BioWare is gone, and the quiet way it ended is the saddest part. A studio founded in 1995 by three doctors who wanted to make role-playing games became the place where a generation learned that a party of characters could feel like family. Mass Effect could make a galaxy feel like somewhere you had lived, and now we don't know if we will ever see another entry into the series. EA has closed the studio and cancelled the next Mass Effect in early development, cutting roughly 400 jobs company-wide, about 50 of them at BioWare itself. This one hit close to home because we are big fans of Bioware studio.

Asha Sharma CEO of Xbox, just signed Kayleen Walters to head the XBOX XP division. When Asha presented her roadmap for what to expect from Xbox in the future, she outlined four priorities. Those four things were Core, Content, Creation, and Connection. "Connection" specifically called for pushing Xbox franchises into various media outlets such as Film, TV, Merch, and Live events. It will be Kayleen job to cultivate this division and bring XP to life. Do you think Asha is taking the right steps with this move? Let's talk about it!

Bungie is doing what!?Bungie's Destiny has spent years vaulting content that players paid for and loved — entire campaigns, raids, and destinations like the original Red War storyline and the Forsaken expansion's Tangled Shore — so bringing that old content back would be one of the most welcome moves the studio could make. A "Destiny Legacy" or "Vault Reopened" initiative could restore beloved strikes, patrol zones, and seasonal storylines, letting veterans relive the moments that made them fall in love with the game while giving newer players a chance to experience the history they missed. Now the question is, do you guys think this is a solid idea, or should they focus on Destiny 3?

As planned, Xbox started phase two of their layoffs, and this phase will include studio mergers. It will be a lot of mergers, but the merger everyone seems to be talking about is Activision taking over the Halo franchise. What does a Halo game look like under Activision? I guess we will find out soon enough.

PlayStation seems to be taking hit after hit of bad press. Just a few months ago, people were enraged about the removal of physical discs; now people are wondering what is going on with PlayStation and Kojima as they part ways. Kojima seems to have a vision for his new IP that PlayStation isn't willing to back. Gamescom 2026 was the world's largest gaming event, held August 26–30 at the Koelnmesse fairgrounds in Cologne, Germany. It drew a large number of people from around the globe. A great lineup of games across various genres were shown at the event, and we discussed some of the ones we were excited about.

Grand Theft Auto 6 has been leaked, but we doubt anyone cares. Now what was supposed to be one of the gaming industry's biggest breaches now seems like an elaborate Rockstar promo.

Twitch has quietly started using its users' content to help train Amazon AI models. While there is an option to opt out of this, Twitch doesn't really explain how to do it. DO THE SCIENCE AND PROTECT YOURSELF. OPT OUT OF THIS NOW!

As we get closer to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, people in the gaming community have started to ask where the GTA 6 promo is. Besides the preorder madness, we haven't really heard or seen anything else about the game. While people are anticipating another trailer, Rockstar had other plans. Instead of a trailer, we are getting a Netflix "Extended Look" premiering August 27th.

Gears of War E-Day is a prequel to the Gears of War series that follows a young Marcus Fenix as he struggles to adapt to normal life after the Pedulum War. After only a few weeks of peace, another threat emerges from the underground. For those of you who are familiar with the story, you know what happens next. Everyone here at Super Weapon loves the Gears of War franchise, and we can't wait to play it.

People within Microsoft Xbox Studios seem to feel some way about Game Pass. While some developers said Game Pass saved their studios, others worry about the long-term effects on direct sales. For years, Super Weapon has been trying to figure out the exact payment structure behind Game Pass, but to no avail. The only info we have is from developer interviews and industry reports. Oh, and let's not forget we did discuss the Dr Doom trailer!

Listen we needed a break from the layoff doom and gloom, so we decided to talk to our chat about any and everything. It was a big fat Yap session for episode 276, and honestly I wouldn't blame you if you skipped it LOL.

In the midst of Xbox layoffs, Sony decided that they will no longer sell physical copies of its games. It's almost like they did this on purpose, thinking that gamers would be distracted by the Xbox layoffs that we wouldn'tm notice their tomfoolery!

It's finally happening, Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders are here! During the preorders, fans will have the option between the standard edition and the ultimate edition, which is loaded with items you will never receive if you purchase the standard edition. Sounds a little shady to me, Rockstar Studios, but let's talk about it! Which version will you be buying or have already bought? Leave it in the comments section!

After such a great games showcase, unfortunately, Xbox once again is hit with some heavy setbacks. Financial and strategic pressure has led Xbox down the path of a major corporate reset. This could mean more layoffs as Xbox looks to reduce its labor force in the near future.
