The Holy Spirit with Jacob Smith Pt.2
2026/10/28
Holy Ghost Stories, Part 2: The Power to Live Transformed What does it mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit? And what difference should the Holy Spirit make in our everyday lives? In Part 2 of The Holy Ghost, with Pastor Jacob Smith, he joins Cassie again for a conversation about the infilling of the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, and the power God gives His people to live boldly for Jesus. Together, they walk through the book of Acts and explore what it means to pursue the presence of God, surrender in obedience, and make room for the Holy Spirit to work in and through the Church. They discuss the purpose of spiritual gifts, why those gifts are meant to build up the body of Christ rather than draw attention to ourselves, and why boldness in sharing the truth of the gospel matters now more than ever. But this conversation goes beyond supernatural experiences. The Holy Spirit doesn't just empower us for a moment; He transforms us over time. Through repentance, sanctification, and walking in step with the Spirit, our lives should begin to reflect the fruit of the Spirit. Because being filled with the Spirit isn't just about what happens in a church service. It's about who we're becoming as we follow Jesus every day. In this episode, we discuss: What it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit The biblical purpose of speaking in tongues and spiritual gifts How spiritual gifts strengthen the Church and glorify God Why the Church needs the boldness of the Holy Spirit The difference between conviction and condemnation What repentance, sanctification, and spiritual transformation look like Why the fruit of the Spirit matters just as much as spiritual gifts The question isn't simply whether we've experienced the power of the Holy Spirit. It's whether we're allowing Him to lead us, change us, and work through us. Listen in, open your Bible, and let's keep chasing Jesus.
The Holy Spirit with Jacob Smith: Part 1
2026/10/21
Holy Ghost Stories, Part 1: Who Is the Holy Spirit? Who is the Holy Spirit, and what does it actually mean to be led by Him? In this two-part conversation, I'm joined by my cousin, pastor, mentor, and friend Jacob Smith to talk about the person and work of the Holy Spirit—and why understanding Him is essential to the Christian life. We explore what Scripture teaches about the Holy Spirit's eternal nature and His place in the Trinity; His role as our Counselor and the Spirit of truth; and how He points us to Jesus and helps us discern what is true. We also talk about the Spirit's transformative power in our lives, the daily battle against our flesh, and the importance of moving beyond a faith that simply goes through the motions. How do we know whether something is truly from God? Jacob shares two foundational questions to help us discern truth: Does it glorify God? And does it align with His Word? This conversation is about more than spiritual experiences. It's about knowing the Holy Spirit as He is revealed in Scripture and allowing Him to lead us into a life that reflects Jesus. And this is only Part 1. Next week, we'll continue the conversation and explore what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Scriptures discussed: John 14:16–17, John 14:26, John 16:13–14, Genesis 1, and Romans 8. Listen to the Everyday Jesus Podcast wherever you get your podcasts. Know Jesus. Love His Word. Live transformed.
Daniel, the Demonic, and the Lion's Den
2026/10/14
Daniel, the Demonic & the Lion's Den Our culture is fascinated with the supernatural. But what happens when we look for wisdom, guidance, protection, or power outside of God? In this episode of the Everyday Jesus Podcast, Cassie explores what Scripture teaches about divination, witchcraft, sorcery, mediums, astrology, and spiritual counterfeits. Through the stories of Daniel in Babylon, the believers in Ephesus, and other biblical accounts, we'll examine the difference between supernatural experiences and the authority of the one true God. Daniel refused to compromise his devotion to God, even when obedience led him into the lion's den. Likewise, the believers in Ephesus demonstrated genuine transformation by walking away from practices that conflicted with following Jesus. This conversation isn't about becoming fascinated with darkness or living in fear. It's about recognizing where we've placed our trust, surrendering anything that competes with our devotion to Jesus, and standing firm in biblical truth. In this episode, we'll explore: What the Bible says about divination, witchcraft, sorcery, mediums, and astrology. Why not every supernatural experience comes from God.How Daniel modeled faithfulness in a culture of competing beliefs. Why following Jesus requires surrender, not simply adding Him to our existing practices. How Jesus holds ultimate authority over every power and principality. What it means to trust God even when obedience comes at a cost. The goal isn't to become experts in darkness. It's to know the Light. Join Cassie as we pursue an everyday, ever-present relationship with Jesus — learning to know Him, love His Word, and live transformed. Scripture references: Deuteronomy 18:10–12; Daniel 2 and 6; Acts 16:16–18; Acts 19:11–20; Galatians 5:19–21; Ephesians 6:10–18; James 4:7; Colossians 2:13–15.
