When was the last time you looked over the edge of a cliff? What did you see? What changes if you look out rather than down? If your gaze goes upward, things change yet again. We live in a time where we live at the edge of Christ’s return. We understand that we have been in the last days since Jesus’ first return, and each day brings us a day closer to his second coming. This begs the question; How do we live our lives on the edge of the return of Jesus Christ?  We must learn to avoid the traps of dead works and false teachings.  We must learn to be diligent, wise, alert, and productive.  In this season, we are called to live blameless and spotless lives; however, is that possible?  Today is the day. Before you were even conceived, God had you in mind. God had you in mind, but He also put within you a destiny. The dreams He has given you are not an accident. When was the last time you listened to a friend in need and just rattled off “God will supply all your needs” to them and walked away? When was the last time that happened to you? The Word of God is powerful and full of truth. However, when God’s supply seems to be MIA, that verse can be annoying and feel impossible.   During the season where Paul penned that verse, he was not in a comfortable situation. Paul was under house arrest and chained to Roman guards. As the Holy Spirit impressed those words on Paul, I wonder how he felt as he pondered them. Does God hear your questions? What type of question should we ask God? Do the questions we ask make a difference to God?  We have an invitation to partner with God in every season of life. It seems easy as we navigate some seasons, and the directions seem clear. However, there are other seasons where discerning God’s direction can be complicated or overwhelming.  In the Old Testament, we meet a man named Manoah. It can be easy to read through the account and not grasp the importance or the power of the question he asked. How do you respond when God asks you a question? God began questioning people in the book of Genesis with Adam and Eve. And, He is still asking questions of people today. A question from God always involves some form of an invitation. It may be an invitation, to be honest with Him and confess our sins. Or, His question may be an invitation to see things from His perspective. There are many reasons God would ask you a question, but you can rest assured that those questions are intentional, and we must take them seriously. Are you peaceful or wild and restless? When you relate to God, are you calm or agitated? When you need rest, is your mind racing, or can you lean into the very heartbeat of God? As I studied Genesis, God took me on a side trip to explore the life of two birds mentioned in Genesis 8, the raven and the dove. What happens when we choose to push the pain in our lives underground rather than allowing God to bring healing?  Early this year, I asked the Lord for a word for the We Prophesy Conference in New Jersey. As I was waiting on the Lord, He gave me a word about what happens when the pain goes underground.  What aspects of your life have you buried? We must understand that when God reveals what has been buried, it is an invitation for freedom and healing. However deep that pain is, whatever the depth of the grave of despair, God wants to set you free.
