A journey rooted in Mother India, weaving together two of my deepest passions: the practice of Yoga and the living sounds of community. From Tamil folk ceremonies in temples and studios, to the iconic Purple Valley Ashtanga Yoga Shala, practicing alongside John Scott, this episode moves between pulse and count, instinct and discipline. Field recordings, mantra, rhythm, and ambient textures merge into a single listening experience, an invitation to travel through sound, breath, and place.

This new episode is a slow drift into the textures of South India: the restless pulse of Chennai’s streets, the stillness of a yoga shala at dawn, and the vast orchestration of a tropical night storm. These layers are touched gently with electronica—like glimmers of memory, like the way technology sits side by side with tradition in India. And, punctuating the journey, come the voices of teachers: fragments of WhatsApp messages that carry not just words but intention, care, and a lineage of practice in the simplest of forms. The episode is structured as a weave. Streets: density, rhythm, surrender to chaos. Shala: stillness, breath, intimacy with silence. Storm: scale, power, surrender to nature. Messages: guidance, lineage, the human voice carried across time and technology. Electronica acts as a thread, never dominating, but stitching the worlds together. A filtered bass line might echo the rumble of a bus or a thundercloud. A synth pad might stretch like the silence of a shala breath. Digital glitches mirror raindrops striking metal roofs. The weave is intentional but not forced. India itself is a weave: tradition and technology, chaos and stillness, ritual and improvisation. The episode mirrors this reality. The practice of this episode is the practice of listening. Not just passive listening, but active, embodied listening. In yoga, we speak of shravanam—the act of hearing as a form of learning. This is not entertainment. It is presence.

In this episode I take you with me to the opening ceremony of Utsava Yoga festival. opening speeches of Swami Muktidananda ji, Prof. H. V. Nagaraja Rao, Sri Subodh Tiwari, to the background soundscapes of Coorg coffee plantation. I share some of the insights and mainly invite you to listen. listening is always a direct gateway to a more subtle experience.

It is just when I listen back to the recordings, I realize how rich is our soundscape, how ignorant we are to what is being said or heard around us and what a learning experience this provides on this shared soundscape we live in. Listening is a key to understand life, listen to the world around us, listen to others and to ourselves. When we listen the world comes to us, we become receptive, we become present. Spring/Summer has crawled in and in many ways, yet again there is a feeling of regeneration for me. Hi everyone and welcome to sound journeys . Exotic travel thru sounds. In a world exploding with information, we sometimes forget the basics, simple conscious  listening. without gazing at our phones or computer screen. just listen. These episodes are a reminder that we share an amazing soundscape on this planet and that we tend to take it for granted. In this episode we will start our journey in extremely remote village in Tanzania, Africa, a group of woman is herding the cattle out to drink water. walking silently with the herd , reveal details of conversations and skin moving… Reaching the edge of the village we come across a "Hunting Ceremony" where woman and man gather together and start to generate heat (tapas) and energy before going to hunt, the woman chants in high pitch voices to encourage the man to be brave while the man preform breathing (pranayama) exercise, and use voices and drones techniques to answer the calling. I encourage you to take a deep breath and dive into the ceremony , let your imagination take over and just let go, be an observer for your mind and body reaction. From there we will go up north to Jerusalem old city and visit  Chapel of Saint Vincent de Paul, where the Delaware University choir is preparing their live stream from Jerusalem to the graduation ceremony in Delaware ...building up excitement.
