can see, the situation is hopeless. But Elisha sees something his servant doesn't. He prays: “LORD, please open his eyes and let him see.” Suddenly, the servant sees the mountain filled with horses and chariots of fire. The enemy hasn't disappeared. The circumstances haven't changed. But now he can see that God has been there all along.  In Part 5 of The Life of Elisha, Pastor Steve Garcia walks us through three remarkable scenes from 2 Kings 6 that teach us to keep our eyes open to God's care, presence, and grace: Maybe you're carrying something you've decided is too small to bother God with. Maybe you're facing something so overwhelming that you can't see a way forward. Or maybe you've been hurt and are more interested in winning the fight than responding with the grace of Jesus. Ask God to open your eyes. Whatever lies ahead this week, keep your eyes open: “Those who are for us are more than those who are against us.” — 2 Kings 6:16  - NEXT STEPS  Looking to take your next step?  We want to help! Life of Elisha || Part 4: Elisha heals Naaman || Pastor Steve Garcia
2026/09/27
Naaman had almost everything. He was powerful, respected, wealthy, and commander of a great army. But there was one problem none of his success could solve: he had leprosy. When an unlikely servant girl points him toward Elisha, Naaman begins a journey that will lead to much more than physical healing. But first, he has to overcome something else that is destroying him from the inside: Pride. In Part 4 of The Life of Elisha, Pastor Steve Garcia walks us through the remarkable story of Naaman in 2 Kings 5. Naaman almost walked away from the very thing he desperately needed because God's answer didn't come on his terms. But when he humbled himself, changed direction, and obeyed, his life was transformed.  He came looking for a cure—and discovered the one true God. Maybe the greatest question isn't whether you have everything figured out. It's whether your heart is moving toward God. #LifeOfElisha #2Kings5 #Naaman #Elisha #BibleStudy #ChristianSermon #FaithInGod #Humility #Obedience #TrustGod #SpiritualGrowth #GodsHealing #JesusChrist #SunriseChurch #PastorSteveGarcia - NEXT STEPS  Looking to take your next step?  We want to help! Life of Elisha || Part 3: “I AM ENOUGH!” || Pastor Steve Garcia
2026/09/20
Our culture loves to tell us, “You are enough.” It sounds encouraging. But is it true? Jesus said, “Apart from me you can do nothing.”  Scripture doesn't teach us to become more self-sufficient—it teaches us to recognize our need for God. The better declaration is: I am NOT enough—but God is MORE than enough. In Part 3 of The Life of Elisha, Pastor Steve Garcia unpacks four very different situations in 2 Kings 4 that expose the limits of human strength: A widow faces overwhelming debt.  A woman encounters an inability she cannot overcome.  A group of prophets discovers poison in their food.  And a small offering of bread isn't nearly enough to feed everyone. Each situation reveals the same truth: God doesn't ask us to do what only He can do. He asks us to faithfully respond with what He's placed in our hands and trust Him with the results. And ultimately, every miracle in this chapter points us toward something even greater: Jesus did for us what we could never do for ourselves. We couldn't pay the debt of our sin, free ourselves from its slavery, overcome death, or make ourselves right with God. So God provided what we could never provide on our own. I can't save myself—but God can.  - NEXT STEPS  Looking to take your next step?  We want to help! Life of Elisha || Part 2: Miracle of Water in Edom || Pastor Steve Garcia
2026/09/13
How do you respond when life suddenly goes sideways? When the pressure rises, the answers disappear, and circumstances feel out of control, our natural response may be to worry, panic, blame, or assume there’s nothing we can do.  In this second message from a series about The Life of Elisha, Pastor Steve Garcia unpacks how Elisha shows us another way.  Three kings find themselves stranded in enemy territory without water and facing what looks like certain disaster. While they respond with fear and desperation, Elisha responds with faith—and his response gives us a practical roadmap for facing the crises in our own lives. Crisis may be unavoidable, but coming unglued doesn’t have to be. Whatever crisis you're facing, remember Elisha's words: “This is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD.” — 2 Kings 3:18  - NEXT STEPS  Looking to take your next step?  We want to help! Life of Elisha || Part 1: Call of Elisha || Pastor Steve Garcia
2026/09/06
Is Jesus the center of your life—or has following Him become something you simply fit into it? When Elijah called Elisha to follow him, Elisha didn’t cautiously test out his new calling. He burned his plows, left his old life behind, and went all in. His response gives us a powerful picture of the wholehearted devotion God desires from us. In Part 1 of The Life of Elisha, we discover that following God is more than something we add to our lives. God wants our complete devotion—and then He wants to use our lives to bring His presence and influence into the world around us. Jesus doesn’t invite us to casually include Him in our lives. He calls us to surrender our lives, follow Him wherever He leads, and represent Him wherever He places us. The question is: Does Jesus have your whole heart—or just part of it? 📖 This Week: 1 Kings 19:19–21; 2 Kings 2  - NEXT STEPS  Looking to take your next step?  We want to help! For the One || Part 5: For The Day to Day || Pastor John Hill
