Human Empathy, Survival and the Power of Truth - Live from Palestine House, London
2026/02/26
It's finally here! Thank you to all who joined us on December 1st, 2025 for a moment of connection, reflection, humour and storytelling. Through awareness, empathy and courage, we are reminded of our shared humanity. Change begins when we show up to tell our stories, when we choose to be truth-tellers even when standing alone and when we have the courage to stand for what is right. It is this that builds hope, resistance and possibility. Grounded in solidarity, connection, and unity, we create spaces for open dialogue and understanding around some of today’s most polarising issues, reminding us of the importance of building a community where every voice matters. Heartfelt thanks to every guest over the past five years who has trusted us with their story and helped shape the journey of Positive Solace. Thank you to Palestine House for thier hospitality, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes including the Positive Solace team and everyone who bought a ticket, donated or shared our event.  Your support made this evening possible. Zainab and her family are deeply grateful. The proceeds from the event have also been shared with an orphan in Gaza. Resistance and change often begin in art and in the art of words. We are all connected; what happens in the world affects us all and each of us has a role to play. Real change begins with listening to one another. Can Tech Help Us Live Better? with Andreas Zimmer
2025/07/01
In this dynamic episode, Attika travels to Berlin for Positive Solace’s first international trip - to explore how fashion-forward technology is changing the future of health and wellbeing. At the launch of the Huawei Watch 5, she sits down with Andreas Zimmer, Head of Product for Huawei Consumer Business Group (Europe), to discuss how wearable smart tech is becoming personally orientated. Made with 904L stainless steel and sapphire glass, the Huawei Watch 5 blends luxury with purpose. Together they explore features like real-time blood oxygen monitoring, stress and heart rate tracking, and advanced sleep analysis and how they are putting wellbeing back in our own hands. In a world where NHS patients often wait weeks to be seen and global appointments can last less than five minutes this conversation asks: can technology help us feel more connected, supported and in control of our own wellbeing? Thanks to the teams at MSL Group and Huawei for inviting us! Politics Solace: UK Post-Election Special
2024/07/07
You may be wondering what the future holds for the UK, following this week's General Election results. The Labour Party's landslide win, the decimation of the previously-ruling Conservatives and Scottish Nationalists, a small but undoubtedly loud smattering of far-right Reform UK representatives and the notable collective of pro-Palestine activists will all take the shape of the next Parliament. In the concluding part of our Politics Solace election specials, Attika and Tom are joined by Sir Gerald Howarth - a former Government Minister and Conservative MP for Aldershot from 1997-2017, Nigel Griffiths - former Deputy Leader of the House of Commons and Labour MP for Edinburgh South between 1987-2010, and Charlotte John, from the organisation Simple Politics. *** Make sure to check out for Positive Solace's Instagram, YouTube and TikTok for more. Breaking the trauma cycle with Dr Mariel Buqué
2023/04/18
In this thought-provoking and stirring episode, Attika gets to the bottom of overcoming trauma. Dr Mariel Buqué is a successful, black, psychologist originally from the Dominican Republic; she is also an author and world-renowned in the treatment of intergenerational trauma - the concept of generational challenges within families. Attika questions Dr Buqué about trauma and how to heal. Dr Buqué has integrated holistic methods into her work, along with indigenous healing practices which have helped to uncover layers of trauma for an entire generation of clients as well as delving into her own personal experience of identity, trauma and healing as someone of Afro-Latina roots. The question is who are you? What exactly does intergenerational trauma entail? And how can we, in our everyday lives, help one another heal the wounds and resultant trauma and break the cycle  through loving and understanding of each other. Laughter, Grief and Identity with Eshaan Akbar
2023/04/11
In this funny and energising episode Attika reconnects with Eshaan Akbar, a British comedian, writer and actor of Bangladeshi-Pakistani heritage. Eshaan's story is quite unique - working initially as a banker, he found his true calling in stand-up comedy after suddenly losing his mother, and has been steadily growing in stature from performing at open mic nights, leading to appearances on prime time BBC shows QI and Mock The Week, to now having his very own tour - 'The Pretender' and playing a role in the upcoming season 4 of Netflix's 'Sex Education'. Attika and Eshaan explore identity, the language used to describe them and what their heritage means to them both, as well as the labels and tropes they've had to endure growing up as people of South Asian descent in Britain. And how impactful their roles in the media have been to date. Belonging to Kashmir with Ahmer Khan
