This week, the fellas spend some time recapping their recent race/weekend getaway on one of the beautiful Lake Erie Islands… AKA Put-In-Bay. It also may or may not have had something to do with the reason we missed recording last week and contributed to our 80% of the time ALL the time promise. Good times were had by all, and we all made it back in one piece. Slightly haggard, slightly sunburnt, slightly stoopid, and slightly more piratey than the last time we hit the water and raced the annual Toledo Yacht Club Mills Cup Race. Also for all you Roller Coaster lovers out there, Tyner The Pirate Chef has just returned from a trip to the best Amusement Park ON THE PLANET!!! Cedar Point… America’s Roller Coast. The place just gets better and better with each passing year (except for the spinny rides, those can kick rocks). Cheers!!!

Maannnn, I've been putting off writing this for quite some time. It took so long for us to address our propensity to procrastinate, that this episode should have happened somewhere in the 60-70 episode range. Today the boys finally faced the issue that The Pirate Chef claims to be one of his biggest shortcomings. Procrastination is an interesting subject. It can really be a problem if it is a chronic occurrence. Some people never do it, some do it constantly. Regardless it has probably affected all of us at one point in our lives. If you put off listening to this episode, we get it. Just promise that you'll get to it eventually... Cheers!!!

Comedy Chaos… This week the fellas explore a subject that at its core is meant for one thing, to make us LAUGH! If that is the case, then why oh why do so many people get offended by comedy in certain cases? Its happened plenty of times in the past, but nowadays seems to really be magnified and more and more has found its way to the forefront of news headlines and talks around the water cooler. We hypothesize that maybe just maybe, it is because comedy does such a good job of pointing out the intricacies of life, and that someone with a bit less thick a skin may feel a joke hit way too close to home… so LIGHTEN UP!!! Laugh a little, and join us this week to realize that life is a joke… and it's on us. CHEERS!!!

If conspiracies are crazy, why are they true? Today we tackle a list of a dozen “Conspiracies” that have turned out to be true (at least to some extent) as time has passed by. NOW… This was a Readers Digest article and these theories were in some cases pretty vanilla or “no duh” when it comes to the deep dark subject of conspiracy. But we managed to find ourselves in some deep waters critiquing the subjects on this list. So please kick back, relax, and enjoy some good ol’ tin foil hat conspiracy conversation. CHEERS!!!

Well folks, today may be where this show takes a turn into the deep and never comes back. Pirate Chef Tyner even received a call from a mysterious man telling him to dial back the red pill truth bombs he was serving up OR ELSE!!! Or that may have been a little white lie. But the lies we discuss today aren’t little and they are not white. They are lies that are specifically told in order to make the masses believe or act in a certain way. Whether the direction it leads you is for good or bad, that is up to you to decide. But it is apparent at this point that there is definitely a narrative being sold and we as the inhabitants of this world are spooning it up like superman ice cream. Spring, sprang, spring… this week we discussed all things Spring. The season, when everything comes back to life after a long winter. At least for those of us in the northern hemisphere. Topics included a few of our favorite activities that return to full swing (no pun intended) once the warmth and sunshine return. So please, join us and enjoy this week’s discussion on springtime. Being a good person seems like it should be the simplest of goals to accomplish. And being mindful of a couple simple things seems like that will get the job done. However after this conversation, some of us… (The Pirate Chef in particular) couldn’t help realizing that part of being a good person, is to continually be working on yourself. There are always improvements that can be made. NOW, did TPC spiral into uncomfortable introspection and a self-loathing puddle of regrets every step of the way while recording this episode while Just Scott just sat and watched? YEP! But change never comes from being comfortable, and having your ego in check and your mind focused on the positive things in life will go a long way to help all of us become that person we strive to be. So PLEASE be kind, spread love, be honest, and treat others the way you would like to be treated, and maybe just maybe we come out of this all right. CHEERS!!!

Today's episode was a special one for the fellas and their guest. Because this particular subject is one that has moved them, figuratively and literally, their whole lives. From our mother's heartbeats, to the thundering of a drum set at our final concert, beats and rhythm provide an underlying soundtrack to the majority of our lives. We dove deep into actual drumming and its intricacies. And also just about every other angle of percussion we could muster over the course of our conversation. Much like a couple of episodes ago when Just Scott claimed to not know anything about MMA, one of the guys didn’t think they had much knowledge on today’s subject at hand. But that DIDN’T stop Tyner The Pirate Chef from blabbering on about things he realized were relevant while the guys were in the middle of today’s conversation. (Did you really expected anything else?) And today we’re talking sound…. All things sound. Of course we found our way into the realm of music, how could we not? But also devolved quickly into the realization that sound, much like everything else, is just waves and the frequency of those waves being interpreted by our quantum flesh computers. Call it Island music, feel good music, whatever you’d like. But if a little reggae and a cold drink in your hand with your toes in the sand doesn’t bring a smile to your face…. we here at the Shit Gets Deep Podcast say GO KICK ROCKS ya Bombaclot! Today we took the time to give a brief history of and deep dive into the world of Reggae Music. And honestly we can’t believe it has taken us this long to focus on Reggae (Not to be confused with Reggie, there are too many famous Reggie’s apparently) which has influenced countless artists from other genres of music since its early days in the 1960s. So please, get yourself a meat pocket, some jerk chicken, a Red Stripe (maybe a big fat spliff if that’s your thing), and pop in an 8 track of Toots and the Maytals to take yourself to a sunny positive place. The King Bob Marley said it best, “Just can’t live that negative way, make way for the positive day.” CHEERS!!!

This week’s episode has been in the works for quite some time. And MAN it feels good to finally have gotten this week’s guest into Studio B for some conversation, insight and of course some laughs. Thanks to promotions like the UFC, Bellator, and One FC, Mixed Martial Arts has become one of the most popular sports/spectacles in a short period of time. And Tyner The Pirate Chef has been an avid/rabid fan since day one. Just Scott on the other hand, likes West Ham United and all other sports can kick rocks. What better way to school Science Scott, and entertain our listeners than to have a guest who knows a thing or two about combat sports of all sorts. Leroy BIG Johnson has fought for several promotions including Bellator, PFL, and WXC. He also has competed in wrestling through the collegiate level, had an interesting Romanian Kick Boxing bout (tune in to hear about that one), and likes to roll in some Jiu Jitsu tournaments as well. Being that he just happens to be The Pirate Chef’s Brother-In-Law, the two of them have some stories between them that TPC was DYING to tell on the podcast.
