Saturday Morning Coffee for Saturday, October 17, 2026
2026/10/17
Welcome to Saturday Morning Coffee for October 17, 2026! Win free coffee for a month!!  See Contest details below!!Reese and James were off last week, but are glad to be back this week with another fresh-brewed episode of Saturday Morning Coffee! This week we're joined on the program by Mark Burkhold, who is running to be the next Comptroller General for the State of South Carolina!  Mike shares with us some of the things that he's learned since he started digging into the accounting practices of our State government, and some of his ideas for increasing the transparency and accountability of our various state agencies, and of state government generally. Reese and James also discuss a heroic act of doing the right thing that we witnessed this week by the Girl's Cross Country Track Team from Camus High School in Washington State, who chose to disqualify themselves, and not compete, if they were going to be forced to compete with a biological male. We also discuss recent events in Virginia, where the newly elected Democratic Governor, Abigail Spanberger, fired the entire Parole Board for the State of Virginia, and replaced them with a new Board "more in keeping" with the purposes of the Parole Board, a new Board that has dramatically increased the rate at which VIOLENT and REPEAT OFFENDERS are being released from jail in Virginia. AND - as if all that weren't enough -- we announce a contest this week.  You'll have to listed to get the full details on the contest - think of it as a cross between a "word problem" from math class, and a great philosophical question about how long it would take James Bierley to drive down a road covered with 40 trillion One Dollar bills, representing our national debt...  so listen closely, and send us your answer, and if Reese and James pick your answer as the best, you'll win a $150 Starbucks gift card (or Dunkin' Donuts, if you prefer!). Find our more about Mike Burkhold here:      https://www.burkhold.net/ Thanks for listening to Saturday Morning Coffee!  Please support our sponsors and thank them for sponsoring Saturday Morning Coffee!    Conway Ford:        (843) 587-6371    Boyd Law Group:  (843) 315-3525    RT Exteriors:          (843) 582-0638 If you want to share comments / questions, reach us by e-mail: reeseboydsmc [at] gmail.com -- or on the WhatsApp app: @reeseboyd If you want to enter our contest give-away this week, send your entries to the mailbag e-mail address: reeseboydsmc [at] gmail.com Y'all enjoy the rest of your weekend, have a great week, and be blessed!   Bests,Reese, James and the Saturday Morning Coffee Team Proverbs 3:5-6>
