I believe the modern church does a horrible job of setting expectations for a new life in Christ. Key Points: Telling new Christians they will get their heart's desire sets them up for false expectations. Two Christian opponents may both pray for victory. Complete faith in a lie does not make it true. Many people believe in false prophecy. God does not bend to their faith. God never promises we won't have storms. He promises to go through them with us. Paul gives a straight forward and direct answer to "What must I do to be saved". Somehow, there is still debate about which church is right. Which church is right? Did Paul give the full answer? Cathololicism teaches heaven is exclusive to Catholics. JW documents teach exclusivity for their witnesses. Many Pentecostals will say, salvation is reserved for Pentecostals. Who is right? The world is upside down and everyone has an opinion. Where do you get your advise from? Do you surround yourself with like-minded people that will always agree with you or do you desire the best advise, even when it make you uncomfortable. So over the last 2 days I have had 6+ hours of discussion with a pastor to dinnertime if I can say I KNOW I am saved TODAY. John 5:24 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
