• Understanding postmarks, mailing recommendations, and delivery deadlines.
• Verifying official ballot drop boxes and in-person return options.
• Tracking your mail ballot and responding to questions from election officials.
• Michigan’s October registration and early voting dates.
• Planning for transportation, accessibility, and voting in person.

Mail Ballots 2026: USPS Rules Blocked, but Mail Delays Still Matter
2026/09/18
The proposed new USPS mail ballot requirements will not apply during the 2026 election but regular mail delays and postmark problems remain concerns for voters.
In this episode of the Vote Voiced Podcast, Donna Miller explains:
• What the Supreme Court decided on September 14, 2026
• Why the USPS stopped work on its proposed ballot information system
• What the Court did and did not decide
• Why voters should still return mail ballots early
• What a new GAO report reveals about mail delivery delays
• How to verify ballot deadlines and authorized return locations
• What voters should know about AI-generated election deepfakes
• Why Vote Voiced remains firmly nonpartisan
The proposed USPS system would have required election officials to submit ballot envelope designs for approval, use voter specific barcodes and upload certain voter information to a federal portal.
The Supreme Court left the preliminary injunction blocking those requirements in place, and USPS subsequently confirmed that the requirements will not be enforced during the 2026 federal election.
However, the court ruling did not resolve ordinary mail delays.
The Government Accountability Office reports that USPS has added one or two days to some expected delivery times and has missed most First Class Mail performance targets since 2022.
VOTER REMINDER:
If you vote by mail, return your ballot early. Verify your exact deadline, signature requirements and authorized return options through your official state or local election authority.
Use an official ballot tracking service when one is available.
The episode also examines a preliminary federal court ruling involving Montana’s election deepfake law and explains why voters should verify dramatic political images, videos and audio recordings before sharing them.

FACT-CHECK NOTE — SEPTEMBER 18, 2026
The proposed new USPS mail-ballot requirements will not apply during the 2026 election. The Supreme Court’s emergency order did not permanently prohibit USPS from proposing similar rules in the future.
The Montana deepfake ruling is preliminary, applies to the parties involved in that lawsuit and does not create one nationwide rule for election-related artificial intelligence.

Your Vote Ready Guide 2026: Register, Verify, Plan & Vote Vote Voiced
2026/09/13
YOUR VOTE READY GUIDE 2026: REGISTER, VERIFY, PLAN & VOTE VOTE VOICED
Are you Vote Ready for the November 3, 2026 election?
In this special September episode of the Vote Voiced Podcast, Donna Miller takes voters step by step through preparing for the 2026 election without telling anyone whom or what to vote for.
This is nonpartisan voter education.
We’re talking about the 2026 Civic Holidays, voter registration, checking your registration, knowing what’s on your ballot, early voting, voting by mail, polling places and hours, authorized ballot drop boxes, accessibility and language assistance, Election Protection, election workers, and making your personal voting plan.
Most importantly:
DON’T JUST BE TOLD HOW TO VOTE. KNOW HOW TO VOTE.
VERIFY FOR YOURSELF.
Before you vote, check your official state or local election authority and confirm:
• Your voter registration is current
• Your polling location
• Poll opening and closing times
• Identification or documentation requirements, if any
• What’s on your ballot
• Early voting dates, hours and locations
• Mail/absentee ballot instructions and deadlines
• Authorized ballot return locations
• Accessibility and language assistance
• What to do if you encounter a voting problem
Don’t assume voting rules are the same everywhere. Election procedures vary by state.
And if you’re returning a mail ballot, don’t assume a box is appropriate simply because it says “ballot drop box.” Verify that it is an authorized location with your election officials.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO. VERIFY BEFORE YOU VOTE.

Supreme Court & Mail-In Voting: What the New Ruling Really Means for Voters
2026/08/25
What did the Supreme Court actually rule about mail-in voting and what does it mean for voters?
In this episode of the Vote Voiced Podcast, we break down the Supreme Court’s August 2026 mail voting decision in plain, understandable language.
Mail in voting has not been abolished.
We explain what the Supreme Court allowed to move forward, why lawsuits are still continuing, how proposed federal and U.S. Postal Service changes fit into the controversy, and why voters should not assume that a national headline has suddenly changed the voting rules in their state.
Most importantly, we talk about what YOU can do.
✓ Verify your voter registration
✓ Know your state’s mail-ballot requirements
✓ Check your voting deadlines
✓ Follow information from official state and local election authorities
✓ Return your ballot early when possible
✓ Verify authorized ballot drop-off locations
✓ Don’t rely on rumors or social-media headlines for voting instructions
At Vote Voiced, we don’t tell you who to vote for. We help you understand how to vote, how to verify the information you receive, and how to be prepared to make your voice heard.
Don’t just be told how to vote. Know how to vote.
Stay informed. Stay prepared. Be Vote Ready.

The John Lewis Voting Rights Act Explained: What It Is, What Changed & What Voters Should Know
2026/08/09
What is the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act?
Why was it introduced?
What happened to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 after the Supreme Court’s 2013 decision in Shelby County v. Holder?
And what exactly does the word “preclearance” mean?
In this special voter education episode of the Vote Voiced Podcast, Donna Miller takes a detailed, plain-language look at one of the most misunderstood voting-rights debates in the United States.
We explain:
• The history of the Voting Rights Act of 1965
• The difference between Sections 2, 4 and 5 of the Voting Rights Act
• What voting-rights “preclearance” means
• What the Supreme Court decided in Shelby County v. Holder
• What parts of the Voting Rights Act remain in effect
• Why Congress has proposed the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act
• What H.R. 14 and S. 2523 propose
• Arguments made by supporters of the legislation
• Concerns and arguments raised by opponents
• The constitutional relationship between federal and state election authority
• How a bill moves through Congress
• What would have to happen before the John Lewis legislation could become law
• Why voters should distinguish between existing law, proposed law and political commentary
The goal of this episode is not to tell voters which position to take.
It is to give voters enough information to understand the issue for themselves.
Vote Voiced is a nonprofit, nonpartisan voter education organization.
We do not endorse political parties or candidates.
We do not tell voters who to vote for.
Our purpose is education: helping voters understand elections, voting procedures, voting laws and proposed legislation so they can make informed decisions for themselves.
