We have rebranded to “Dorothy’s Riot” and we are so excited for what we have in store. Queer Kentucky's newest writer, Sophia joins Beards and Lav. We are own a rebranding journey and Sophia is just the one to get us in line. As a bi-racial, pansexual, Southerner, she has lots to say and is passionate. Also, her mom was once a truck driver.

On this episode we talk with our friend Michael Kopp. Kopp works with Louisville Metro Public Health and also founded the nonprofit Social Practice Lab. Their Mission is to invest resources in our most underserved communities in order to address and resolve the health equity gap.

She has a series of essays for Longreads on dating and politics and her writing has been featured the Los Angeles Review of Books, the Washington Post, the Guardian, the Oxford American, Teen Vogue, and she was Louisville’s local relationship advice columnist for 3.5 years at LEO Weekly. Her work is featured in “Burn It Down: Women Writing About Anger” by Seal Press and in the recent Hub City Press collection, ““A Measure of Belonging: Writers of Color on the New American South.” Her essay collection, An Anthology of Assholes, about dating as a woman of color in Southern California, is forthcoming from Little A summer 2023. This week, Sarah and Spencer Zoomed in with Gay Comedian, Matteo Lane (Yes, the sound quality is absolute shit)! Lane is a New York-based comedian whose stand-up special can be seen on Netflix’s The Comedy Lineup. He has performed stand up on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Late Night with Seth Myers, Comedy Central’s Adam Devine’s House Party, This Week at the Comedy Cellar and The Comedy Jam, as well as HBO’s Crashing. Fluent in five languages and with a singing range of six octaves, Lane lived in Italy as an oil painter and opera singer before starting his comedy career.

Sarah is back! On this episode we talk mental health, Holidays at home, and too many dick jokes for Sarah's taste. We are very happy to be back together after two weeks of not recording or seeing each other!
