Season 6 Episode 3 of the Nordic Art Agency Podcast is our first podcast episode that is also available on our Nordic Art Agency Youtube Channel.   (For that reason the audio in places is a little patchy, but this will be improved) This episode features a deeply personal and important conversation with Swedish creative director, artist, activist, and storyteller Henrik Wahlström in conversation with by Juliet Rees, Founder of the Nordic Art Agency. Henrik shares his journey through art, mental health advocacy, and his powerful involvement in stigmatising mental illness.  We also explore his collaboration with ‘Upp och Ner’ and his recent projects that challenge social narratives and open up new dialogue around vulnerability, truth, and coping mechanisms. Belgium sculptor Sabine Allaeys has created a series of minimalist limited edition wildlife sculptures cast in bronze entitled Awakening of Art .  The series has evolved over the past decade and these 'mini-monumental' works are beautifully smooth and enticingly tactile in their natural green, brown and black patinas. On this podcast episode host Juliet Rees is in-conversation with Allaeys discussing the inspiration behind the Awakening of Art series and her origins in art history, digital design and her reset embracing nature and the spiritual principals found in primitive art and objects. The Nordic Art Agency has recently signed Allaeys to the gallery and she will be in Sweden for her forthcoming solo exhibition SOULSONG which launches on April 4th 2025. The exhibition will be a presentation of a selection of her recent sculptures and will be available to view until May 24th 2025. Podcast host and Nordic Art Agency gallery Founder Juliet Rees is back with Season 6 a new season of art conversations. Laura Jane Scott is a British artist working in minimalist, geometric abstraction and colour-field painting.  Her desire for simplicity through geometric form and her striking use of colour enables her to produce work where painting explores a model of architectural form and where colour embodies a physical structure. The resulting work is a refined visual vocabulary of form and colour. The Nordic Art Agency opened a new gallery space in December of 2024 and Laura Jane Scott was one of two new international artists to feature in the current International Group exhibition. Six of her works are currently exhibited and all of them can be viewed on Laura Jane Scott's artist page. A slight variation to the podcast as on this episode we discuss The Art Club, a collaboration between the Nordic Art Agency and The Torso, which launches this November. This unique partnership combines fine arts and fine dining in a symbiotic experience, displaying curated artworks on the walls of The Torso Restaurant, located by the iconic Turning Torso skyscraper in Malmö, Sweden. Born out of a desire to share art and artistic experiences in unique location, The Art Club is an opportunity to discover contemporary international artists in a fine dinning setting. On this episode Swedish creative concept entrepreneur and designer Max Paulsson Hall joins host Juliet to discuss the exclusive Art Club evening events at The Torso restaurant.  Each curated art exhibition and event at The Torso is perfect for those passionate about high culture; offering an extraordinary blend of visual and culinary delights. The 12th edition of the Affordable Art Fair Stockholm will be opening its doors on October 2nd - Sunday 6th October.  Over 60 handpicked local and international galleries will be exhibiting 1000s of contemporary art works. The Spotlight section is back again at the art fair with a focus on how to decorate your home with art.  With the theme of ‘Homes is where the Art is’ 1 interior designer and 2 galleries have been selected to create spotlight stands for the fair. On this episode Juliet is in conversation with Swedish wildlife artist Per Ekros.  Always fascinated by faces, expressions and bodies, animals are an intrinsic part of Per Ekros's life, and they form naturally and intuitively as the subject matter of his artworks. His heart lies within the animal kingdom and our consumption of their environments, which impacts him deeply and the psychology of this is a reflection of this. The podcast discusses his series of polar bear portraits from the 2021 series The King without a Kingdom and how Per captures emotional response through his selection of material and media.  His approach to a reductive painting style enables the characterisation of his chosen animal to be simplified within the composition which  provides an emotional intensity in his painting. Current works from the To The Ark series are exhibited at the Nordic Art Agency gallery during the Summer Exhibition and a solo exhibition of Per Ekros's painting will be held in the gallery from September 21st - November 16th 2024.

