The Greatness Hour | Episode 9: Knocked Down, Not Out — Endure Until the End
2026/09/07
What do you do when you've discovered your purpose, taken action, gone all in—and then life knocks you down? In 1985, Steve Jobs was pushed out of Apple, the company he had co-founded and poured years of his life into. He could have allowed that humiliating setback to define him. Instead, he spent his years in the wilderness rebuilding, creating, learning, and developing the comeback power that eventually prepared him to return to Apple and help transform it. And Jobs wasn't alone. Abraham Lincoln suffered a painful Senate defeat before eventually reaching the presidency. Nick Vujicic refused to allow extraordinary physical limitations to prevent him from pursuing a life of purpose and impact. And even the biblical journeys of Moses, David, and Jesus included significant wilderness experiences before or during the fulfillment of their assignments. There is a pattern here. The road to greatness doesn't always go from the bottom straight to the mountaintop. Sometimes it takes you through the valley—and sometimes through the wilderness. In Episode 9 of The Greatness Hour, we continue the four-stage roadmap from my book Unchain Your Greatness and explore the third E: ENDURE. Why is resilience indispensable to fulfilling your purpose? Why do some people abandon the journey after failure, rejection, betrayal, opposition, or disappointing results while others become stronger? And how can you use setbacks as stepping stones rather than allowing them to become permanent verdicts over your life? Through powerful stories, personal experiences, metaphors, and practical insights, I explore why we must learn to embrace setbacks, outlast difficult seasons, and develop comeback power. Because your time in the valley doesn't have to be wasted. Learn there. Grow there. Rebuild there. Become stronger there. But don't make the valley your permanent address. Your setback may be preparing you for a comeback. Your failure may be teaching you something success couldn't. And your wilderness may be developing the person you'll need to become for the next stage of your journey. Get knocked down—but don't stay down. Endure until the end. Join me for The Greatness Hour, where we Ignite Your Purpose. Unchain Your Greatness. To read the book Unchain Your Greatness, which contains the 4Es Framework: https://theatozinstitute.com/unchain-your-greatness #TheGreatnessHour #UnchainYourGreatness #EndureUntilTheEnd #Endurance #Resilience #ComebackPower #OvercomingSetbacks #Persistence #SteveJobs #AbrahamLincoln #NickVujicic #PurposeDrivenLife #PersonalGrowth #SelfLeadership #Greatness #Leadership #KeepGoing #PersonalDevelopment
The Greatness Hour | Episode 8: No More Someday — Act on What You Know Before It Expires
2026/09/07
Discovery reveals your greatness. Action activates it. Millions of people have ideas they never launch, truths they never act upon, books they never write, businesses they never build, causes they never champion, and contributions they never make. Then one day, they watch someone else act on an idea remarkably similar to the one they had years earlier. The difference wasn't always knowledge. It was action. In Episode 8 of The Greatness Hour, we continue our journey through the four-stage roadmap from my book Unchain Your Greatness: Explore, Enact, Endure, and Emancipate. This time, we move from Explore to Enact—from discovering what is possible to doing something about it. I'll open with the dramatic story used in the book of a military commander who, after crossing into enemy territory, left his soldiers with no easy path of retreat. Whether taken literally or as a metaphor, the message is powerful: There comes a moment when you have to stop studying the shore and launch the ship. We'll explore why some people accumulate extraordinary insights yet remain stuck, why opportunities and discoveries can effectively expire when we hesitate too long, and what separates those who admire possibilities from those who turn possibilities into realities. Drawing from Unchain Your Greatness, historical examples, personal reflections, metaphors, and practical insights, we'll examine what it means to develop a now-or-never attitude, act courageously without becoming reckless, go all in, and give your purpose the prime attention it deserves. Because knowing isn't enough. Believing isn't enough. Planning isn't enough. At some point, your discoveries demand action. If there is something you know you should have started, created, changed, pursued, or stood for—but you've been telling yourself someday—this conversation is for you. Ignite Your Purpose. Unchain Your Greatness. Here is the book mentioned in this session: https://theatozinstitute.com/unchain-your-greatness #TheGreatnessHour #UnchainYourGreatness #NoMoreSomeday #EnactYourGreatness #TakeAction #PurposeDrivenLife #BoldAction #GoAllIn #NowOrNever #PersonalGrowth #SelfLeadership #Greatness #Purpose #Leadership #PersonalDevelopment #HighPerformance #UnlockYourPotential #GreatnessJourney
The Greatness Hour | Episode 7: The Hidden Roadmap — Where Real Greatness Begins
2026/09/07
