Join us for this segment where we sum up the biggest Nightmare fueled episodes of THE X-FILES which made it the go to for Horror Mystery fans outside of its SciFi Adventure plot arcs.   Outside of some new segments, you also get some lovely chats from the archives featuring the The X-Files Fan Retrospective duo, Oreo Brewer, Corby Stephens & Adam Silva.   Later on, I close out the final thoughts on this worldwide phenomenon with X-Files Storyteller!       GUESTS: X-Files Storyteller, Corby Stephens, Adam Silva, Oreo Brewer & The X-Files Fan Retrospective’s Lauren Krattiger & Carly Blake!)   INTRO VOICEMAIL BY: Matt Duesing     SONG INTRO: "Crushed Dove" by Mark Snow (from the Millennium OST)

We dive into Seasons 8 & 9 of X-FILES plus the always divisive second movie:   *Could the 2nd movie had just been a reformatted two-part episode where they take on a serial killer cult & get rid of the pedophile priest subplot?   *Why should every fan conclude with the Season 8 as the ACTUAL final season?   *If Season 9 had just been the stand-alone episodes and cool finale, would it be better regarded?   *Despite the controversial follow-up seasons, what other factors make Season 9 STILL the weakest installment to date?   *We also talk about an infamous X-Files review book that boggle's one's mind in why said "author" is even a fan!       GUESTS: John Holman, Ethan Weeks & Oreo Brewer   ADDITIONAL SEGMENTS BY: Adam Silva, X-FIles Storyteller, X-FIles Blue and Andrea Thomas   BONUS MATERIAL BY: Bloggers John Kenneth Muir, Sohan Sahoo & Gabriel Ricard

To conclude the X-FILES themed week, we dive into the very saga that inspired the "Scully" nickname: A ranking of the always divisive, always shocking & ever controversial Hannibal Lector series of adaptations!   Why does anyone actually root for Hannibal when he's not even a Dexter type of vigilante?   Why is Anthony Hopkins' cartoonish overacting very distracting to watch nowadays compared to Brian Cox's calm demeanor?   All that and why original casting choice Laura Dern shoud've played Agent Clarice instead!       GUESTS: The Bonsai Movie Crew, Gil Palmer, Mike Ensing & author/blogger Ellie McConnaughy.       SONGS USED: "Eating People" by King Missile   "Delusion 32" by AudioNautix. We dive into X-FILES creator Chris Carter's failed show that was heavily influenced by THE PRISONER:   How does it vary from the comic book it's loosely inspired by?   How does this modern day show differ in its bizarre scifi adventure mystery?   Why couldn't they research their technology a bit better?   And why its likely in the virtual reality part of the X-Files universe (among other funny stories related to the actors here)?         PODCAST GUESTS: Bloggers Summer Brooks, Sohan Sahoo, Oreo Brewer and Gabriel Ricard

For a show saga that inspired many others (including X-Files), we dive into the Patrick McGoohan spy mystery series Danger Man and its loose scifi follow-up The Prisoner:   Does the book version of The Running Man namedrop this?   We also discuss videogames & books clearly inspired by the latter as well as the expensive Blu Rays/DVDs and tie-in novel.   And we talk about the production design, earned plot twists & the mash-up of mind games & hunt-or-be-hunted premise mash-up.     GUESTS: Jeff Kerr, James Bruno, Gil Palmer & Tom Lindaman         SONG INTRO USED: "The Prisoner Theme Song" by Ron Grainer

To compliment THE X-FILES legacy, we dive into the very show cited as its biggest influence: KOLCHAK THE NIGHT STALKER.   A one-season wonder that built a cult audience & even spawned a brief comic book continuation, it is still a well-known '70s TV entry.   What conventions have had cosplayers dress up as the title character?   What pre-fame actors & TV writers had gigs on this show?   How did the testrun with the TV movies build the blueprint for what happened later for the series?   Plus, we conclude with what the 2005 rehash show got right and wrong.     GUESTS: Summer Brooks, Ethan Weeks, Tom Lindaman, James Bruno, Mike Ensing & Gil Palmer