Anglo-Danish artist Kristian Bluff is based in Copenhagen and is self-taught abstract expressionist with a focus on land and seascapes.  With a BA in graphics and a career in design, Kristian Bluff is an exciting emerging artist who has established himself in Scandinavia and the UK. He has exhibited his work internationally and his paintings can be found in many private collections across Europe. On this podcast Juliet is in conversation with Kristian Bluff who is currently working on his Escapism series. In this body of work Kristian plays around with depth, light, perspective, movement and emotions in order to explore his surroundings in forms of different scapes.  Kristian Bluff was recently signed as a Guest Artist to the Nordic Art Agency and artworks by Kristian can currently be viewed in the gallery and online. The Nordic Art Agency is a participating host in the fourth edition of Southern Sweden Design Days which takes place between the 23–26 May 2024.  This is an international design festival in Malmö which invites visitors from all over the world to experience the best the creative southern Swedish design region has to offer. In this podcast designer Helle Robertson and Sarah Nakiito are in conversation with co-curator from the Nordic Art Agency Sarah Blanking.  Our gallery exhibition, featuring 11 international designers is entitled, Thoughtful Intentions : absorbing the past & informing the future The intention or purpose of our actions is a direct creative response to our emotional reactive state of mind.  Southern Sweden Design Days 2021 was the start of a new annual event that highlights and builds knowledge about design – focusing on sustainability, collaboration, development and innovation. For four days, a platform is created showcasing a full range of design disciplines through seminars, workshops, exhibitions and networking events. Southern Sweden Design Days is organised by Form/Design Center – the main venue for architecture, design and crafts in southern Sweden. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Affordable Art Fair (AAF).  Each year the fair welcomes over 185,000 art enthusiasts to art fairs around the world.  On this episode the Affordable Art Fair Stockholm Director Carl Wilhelm Hirsch joins host Juliet on the podcast to discuss the fair and the forthcoming Pop Up Art Fair in Malmö. This will be the first of it's kind in Sweden and will feature artists from both Galleri Final and the Nordic Art Agency.  It is a unique opportunity  to experience the Affordable Art Fair in Malmö and will have many of the attribute of the culture of the AAF with live painting, artist talks and an Art Afterwork. Cissi Carlson Starck from Galleri Final is also in conversation with Juliet discussing their forthcoming curation and collaboration at the Nordic Art Agency Pop Up Art Fair. Mathias Frykholm is a self-taught painter who phenomenal talent has led to his career thriving since he became a full time artists five years ago. His large scale canvases are truly captivating and engage the viewer on many levels with the accuracy, detail and emotional and sensual qualities. Sara Berman describes her paintings as ‘a dialogue between painting and textiles'  and joins Juliet on the podcast to breakdown her works and the 'uncomfortable nooks of the female bodily experience' found in her self portraits. Originally from London, Sara Berman studied at St. Martins School of Art & Design and later took a Masters of Fine Art at Slade School of Art. Her work can be found in notable international collections, and she has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibition, currently represented by Vielmetter in Los Angeles. Sara describes her paintings as ‘a dialogue between painting and textiles.’ With a background both in fashion and art, Sara brilliantly creates a game of  materiality in her large scale compositions in oil on canvas. The conversation is very much based around the female experience and touches on every aspect of how Sara personally operates in the world and how this is represented in her work.  Her experiences are reflected through the character of the Trickster Whore and the use of the Harlequin as a starting point for all her paintings. Welcome to this first episode of Season 5 of the Nordic Art Agency Podcast. Art historian, gallerist and host Juliet returns with a new conversation with Swedish landscape watercolour artist Erik Hårdstedt. OUTLOOK is the recent exhibition of Erik Hårdstedt's paintings which opened at the Nordic Art Agency in January 2024 and features 14 watercolour works. Recording from his current studio on the outskirts of Gokarna, a small town on the Indian West Coast, Erik discusses his painting practice and how travel, changes in scenery and different cultural input fuels his approach to his creative process which is an essential part of the identity and compositions of his painting. The exhibition is now open at the Nordic Art Agency gallery until March 3rd.