Before you act on your greatness, you must first discover where it comes from, where it resides, and why it exists. What if the reason many people never fully unchain their greatness is not a lack of talent, opportunity, or ambition—but because they never took time to explore what makes them greatness material in the first place? In this episode of The Greatness Hour, we begin a new four-part series based on my book Unchain Your Greatness and the roadmap it presents: Explore, Enact, Endure, and Emancipate. We begin with Explore—the foundational stage. I’ll open with a fascinating Ethiopian folk story about a mighty man who performed extraordinary miracles for years, only to lose everything after a flood swept away the object he believed made him powerful. His story raises a profound question: What happens when the thing you think makes you great is taken away? From there, we’ll explore the foundational discoveries that shaped many great lives before their achievements became visible. We’ll examine where true greatness comes from, where it actually resides, and why discovering the reason for your existence can become the foundation for everything that follows. Through stories, examples, reflections from Unchain Your Greatness, and practical insights, this session is designed to help you look beneath titles, possessions, credentials, status, and external validation—and begin asking deeper questions about your identity, potential, and purpose. Because before the great ones acted, they explored. Before they endured, they developed conviction. And before they finished their race, they built a foundation strong enough to survive the floods along the way. Join me for Episode 7 as we begin walking through The Hidden Roadmap to Greatness. Explore deeply. Discover what is within. Then get ready to act. Ignite Your Purpose. Unchain Your Greatness. The Greatness Hour | Episode 6: Values Under Pressure — What Will You Refuse to Compromise?
2026/09/07
Purpose tells you why. Vision shows you where. Values determine how you get there—and who you become along the way. What happens to your purpose and vision when pursuing them comes with a price? Nelson Mandela spent 27 years imprisoned for his struggle against apartheid. He endured isolation, hard labor, personal loss, and enormous pressure. Yet the extraordinary part of his story wasn't simply that he had a purpose or envisioned a different South Africa. It was the values he refused to abandon while pursuing that vision—and the person he chose to become through the struggle. His life raises a question for all of us: What do you stand for when what you stand for becomes costly? In this episode of The Greatness Hour, we complete our three-part exploration of the common traits found in many great lives: Purpose, Vision, and Values. We've talked about discovering a purpose worth pursuing. We've explored the power of using our inner eye to envision a future that doesn't yet exist. Now we turn to the principles that help us pursue that future without losing ourselves along the way: our core values. We'll explore what values really are—and what they are not—why knowing your values can transform decision-making, and why values become especially important when we're under pressure, facing temptation, encountering opposition, or presented with attractive opportunities that don't align with who we are. We'll also look beyond personal values. What does it mean to build values-driven relationships? A values-driven family? A values-driven organization? And what distinguishes genuinely values-driven leadership from simply displaying attractive words on a wall? Through compelling stories, practical examples, and lessons from The Highest Level of Greatness, we'll explore how values can help us define who we are, advance our purpose, protect our vision, guide our decisions, and preserve the legacy we're working so hard to build. Because greatness isn't only about what you accomplish. It is also about who you become—and what you refuse to sacrifice—to accomplish it. Join me as we complete this important conversation about living a Purpose-Oriented, Vision-Centered, and Values-Driven Life. Ignite Your Purpose. Unchain Your Greatness. The Greatness Hour | Episode 5: Vision Before Victory — Seeing Tomorrow Before You Live It
2026/08/19
Helen Keller once said: "The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision." Although she could neither see nor hear, she possessed something many people with perfect eyesight never develop—a compelling vision for her life. In this episode of The Greatness Hour, we continue our exploration of the three timeless characteristics that define history's greatest lives. After discovering the power of purpose in Episode 4, we now turn to the second pillar: Vision. What exactly is vision? How is it different from dreams, goals, ambition, or wishful thinking? What happens when individuals, families, organizations, or even nations lose sight of a compelling future? Why do some people clearly see possibilities that others never recognize? Drawing on inspiring stories, historical examples, practical insights, and timeless principles, we'll explore how vision shapes our decisions, influences our perseverance, and gives meaning to our daily actions. We'll also discuss practical ways to clarify, strengthen, and begin living toward the future you were created to build. If purpose answers "Why am I here?", vision answers "Where am I going?" Join me as we continue the journey of discovering, developing, and unchaining the greatness within. Ignite Your Purpose. Unchain Your Greatness. Bring your questions, invite a friend, and let's continue the journey together. To read the two books on Greatness: 1. The Greatness Hour | Episode 4: Purpose Before Everything — The Foundation of a Great Life
2026/08/19
