Dream and Prickles. Beyond The Lighthouse.
2026/10/02
Dream is a magical unicorn with shimmering wings, a very special Dreamdar and a pocketful of fairy dust.
Tonight she’s flying into a tiny seaside village to collect Prickles the hedgehog for an adventure beyond the lighthouse.
A gentle bedtime story about imagination, feeling safe, discovering something new and finding that courage doesn’t always mean being fearless. Sometimes it simply means going a tiny bit farther than you thought you could.
Created for children to listen, imagine and make the adventure their own.
From Whispering From the Rowan Tree
Don’t Think About Pink Bunnies.
2026/10/02
Rose has agreed to do one simple thing while Nell Rowan takes a well-earned break: water the plants and air the cottage.
Then an ordinary rabbit looks pink in the morning light, a well-meaning neighbour makes one innocent remark, and before Rose knows it, one thought has multiplied into an entire imaginary garden full of pink rabbits.
A warm and funny Rowan Files story about the thoughts we can’t always stop from appearing—and discovering that perhaps we don’t have to follow every one of them.

The Simple Pleasures In Life.
2026/08/26
Little bare feet thumping down a hallway. The first tea or coffee of the morning. Washing dancing on the line. Rain on warm ground. A dog’s ridiculous welcome. A small hand finding yours.
A gentle wander through Aldervale and some of life’s simplest pleasures—the little moments that cost nothing and can mean everything.
From Whispering From The Rowan Tree.
Does Rest Have To Be Earned?
2026/08/25
Have you ever been sitting peacefully when someone walks into the room—and suddenly you feel the need to explain what you’ve been doing?
In Aldervale, Nell Rowan begins to notice a curious pattern. People all over the village seem unable to rest without first proving they’ve been useful.
Jenny is one of them. Capable, dependable and accustomed to a lifetime of doing, fixing, helping and caring, she discovers that being useful has quietly become something more: evidence that she deserves her place.
A gentle Rowan Files story about the beliefs we inherit, the difference between intuition and an old alarm, and the strange guilt that can appear when we finally stop.
Perhaps the question isn’t whether you’ve earned your rest.
Perhaps it’s: Who told you that you had to?
From Whispering From The Rowan Tree — stories that understand.
The Mystery Of The Vanishing Visitor.
2026/08/19
A mysterious woman is appearing all over Aldervale—but nobody ever gets a proper look at her.
The doctor’s surgery door opens and closes. The district nurse hears her gate click. A quiet “Excuse me…” is heard in the library.
Then the little notes begin.
Sorry. Wrong time.
Sorry to bother you.
Perhaps another day.
Who is Aldervale’s Vanishing Visitor—and why does she keep running away just when she’s found the courage to ask for help?
A warm, humorous Rowan Files mystery about Grace, the woman who spent years caring for everyone except herself, and the tangled ways ADHD, anxiety, shyness, introversion and masking can sometimes overlap.
A story about What-Ifs, Whys, British apologies—and discovering that understanding yourself doesn’t mean changing who you are.
When Walking Became Difficult. Surgery Part 2.
2026/08/17
When Walking Became Careful — After Surgery, Part Two
This is the second part of my personal story about arthritis, surgery, and finding my way back to movement.
After living with pain and learning to walk carefully, surgery brought a different challenge: recovery. I had the equipment, the walker, the restrictions and all those little adjustments that suddenly become part of everyday life.
But I also had something to look forward to — standing straight again.
This is about taking recovery gently, allowing the body the time it needs, noticing the small victories, and keeping your mind pointed toward where you’re going rather than where you’ve been.
Healing isn’t a race. Sometimes strength is simply taking the next careful step.
Ozzy and The School Bus.
2026/08/08
Ozzy in the School Bus is the first of my true animal stories.
On a bitterly cold winter’s day, a frightened puppy with extraordinary blue eyes emerged from beneath an abandoned school bus and quietly changed the lives of one family forever. This is the true story of Ozzy’s rescue, his courage, his gentle nature, and the remarkable bond that followed.
Based on real events, this heartwarming story is suitable for anyone who loves animals, rescue stories, and the unexpected moments that stay with us for a lifetime.
If you enjoy gentle storytelling, true memories, and tales told from the heart, I hope you’ll join me for more adventures from Whispering From the Rowan Tree.
This is the first story in my Cameron Animal Tales collection—a series of true stories about the unforgettable animals who became part of our family
The Day Moss Grew Prickles
2026/08/01
The Kindness We’re Told to Outgrow | The First Moss and Bramble Story
Meet Moss and Bramble, two gentle woodland friends who discover that kindness is never weakness. This first story introduces a magical world beneath the Rowan tree where courage, friendship, and compassion quietly grow together.
A soothing children’s story for families, grandparents, teachers, and anyone who believes gentle stories can leave lasting footprints on young hearts.
The Brightest Place In The Kingdom
2026/07/23
What happens when you travel to one of the brightest, busiest and most magical places in the world… only to discover that the place you most want to be is sitting quietly in a hotel room with a book?
In You Are Cordially Invited… to the Brightest Place in the Kingdom, Nell Rowan enters a world of castles, fireworks, music, crowds and carefully organised enchantment. But somewhere between aching feet, endless queues, an elusive cup of tea and a hotel room with no kettle, she discovers something she hadn’t realised she was searching for.
Quiet.
This gentle, humorous and reflective story from Whispering From the Rowan Tree explores the pressure to make the most of every moment, the different ways we experience wonder, and the surprising places where peace can find us.
Perhaps sitting still is not missing life.
Perhaps it is where life finally catches up with us.
Come and sit beneath the Rowan Tree for a while.
The chair is waiting.
And, naturally, the kettle will be on.

The Year I Thought Meant Nothing.
2026/07/05
The Year I Thought Meant Nothing is a deeply personal story about a year that once seemed like an empty space between one life and the next. A visit to Pam, an unexpected conversation, and the words of Desiderata quietly helped a woman begin to see that another life was possible.
Only years later does she understand that the year she thought meant nothing was one of the most important of all—a quiet turning point when healing began, hope returned, and the road forward first came into view.
The woman who held everything together.
2026/07/05
This story is for the carers, the strong ones, the silent supporters. The ones who make tea and sometimes need some one to pour it for them.

2026/07/05

As memories begin to surface, Nell Rowan discovers that Fuller may have understood far more about the village—and its people—than anyone ever realised.
A story of forgotten objects, quiet kindness, village secrets, and the lives that can be hidden inside the things we leave behind
A Year I Thought Meant Nothing .
2026/07/05
There are times in life that don’t feel important while we’re living them…and yet, years later, we realise they changed everything.
This is a reflective story about a woman, a poem about a guide for living hung on the back of a door, and a year that quietly shaped a life.
The Rowan Files. The File Left Empty.
2026/07/05
A forgotten file. A bridge swallowed by fog. A village that buried the truth for forty years.