To continue with the brief theme around X-Files actor Robert Patrick, I dive into another action-mystery he was featured on, the THE UNIT TV Show:   Around the hit show sadly ended pre-maturely after a 4-year run, it had two book tie-ins continuing the espionage adventures of its Delta Force team.   Which book would be an easy to approach, stand-alone adventure for a non-fan who wants an easy thrilling read?   What other works has this author conceived?   And how did this accomplish what any proper tie-in material should do?         CLIP INTRO: Robert Patrick (T2, The Faculty, X-Files, Fire in the Sky) Q&A - Monster Mania 54 (April 2023)   MUSIC USED: "The Unit Theme Song (Extended Remix" by Robert Duncan   "Echoes of the Deep," "Electric Soul," "Cybertrooper" and "Cry" by Sascha Ende for Filmmusic.IO. Before we dive into the next few seasons of X-FILES, I decided to navigate thru castmember Robert Patrick's other genre movie offerings:   How many of these films were festival hits and HBO channel premieres back in the day?   Why does he consider FBI Agent Doggett to be his favorite role to date?   And how does he handle the various mystery, horror & action movie cliches given his skill sets?   INTRO CLIP: X-Files Cast Panel Fan Expo San Francisco (Nov 30, 2025)

That night, we dive into the next 3 interconnected seasons of THE X-FILES and the first theatrical movie:   How did this serialized show handle its behind-the-scene location changes while churning out a stand-alone movie?   Despite being one of the far more highly rated years, which plotline still divides viewers?   Why would any fans give up on Season 6 or 7 when they both end on cliffhangers?   All that and more electrifying two parters to recap!       GUEST STARS: Sohan Sahoo, John Kenneth Muir and Gabriel Ricard   ADDITIONAL SEGMENTS BY: Ethan Weeks, Oreo Brewer, John Holman, Family Plot's Dean Boese & Xandra Files.   VOICEMAIL BY: Jarrod Alberich (Action Film Face-Off Podcast)

To compliment the ambiguous mysteries this week, we dive into the even more divisive Christopher Nolan movies INCEPTION and TENET:   Why does Nolan make movies with mysteries when they're overall not meant to be solved?   Why was Inception pretty enjoyable the first time around but laden with the most unconvincing shoot-outs known to mankind?   Nothing is free of criticism but why does Inception only get worser just thinking about it?   Why not just call the film "Deception" since it's never meant to be anything but endless tricks?   Is there a movie whre Nolan doesn't have his foley blaring?   All that and why Christopher needs to utilize his far more talented brother Jonathan in the scriptwriting department yet again!   INTRO USED: Christopher Nolan 2024 interview on Colbert

In a new series of fun episodes, we dive into the DIE HARD takeover episodes of a beloved movie/TV franchise and first on the docket was THE X-FILES/MILLENNIUM saga:   Which hostage takers were equally creepy and also some of the best episodes?   How many death cults, demons, alien parasites & serial killers were utilized as the villains of the week?   And which other episodes had elements of THE THING, ALIENS, DOG DAY AFTERNOON & even SE7EN?       GUESTS: Sohan Sahoo & Ethan Weeks     CLIP INTRO: Promo for the classic X-FIles episode "Pusher"

My lovely guests and I do a tribute overview to the beyond talented writers of THE X-FILES/MILLENNIUM saga:   We discuss the writers' loyalty to utilize some amazing actors on each project.   And dive into how some of the Millennium-Buffy-24-Miami Vice-Law & Order writers sometimes cross over with each other's writers rooms!           INTRO CLIPS BY: Adam Silva, Sohan Sahoo, Xandra Files, Amanda Wincester (Obsessed with Stabler on Insta) & John Holman   GUESTS: Sohan Sahoo, Ethan Weeks & Oreo Brewer     SONG USED: "THE X-FILES THEME Metal Cover" by RichaadEB         CLIP INTRO: Austin Film Festival’s On Story A Conversation with Howard Gordon (June 30, 2021)

For another post-X-Files show, I cover Gillian Anderson's other addiction mystery series THE FALL:   Why did some viewers have issues with the ending?   How is the serial killer, police solving & office politics realized way differently here?   And why will that atmospheric soundtrack get stuck in your head?   SONG INTRO: "The Fall Main Theme Song" by David Holmes, composed by Geek Music

Oreo Brewer & Cam Sully talk about the divisive, moody, uneven & always changing four season run of HBO's TRUE DETECTIVE.   We figured that we'd dive into plenty of other uncanny serialized TV mysteries during the X-FILES themed week so why not this mega-hit?   Why are all the big-name stars arguably playing their most unusual roles?   What mysteries stick and which ones leave little to the imagination?   And should it had only been one season per the creator's original plan or was HBO not taking "No" for an answer?   SONG INTRO: "Investigation Medium" by Apple Free-To-Use Music

The next grouped together reviews of The X-Files seasons continues for another themed week:   What surprises are earned in the gritty Season 3?   What monsters and stand-alone mysteries are truly jawdropping in Season 4?   And why did every show wish they could employ all the writers at their staff back in this day-and-age?   GUESTS: Sohan Sahoo & John Holman
