#302: How I’ve Prepared for an Ironman With Type 1 Diabetes
2026/09/16
Earlier this year, Eoin booked an Ironman on his birthday as a gift to himself.
Now, with race day just around the corner, he breaks down what the last six months of preparation have actually looked like while managing Type 1 Diabetes.
In this episode, Eoin talks through the physical training, managing his time around Ironman prep, nutrition, carb loading, and the adjustments he’s made with insulin, ratios and his overall Diabetes management along the way.
He also shares what the final week before the Ironman looks like, what he’s learned throughout the process, and how he’s preparing to get himself to the start line in the best position possible.
This episode gives an insight into Eoin’s personal experience of preparing for an Ironman while living with Type 1 Diabetes, and the lessons he’s picked up along the way.

#299: Jye Warren (Part 2)
2026/05/14
Part 2 of Eoin's chat with Jye Warren (@the_average_athlete_), who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 25 years old and has spent the last 11 years navigating the highs, lows, and relentless mental demands that come with living with this condition every single day.
One of the biggest turning points in Jye’s journey came when his eyesight became impacted because of his diabetes. What started as a frightening wake up call quickly became a moment that forced him to confront the emotional weight, fear, uncertainty, and reality of living with a chronic condition that never truly switches off.
In this conversation, we dive deep into how that experience affected him mentally and emotionally, the resilience it took to keep moving forward, and how it ultimately changed the way he approaches his health, mindset, and life.
We also discuss the hidden mental load of Type 1 diabetes, burnout, identity, community, and why so many people living with diabetes feel pressure to appear like they are coping even when they are struggling internally.