2023/04/04
This week, Attika explores freedom and fulfilment with two time Emmy nominated journalist Ahmer Khan. Growing up in the region of Jammu and Kashmir, Ahmer has seen his paradisiacal homeland be the epicentre of a conflict between India and Pakistan, which has been ongoing since the partition of India in 1947. Despite these troubles at home, and the lack of resources and contacts, Ahmer has become an award-winning journalist, telling stories of humanitarian crisis, conflict, human rights issues and migration particularly in South Asia. Attika and Ahmer dive into an open conversation on one's identity, healing that is needed, as a consequence growing up, living and working in a region wracked with tension and uncertainty - something that Ahmer says he is 'used to' - should that be the case? Take the Best of Every Situation with Mo Jannah
2023/03/14
In Season 3 Episode 5 on Positive Solace, Attika speaks to Mo Jannah, BAFTA nominee and social philanthropist, who is also a life-coach. He is gearing up for his first TEDx talk in April 2023 on “Representation”. Mo talks about his background, his father and his heritage and how it contributed to his progression in life, his experiences working with young offenders and his later work with the BBC in development and production. He struggle with death and loss for a while but found healing partly in nature and how we should take the good where we find it. Choosing Love for the victims with Josie Naughton
2023/03/07
A month ago, in the night of 6th February, a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit southern Turkey and north-west Syria, affecting the lives of millions of people. It was followed by a second quake of 7.5 magnitude. So far, the death toll has exceeded 50,000 with 116,000 injured and millions who have been made homeless.   Thousands of aftershocks and two more recent quakes have left many people fearing to go back inside buildings: they sleep in tents or out of doors. Aid has come from all over the world - including £4.8 million from the organisation, Choose Love. This charity, established in 2015 to support refugees and displaced people fleeing from war or persecution, has grown to be an international aid organisation that also funds first responders and other help agencies in an emergency, like an earthquake. At first they supported 29 different local agencies that responded quickly to the emergency. Now they are focusing on getting everyone into temporary housing, seeing they have food and clothing, and helping those injured in the quakes to recover as much as possible.   Attika engages with Josie Naughton, co-founder and CEO of Choose Love and one of the masterminds behind this amazing charity. Selfless, determined and passionate, Josie and the work of Choose Love, in supporting the people of Turkey and Syria, symbolise the type of love we want to explore in this season: “We need more love and compassion, as we aim to become more humanised, especially at times like this,” says Attika.   They talk about the creation of Choose Love, its mission and the vision of its founders, and we get to know more about the remarkable woman who has devoted so much of her time and energy to making Choose Love what it is today. In fact as we celebrate International Women's Day on 8th of March, it is an appropriate time to listen to such a woman of vision.   If you'd like to help Choose Love in supporting the agencies on the frontline in places like Turkey and Syria - feel free to donate using this link: https://donate.chooselove.org/   With thanks to the Positive Solace team. One’s Spiritual Journey with Jeff Brown
2023/02/28
After reading his insightful book of quotations, 'Hearticulations', Attika's exploration into the themes of love and healing have led to an enlightening talk with a popular Canadian author, 'grounded spiritualist,' and former criminal lawyer, Jeff Brown.     The two ponder the true meaning of life and the existence of 'sacred purpose': the voice inside you that acts as a spiritual guide. They talk about the culture that prevents people from being able to heal and find solace, after experiencing trauma. It is important to find an authentic sense of our own value in a world where surviving and achieving seem to define us.    This episode will leave you mulling over words and ideas, and hopefully deepen your spiritual awareness.  With thanks to the Positive Solace team. Finding Healing after Abuse with Sarah Jane Dias
2023/02/21
As we continue Season 3 of Positive Solace, in Episode 2, the discussion examines how important it is to involve love in the healing process: Attika speaks candidly with her close friend, actress Sarah Jane Dias, a yoga instructor and podcaster. Sarah Jane opens up in an unprecedented conversation about how she was abused as a child, and the impact this has had on her life: depression, anxiety, and grieving the loss of a loved one all threatened to impede her journey towards healing.   Sarah explains what love means to her, and how over time, she feels the healing has exposed and then laid to rest her bad experiences.   Find out more about her feel good community Fegoco here: https://instagram.com/fegoco?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=   With thanks to the Positive Solace team.
