A "listening heart" | On Read | with Pastor Dan Wilt
2026/11/01
Hearing God's voice is not reserved for pastors or spiritual elites. It is an open invitation to every believer in every ordinary moment of life. At the center of this invitation is the heart, what the Hebrew tradition calls the lev, the true self and seat of the soul. God is not simply looking for people who are impressed by what he does. He is looking for people who love why he does it. Learning to listen to him means moving beyond transactional prayer into genuine conversation. When we cultivate that kind of attentiveness, we become vessels through which his love reaches the people around us. A listening heart, shaped in the secret place, can change the course of someone's entire life.
Opening the eyes of our hearts
2026/10/25
God wants to speak to you directly, not just through pastors or church services, but to your heart and mind. Many of us unknowingly block his voice through shame or fear, afraid of what he might ask us to change. But hearing from God is not reserved for a special class of Christians. It is meant to be a normal, ongoing part of life for every believer. God speaks through his Word, through dreams and visions, through nudges and wisdom, and through knowledge beyond our own understanding. He wants to reveal his glory, your hope, and the power available to you through Christ. You were created with a specific purpose that God prepared in advance, and the only way to walk in it is to keep listening. God is not silent. The question is whether we are positioned to hear him.
When the life you love shatters
2026/10/19
What do you do when the unthinkable happens on an ordinary day? Lyndsay's four-year-old son Zachary suffered a catastrophic accident that left doctors performing emergency surgeries and administering 21 blood transfusions. Through the prayers of family, friends, and strangers around the world, God answered in miraculous ways. Zachary made a full and complete recovery with no long-term effects. Along the way, Lyndsay also learned the power of specific prayer, the freedom that comes from choosing forgiveness, and the unshakable faithfulness of a God who never leaves us alone in our darkest moments.
On Read | The Unmistakable Voice
2026/10/11
In a world full of competing voices and constant noise, hearing from God can feel difficult. But according to John 10, Jesus promises that his sheep know His voice, and that promise is rooted in relationship, not religious technique. The Pharisees in John 9 and 10 serve as a cautionary example of people who knew Scripture deeply yet missed Jesus entirely. Reading the Bible, attending church, and serving others are not duties to check off a list. They are pathways to knowing the Good Shepherd more personally. Jesus does not just offer salvation as a transaction. He invites us into the same depth of relationship we shares with the father. He calls His sheep by name, leads them into a full life, and promises that nothing can snatch them from his hand. The goal is not religious activity. The goal is knowing Him
On Read | Heartburn
2026/10/05
Many believers long to hear from God but overlook the most direct way He speaks: His Word. Just as Jesus walked alongside two heartbroken disciples on the road to Emmaus and opened the Scriptures to them, He walks alongside us today through the Bible. God has not gone silent. He has already spoken, and His words are written down. The Bible is not dead history but a living, active communication line with God Himself. Faith built on emotions alone is unstable, because feelings change, but the Word of God does not. Whether facing fear, shame, or spiritual attack, knowing Scripture gives you the foundation and the strength to stand firm. Opening the Bible daily, even for just ten minutes, is one of the most powerful steps you can take toward hearing God clearly.
Too Great to be Ignored | Bearing Fruit
2026/09/28
Jesus expects His followers to bear fruit, and that fruitfulness is not optional. Drawing from the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25, every believer has been entrusted with something valuable, and the question is not whether God has given you something but what you are doing with it. Burying what God has given out of fear or complacency is not neutral; it has real consequences. Fruitfulness grows out of abiding in Christ, being present in community, and investing your relationships, story, and resources into the mission He has called you to. The love Christians have for one another is itself a witness to the world, and your personal story of holding onto hope in hard times is one of the most powerful testimonies you can offer. Jesus chose you, appointed you, and equipped you to bear fruit that lasts, and that is not a burden but an invitation into His joy.
Greatness That Cannot Be Ignored | Too Great to be Ignored
2026/09/21
True greatness, as Jesus defined it, has nothing to do with titles, power, or public recognition. It is found in serving others and living out the calling God has placed on your life. According to Jesus, the least in the kingdom of God is greater than John the Baptist, which means every believer carries an extraordinary calling. Two things keep people from stepping into that calling: pride and the belief that they are too insignificant to matter. God wants to work through ordinary people in ways that leave an eternal impact on those around them. Your greatness is not just about what God does through you, but also about what God does through others because of you
Tell Your Story | Too Great to be Ignored
2026/09/14
Every believer carries a message the world desperately needs. Sharing faith is not reserved for theologians or those with polished testimonies. It is simply about telling others what God has done in your life. The early church did not pray for safety when they faced opposition. They prayed for boldness. Like a lifeguard calling out to a swimmer who cannot see the danger, we are called to speak with love and urgency. Your story has real spiritual power. Tell it.