2026/08/30
Who really changes the world? Jesus didn’t change the world by building a platform. He changed the world by building people. He formed ordinary disciples, empowered them with His Spirit, and sent them to make disciples who would make disciples. In the final message of For the One, Pastor John Hill challenges us to never be content with content only and take your next step to becoming a participation in the mission of Jesus. You don’t need a platform, title, or extraordinary ability to make a difference in the world. You only need to become faithful where Jesus has already sent you. “Everyday disciples make disciples every day.”  - NEXT STEPS  Looking to take your next step?  We want to help! For the One || Part 4: For The World || Pastor Steve Garcia
2026/08/23
What if God's heart for the world begins with simply opening our eyes to the people already around us? In Part 4 of For the One, Pastor Steve Garcia takes us to John 4, where Jesus intentionally travels through Samaria—a place most Jews avoided—and begins a conversation with one Samaritan woman.  What starts small eventually opens the door for an entire community to encounter Jesus. You don't have to move across the world to begin living on mission. Sometimes it starts with crossing the street, beginning a conversation, or seeing someone differently. Jesus truly is the Savior of the world. The question is whether we're willing to follow Him wherever He leads.  - NEXT STEPS  Looking to take your next step?  We want to help! For the One || Part 3: For The Neighborhood || Pastor Steve Garcia
2026/08/16
What if the person God wants to help is already standing right in front of you? It's easy to care about people in theory. It's much harder when loving someone interrupts our plans, stretches our resources, or asks us to get involved.  In Mark 6, Jesus and His disciples encounter thousands of people in need—and their very different responses reveal something about our own hearts. In Part 3 of For the One, Pastor Steve Garcia challenges us to confront three common excuses that limit our love for others. While the disciples saw an inconvenience, Jesus saw people who needed compassion. And instead of allowing His disciples to send the problem away, Jesus invited them to become part of the solution. This message reminds us that God doesn't need us to have unlimited time, resources, or ability. He simply asks us to place what we already have in His hands and allow Him to use it. Maybe instead of asking, "Who's going to do something about this?" we need to begin asking: "What if I am the someone God just sent?" For the One || Part 2: For The Next Generation || Pastor Steve Garcia
2026/08/09
Who invested in your faith? Every one of us can probably point to someone who encouraged us, challenged us, prayed for us, or helped us take our next step with Jesus. The question is: Who are you investing in? In Part 2 of our series, For the One, Pastor Steve Garcia shows us that Jesus didn't see the next generation as a problem to solve—He saw them as people worth investing in. While many picture Jesus' disciples as older, seasoned men, Scripture paints a different picture. Jesus intentionally called and developed young men, equipping them to carry the gospel to the world. From an unexpected conversation about the Temple tax in Matthew 17, we discover God's heart for generational discipleship and the incredible responsibility each believer has to pass on their faith. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, mentor, teacher, coach, small group leader, or simply someone who loves Jesus, this message will challenge you to invest in the generation coming behind you. If this message encouraged you, be sure to Like, Subscribe, and Share it with someone who is investing in the next generation—or someone who needs encouragement to begin. #ForTheOne #NextGeneration #SunriseChurch #Discipleship #Matthew17 #Legacy #ChristianLeadership #Faith #BibleTeaching #MakeDisciples - NEXT STEPS  Looking to take your next step?  We want to help! For The One || Part 1: For the Broken || Pastor Steve Garcia
2026/08/02
Have you ever felt stuck? Maybe you've spent years battling the same addiction, carrying the same hurt, wrestling with the same regret, or believing you'll never truly change. You aren't alone—and more importantly, you aren't beyond the reach of Jesus. In the opening message of our new series, For the One, Pastor Steve Garcia takes us to John 5, where Jesus meets a man who had been unable to walk for 38 years. While everyone else saw another hopeless case, Jesus saw someone worth pursuing. His question still echoes today: "Do you want to get well?" (John 5:6) This message reminds us that lasting freedom isn't found in better circumstances, stronger willpower, or temporary solutions. It's found in Jesus Christ, who still seeks out the broken, offers real hope, and invites us into a completely new life. Whether you're carrying pain, struggling with addiction, battling shame, or simply feeling spiritually exhausted, this message is an invitation to stop looking for healing in empty places and begin walking with the One who can truly make you whole. If this message encouraged you, be sure to Like, Subscribe, and Share it with someone who needs hope today. Need prayer or want to take your next step?