What do people who live extraordinary lives have in common? Across generations, cultures, professions, and circumstances, many of the people we admire most have been guided by something deeper than success, recognition, wealth, or status: a compelling sense of purpose. In Episode 4 of The Greatness Hour, we begin exploring three foundational qualities that repeatedly emerge in the lives of people who make a meaningful and lasting impact: Purpose, Vision, and Values. We begin with the first—and arguably the foundation for the other two: Purpose. Through powerful stories and examples, we'll explore what purpose really means, what it doesn't mean, and why pursuing greatness merely for the sake of becoming "great" can ultimately leave us empty. We'll also examine why purpose matters far beyond our careers. It can influence the choices we make, the relationships we build, the challenges we're willing to endure, the opportunities we pursue, the contributions we make, and ultimately the legacy we leave behind. Drawing from ideas and stories explored in my book The Highest Level of Greatness, we'll look at individuals such as Mother Teresa, Viktor Frankl, Nelson Mandela, and others whose lives demonstrate what can happen when a person discovers something worth living—and sometimes sacrificing—for. And then we'll turn the conversation toward ourselves: What would change if you became absolutely clear about why you are here and began organizing your life around it? Join me LIVE for this interactive conversation. Bring your questions, perspectives, and experiences. We'll explore Vision and Values in Episodes 5 and 6 as we continue building the foundation for pursuing our highest level of greatness. Ignite Your Purpose. Unchain Your Greatness. The Greatness Hour | Episode 3: Breaking the Invisible Chains Within to Unchain Your Highest Self
2026/08/19
What if the greatest obstacle standing between you and the life you were created to live isn't your external circumstances—but the invisible programming you've carried for years? Many of our beliefs, assumptions, fears, and patterns of thinking are formed long before we consciously examine them—some inherited, some shaped before we were even born, others formed during early childhood, and many reinforced throughout life. Over time, they quietly shape our attitudes, influence our choices and decisions, establish our habits, define our comfort zones, set the ceiling for what we believe is possible, and ultimately determine the direction of our lives. In Episode 3 of The Greatness Hour, we'll explore why lasting transformation begins beneath the surface. I'll share compelling stories that illustrate how difficult it can be to change an established mindset, examine the hidden influences that shape the way we think, and discuss practical ways to recognize and overcome the deep-seated barriers that keep us from becoming our highest selves. Drawing on scientific insights, fascinating experiments, personal experiences, and real-life examples, this conversation is designed to help you look inward, question what has shaped you, and wrestle with an important question: Are my brain wiring, conditioning, belief system, and habits helping me fulfill my purpose—or quietly holding me back from becoming my highest self? If you're ready to question the invisible forces shaping your life, raise the ceiling on what you believe is possible, and begin unchaining your highest self, this episode is for you. The Greatness Hour | Episode 2: The Questions That Shape Your Destiny
2026/08/19
Have you ever noticed that the quality of your life is often determined by the quality of the questions you ask? Most people spend years pursuing success, security, and recognition, yet many still struggle with uncertainty, dissatisfaction, or the feeling that something is missing. In this episode of The Greatness Hour, we'll explore a handful of timeless questions that have guided some of history's greatest thinkers, leaders, and purpose-driven individuals. These aren't questions to answer casually—they are questions that can reshape how you see yourself, your purpose, your decisions, and ultimately your legacy. We'll discuss why these questions matter, why so many people avoid asking them, and how your answers influence the direction of your life. Throughout the conversation, I'll share personal experiences, historical examples, and practical insights to help you reflect more deeply on your own journey. If you've ever wondered whether you're living the life you were created to live, this conversation is for you. Join us for another thought-provoking episode of The Greatness Hour. The Greatness Hour | Episode 1: You Are Meant to Be Great
2026/08/08
Welcome to the premiere of The Greatness Hour! What if greatness isn't reserved for the exceptionally talented, the wealthy, the famous, or the fortunate? What if it's something every one of us was created to discover, develop, and express? If that's true, why do so many people hesitate to even talk about greatness? Why do many struggle to believe they have greatness within them? And even when they sense they were created for something more, why do so few pursue it? In this foundational episode, we'll challenge some of the world's biggest misconceptions about greatness, purpose, success, and significance. I'll share stories from my own journey, along with examples from history and everyday life, to explore why so many people settle for less than their potential and what it truly means to live a life of purpose, impact, and legacy. This conversation also lays the foundation for everything we'll explore in future episodes by introducing the definition of greatness that will guide this show and the journey we'll take together. Whether you're a professional, entrepreneur, leader, student, or someone searching for greater meaning and direction, I hope this conversation challenges your thinking, expands your perspective, and inspires you to pursue the unique contribution only you can make. Join me for the very first episode of The Greatness Hour as we begin a journey of discovering, developing, and deploying the greatness within. Ignite Your Purpose. Unchain Your Greatness. The Two Parts of Every Speech That Matter Most: Hook Fast. Close Strong