Become God’s Family | Too Great to be Ignored
2026/09/08
Being the church means far more than attending a weekly service. When the Holy Spirit moves in someone's life, He draws that person into community with others. This pattern is clear throughout the Book of Acts, where every major outpouring of the Spirit was immediately followed by believers living life together. Jesus Himself prayed in John 17 that His followers would be unified in a way that serves as visible evidence of God's love to the world. That unity is not about perfection but about a people who are growing together, extending grace, and reflecting the love of the Father. The local church, and especially smaller gatherings like life groups, is where that kind of unity becomes tangible and real. When believers love one another authentically, the world sees something it cannot explain apart from God. That is the family He is building, and every believer is invited to be part of it.
Experience God | Too Great to be Ignored
2026/08/31
God has always done things too great to be ignored, from the dramatic outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost to modern-day revivals like the one at Asbury University in 2023. He specializes in taking small, ordinary people and circumstances and doing something extraordinary through them. The early church was not built on programs or events. It was born by the Spirit and sustained by the Spirit. What the church and every individual believer truly needs is not a better calendar of activities, but a genuine filling of the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised that rivers of living water would flow from within those who believe, and that water is meant to spill outward into a thirsty world. Whatever you are facing right now, there is no problem too great to be met by an encounter with the Holy Spirit. He is ready, and He is still moving.
Lessons from Biblical Leaders | Life Stages
2026/08/24
No matter what stage of life you find yourself in, God is already there, and He has a plan. The stories of Ruth, Joseph, Gideon, and Caleb show us what it looks like to stay faithful through every transition, trial, and triumph. Ruth teaches us that choosing the right people shapes who we worship. Joseph reminds us never to use hard circumstances as an excuse for unfaithfulness. Gideon shows us that God sees our true identity even when we cannot, and that we must deal with the idols in our lives before stepping into our purpose. Caleb challenges us to finish strong and hold on to every promise God has spoken, no matter how many years have passed. God was faithful to each of them, and He is faithful to you.
Break the Cycle | Life Stages
2026/08/17
God does not define people by their circumstances. He defines them by His purposes. In the story of Gideon, found in Judges 6 through 8, we see a man hiding in fear who is called a mighty warrior by God before he had done a single mighty thing. Before Gideon could step into that calling, he had to tear down the idols of the previous generation, including the altar to Baal built by his own father. Even after a miraculous victory with just 300 men against an army of 135,000, Gideon eventually rebuilt idolatry in a new form, and the next generation paid the price. The warning is clear: do not let success, recognition, or the praise of people replace God as the center of your identity. Let God define who you are, break the inherited idols, and trust Him to do something in your life that points unmistakably to Him.
Favor in Every Season | Life Stages
2026/08/10
Joseph's life is a powerful reminder that God's favor is not measured by outward circumstances. When his brothers stripped away his robe and sold him into slavery, the symbol of favor was gone, but the favor itself never left. Through every pit, every season of slavery, and every prison cell, God was with Joseph, and that presence produced faithfulness, integrity, and ultimately, redemption. If you belong to Jesus Christ, His favor rests on you through grace, and no circumstance can remove it. The challenge is to remain faithful in the small and difficult seasons, not just the visible and celebrated ones. Choose holiness not to avoid consequences, but because you are set apart for God. Whatever you are walking through right now, God has not abandoned you. His favor is secured by His character, not your circumstances.
Choose Your Party | Life Stages
2026/08/03
The people you choose to walk closely with have more power to shape your life than almost any other decision you make. In the book of Ruth, a young Moabite widow chose to stay with her mother-in-law Naomi rather than return to the safety and familiarity of her homeland. That single relational decision placed Ruth inside the lineage of Jesus Christ, though she could not have known it at the time. Psalm 1 opens the entire book of Psalms with a warning about the company we keep, and Paul reinforces this in 1 Corinthians by reminding us that bad company corrupts good character. The question is not whether you know people who do not follow God, but who holds the strongest influence over the direction of your life. Choose your closest relationships with purpose, and trust God to work out a plan far greater than anything you could arrange on your own.
Don’t You Want to Know a Father Like That | Take Him Personally
2026/07/30
You were never meant to walk through life alone. When you receive Jesus Christ, you are brought into the eternal relationship shared between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the One who makes that divine love real in your everyday life. He reveals the Father as a good and generous God, teaches you more about Jesus through Scripture, and equips you with wisdom for every area of life. His conviction is not rejection but an act of grace, drawing you back into relationship with God. He is not confined to a church building. Because you are His temple, He goes with you everywhere. God does not simply want to visit your life. He wants to make your heart His home.
