Resting In the Sovereign God

The Apostle Paul wrote the letter to the Philippians from imprisonment in Rome awaiting trial before Emperor Nero. In the letter he expresses his doubts about whether he will will ever live as a free man again. And yet, this epistle is filled with references to joy and rejoicing and an abiding confidence in Almighty God is evident throughout. What was the source of Paul's confidence? How could he have peace in the midst of such uncertainty about his circumstances?
