We’ve received a lot of great advice from friends and family as we prep to welcome our first baby! One of our friends told us about cord blood storage - something we knew nothing about. After looking into it, we decided to hop on a chat with Dr. Jaime Shamonki, Chief Medical Officer at Cord Blood Registry, to talk all about the science and the why behind collecting and storing our baby’s cord blood and tissue.

Dr. Vora is a holistic psychiatrist, acupuncturist, and yoga teacher. She takes a functional medicine approach to mental health—considering the whole person and addressing imbalance at the root. Dr. Vora received her B.A. from Yale University and her M.D. from Columbia University, and she is board-certified in psychiatry and integrative holistic medicine.

For some real, non-sugarcoated advice on the messiness of motherhood, we chat with Aleen Dreksler, co-founder and CEO of Betches Media!

Our friend, Jeff Ullrich, joins us to answer our questions about autism. April is Autism Awareness Month and we’re excited to understand more from Jeff, who learned that he was autistic in January 2020, at the age of 45.

Orion Jean is an 11-year old who, in July 2020, was selected as the National Kindness Speech Contest Winner. Upon winning, he created his own "Race to Kindness" events to help spread kindness around the world, including collecting 100,000 meals for food-insecure families, and collecting 500,000 books for kids in book deserts!

Last week, Linda got to sit down with mama Scott, Hanna and April to ask them anything that came to mind about motherhood. Now it’s Drew’s turn! We get to chat with Papa Scott, Wes and Conor (Drew’s brother-in-laws) to pick their brains about what it takes to dad, how becoming a parent transformed their outlook on life and letting kids make mistakes.

With less than two months to go until baby arrives, it’s time to soak up some real, raw advice about being a mom, parenting with our partners and… how much birthing is going to hurt! I gather mama Scott and two of my sisters, Hanna and April — who are all at very different stages of mumming — and chat about whatever comes to mind when it comes to having a baby.

There’s a lot that we need to care about and sometimes it can seem a bit daunting… and even shameful, if we don’t know enough about the things we should know about! One area we have set out to learn more about is how the heck government works and how can we not feel so helpless? That’s where Ben Sheehan comes in. His goal is to make regular civic participation — even beyond voting — a regular part of all of our daily lives, like flossing our teeth -- we do it a little bit, every day, and it's good for our overall long-term health (both individually and as a country)

We’re so happy to be experiencing a birth class as deep as this one. When researching various classes, we weren’t sure what to look for beyond laboring positions and pain management (which she gets into as well and are super important!). So when we signed up for Dr. Britta Bushnell’s Childbirth Class, which covers topics far beyond the technical aspects of birth, we immediately felt this was just what we needed. It has helped us recognize and embrace all the transformations we’re going through individually and as a couple.

Conversations on this podcast have taught us sooo many things. Yes, even how to breathe properly!!! Patrick McKeown is an international breathing expert and author based in Galway, Ireland. Since 2002, he has worked with thousands of clients, including elite military special forces (SWAT), and Olympic coaches and athletes. We chat with Patrick about the ways we’ve been breathing incorrectly and what techniques we can use to improve concentration, focus and quality sleep!

Our work styles, our pace, the way we like to socialize… we don’t want to say the typical “opposites attract” thing, but for us, sometimes it really feels that way!
