Send us a text As the title says, in this episode we'll learn about the life of Dustin (Dusty) Camp. At the age of 31 Dusty clutched his stomach and collapsed.  He was gone within an hour and we didn't know why for a couple of months.  His official cause of death was a spontaneous dissection of the right iliac artery.  The iliac arteries branch off of the base of the aorta. This part of the aorta is called the abdominal aorta because it's in your belly. The iliac arteries are blood vessels that provide blood to the lower extremities, including the legs, reproductive organs and pelvic region. The pelvis is the lower part of your torso, just above where your legs connect at the hips. Once again, Dusty was 31. An iliac artery aneurysm typically affects older adult males often between 65 and 75 years of age. I remember being told by someone in the medical examiners office that for this to happen to Dusty was not one in a million, but more like one in five million. We'll never know exactly why this happened to Dusty but we believe an accident he suffered a couple of years earlier may have compromised his artery.  In this episode, members of Dusty's family recall "Dusty moments".  I've also included a few songs from artists Dusty enjoyed.  

Send us a text Rod Osborne was an FBI agent for 26 years. He’s lived all over including several faraway places like Spain, the Philippines and China. Now, just this information alone would be enough to get a people person to want to hear Rod’s story but wait; there’s more. Did you happen to see the Hulu docuseries, “Mormon No More”? Rod, his wife Nan, and four of their five children appear in the show which deals with Rod’s daughter Sally falling in love with another woman while both married to men. I may be a bit biased, but I thought it was great! As I visited with Rod and he shared his story, time and time again we realized we had much in common. I should say that Rod and I are friends, teammates on a tournament softball team. As Rod shares his life story, I know each listener will come away impressed by his dedication to family, country and truth.         

Send us a text In high school Steve Gamlin had a crush on a girl named Tina, but he was too shy to ask her out. Twenty-one years later Steve received an email from Tina. She wondered what he was up to because as crazy as it may have seemed, Tina had an interest in Steve in back in high school as well. One thing led to another, and they ended up together. As Steve shares his story, we end up talking quite a bit about Tina & Steve’s relationship and some of the things they have been able to do.  In this episode, Steve talks about his love for Tina and how she has been the inspiration for much of Steve has gone on to accomplish. Send us a text David Kalākaua (1836–1891) was the last reigning king of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi, serving from 1874 until his death in 1891. Known as the "Merrie Monarch", he was a strong advocate of Hawaiian culture, arts, and identity at a time when outside influences were rapidly changing the islands. Kalākaua revived traditional practices such as hula, which had been suppressed by missionaries, and promoted Hawaiian music, dance, and folklore.  His legacy lives on through the Merrie Monarch Festival, an annual celebration of Hawaiian culture and hula named in his honor.  Kalakaua- Renaissance King by Helena G. A message that came his way after the sudden and tragic death of his son Kevin. A big part of his after Kevin story included a long walk with a special message. Send us a text I really enjoyed "talking story" with Bill Simpson. I found him to be authentic as he shared his story of EVENTUALLY learning how to be better at being a kind, empathetic, communicative partner. As Bill shared his story, he talked of failed relationships and what he was doing in these relationships that caused them to eventually implode. One thing Bill did was to seek therapy. But, perhaps the biggest thing he did was to embrace the need to change. Take a listen and just maybe you'll relate to some of what Bill has learned. Luckily he was adopted by a wonderful woman who raised Jacob in Syracuse, NY. Sabrina's grandfather, the patriarch of the family and respected in her community and church was a monster. We discuss her story and touch on important subjects such as the importance of believing a child when they tell of adults hurting them.  I want to say that though Sabrina's life in her youth was horrific, she is now living her best life and has the total support of her husband Dave and son Jack.  Our interview is not nearly as graphic as Sabrina's book, but it still may be triggering for some so it may be wise to pass on this episode.