2026/08/07
Did you know that your audience often decides within seconds whether they'll continue listening? Years ago, speakers had several minutes to earn attention. Today, whether you're speaking in person or online, the first 30–60 seconds can determine whether people lean in—or tune out. And no matter how good your content is, a weak ending can diminish an otherwise great presentation. In this live session, based on my book Speaking for Impact, I'll share practical strategies to help you master the two parts of every speech that carry the greatest influence: the opening and the closing. You'll learn: 1. How to hook your audience within the first 30–60 seconds. 2. Real opening examples that immediately capture attention. 3. Why attention spans have dramatically changed—and what today's speakers must do differently. 4. How to end with clarity, confidence, and a memorable call to action. 5. Practical techniques you can apply immediately in presentations, meetings, interviews, sales conversations, podcasts, and keynote speeches. Whether you're a leader, entrepreneur, trainer, educator, sales professional, or aspiring speaker, this session will help you become a more compelling communicator and leave every audience wanting more. This session is based on principles from my book, Speaking for Impact, where I share practical frameworks for delivering messages that inform, influence, and inspire. Thinking Beyond Growth: The Hidden Vehicles That Help Businesses Scale
2026/07/19
Many founders hope their businesses will scale someday—but hope is not a scaling strategy. In this live session, based on insights from my recent book, Scale to Last, we'll explore the many vehicles organizations can use to grow beyond the founder. While most entrepreneurs think of hiring more people or selling more products, there are far more strategic options available. We'll discuss how to think intentionally about scaling and examine a range of approaches that can help your business expand its impact, capacity, and long-term value. Whether you're an entrepreneur, founder, business owner, executive, or someone working with founders, this session will challenge you to think differently about growth and build a business designed to scale—not just survive. The Hidden Power of Stories: Why Facts Inform, but Stories Connect
2026/07/19
Have you ever wondered why some presentations, pitches, and conversations are instantly memorable while others are quickly forgotten? In this LIVE session, we'll explore why stories are one of the most powerful communication tools available to leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and speakers. We'll also distinguish true stories from their close relatives—such as narration, reporting, and anecdotes—and uncover why they don't all have the same impact. Finally, we'll dive into one specific type of story that can dramatically strengthen your presentations, writing, sales conversations, and leadership communication. If you want your message to be remembered—not just heard—this session is for you. Two books mentioned in this live session: 1. Speaking for impact. The Leadership Mirror: Why Self-Awareness Comes Before Leading Others
2026/07/19
Most leadership experts agree on one foundational principle: before you can effectively lead others, you must first learn to lead yourself. But self-leadership begins with self-awareness—understanding who you are, what makes you unique, what you stand for, and recognizing both your strengths, limitations, and your blind spots. In this LIVE session, I'll share the practical methods I use to become more self-aware, along with three pieces of honest (and not-so-flattering) feedback I've received over the years, how I discovered them, and what I did with that feedback. Whether you're an executive, manager, entrepreneur, or aspiring leader, I hope these lessons help you grow as a leader from the inside out. 3 Awkward Classroom Moments: And How I Turned Them Around
2026/07/19
Every speaker, trainer, leader, and entrepreneur who stands before an audience will eventually face an unexpected moment. A participant may challenge you publicly. Someone may say or do something that catches you completely off guard. Or a situation may unfold that tests not only your presentation skills—but your credibility. These moments happen. During more than 20 years of facilitating workshops and speaking engagements, I've encountered hundreds of them. The difference isn't whether they happen; it's how you respond. In this LIVE session, I'll share three real classroom experiences that could have gone very differently. I'll explain what happened, what was going through my mind, why I chose the responses I did, and the practical lessons you can apply the next time you're under pressure. These stories also connect to principles from my book, Speaking for Impact, where I discuss how to recover from stumbles, unexpected situations, and awkward moments without losing your audience. Whether you're a speaker, trainer, facilitator, executive, entrepreneur, educator, or anyone who regularly leads meetings, you'll leave with practical strategies for protecting—and even strengthening—your credibility when the unexpected happens. As mentioned in the video, to learn more about how to speak with confidence, presence, and handle some setbacks, awkward moments professionally and calmly, check out the book Speaking for Impact: https://theatozinstitute.com/speaking-for-impact