This is Us: Marriage, Parenting, and Ministry
2026/10/07
What does it look like to actually build your life on Jesus? This week, I’m joined by my husband, Dustin, for a conversation about marriage, parenting, ministry, and the things Jesus has taught us along the way. We talk about making Jesus the foundation of our home, raising children who know Christ—not just church, learning to steward what God has entrusted to us, and choosing obedience even when it isn’t popular. We’re not sharing from a place of having it all figured out. We’re sharing what we’ve learned from walking with Jesus through the real stuff of life. My hope is that this conversation encourages you to know Jesus more deeply, love His Word, and let Him transform every area of your life. More about Cassie linktr.ee/cassiedowns
More Than Words: Going Deeper
2026/09/23
Context changes everything. In part two of our conversation about God’s Word, we’re going deeper into how to study Scripture faithfully. What happens when we cherry-pick a verse? How do we determine its context? And what does it mean to let Scripture interpret Scripture? We’ll look at passages like Philippians 4:13, Ephesians 2, and James 2 to see why context matters—and how understanding God’s Word should ultimately lead to applying God’s Word. Because Bible study isn’t about checking a box or simply gaining information. Scripture reveals Jesus, shapes us into His likeness, and teaches us how to live as His disciples. Know Jesus. Love His Word. Live transformed. Download the PDF More about Cassie and her ministry.
More Than Words: Start Here
2026/09/16
The Bible is more than words on a page—it’s God’s living Word, and it continually points us to Jesus. In Part 1 of More Than Words, we’re starting with the foundation: the connection between Jesus, truth, and Scriptureand why time in God’s Word matters for our everyday lives. But if you’ve ever wondered, Where do I even start?—this episode is for you. We’ll talk about building a Bible-reading habit, choosing a translation, where to begin in Scripture, and simple study methods that can help you move from simply reading the Bible to understanding it. Whether you’re opening your Bible for the first time or you’ve been reading it for years, my prayer is that this episode helps you know Jesus, love His Word, and live transformed. Jesus Jujitsu: Dealing with conflict the Jesus way
2026/09/09
What does it look like to handle conflict like Jesus? In this episode, we’re talking about “Jesus Jujitsu”—learning how to respond to conflict without becoming like the situation we’re fighting. We’ll talk about holding truth and love together, becoming peacemakers instead of peacekeepers, letting go of past offenses, and trusting God with someone else’s response. Because the goal isn’t to win the argument. The goal is to respond in a way that looks like Jesus. Let’s learn to fight back the Jesus way. linktr.ee/cassiedowns

Hi, My Name Is...Redeemed
2026/08/26
Hi, My Name Is... Redeemed What does it actually mean to be redeemed? It's a word many of us have heard in church, but it's so much more than a theological term. Redemption is the beautiful reality that Jesus paid the price to bring us back to Himself. In this episode, we're walking through Ephesians to discover what redemption really means and how this new identity changes the way we live every day. If you've ever wondered whether your past still defines you, or struggled to believe that God's grace is enough, this conversation is for you. Your story may include failure, but your identity is found in Christ. If you belong to Him, you are redeemed. Connect with Cassie
Hi, My Name Is...Called
2026/08/19
Hi, My Name Is... Called What does it really mean to be "called" by God? For many of us, the word calling or called immediately brings to mind a career, ministry, or unique purpose. We spend years trying to discover what God wants us to do. But what if Scripture points us somewhere deeper first? In this episode, we're looking at Ephesians to discover that our first calling isn't an assignment—it's an invitation into a relationship with Jesus. From that relationship flows every good work He has prepared for us. We'll talk about: Why identity comes before assignment. The difference between our universal calling and our individual callings. Why abiding in Christ always comes before bearing fruit. How to stop striving for purpose and start walking faithfully with the One who called you.If you've ever wondered whether you're missing God's will for your life or felt pressure to figure out your purpose, this conversation is for you. Your first calling isn't to do something for Jesus. Your first calling is to belong to Jesus. Everything else flows from there. Connect with Cassie
Hi, My Name Is...Chosen
2026/08/12
Have you ever quietly wondered, "Does God actually want me?" Maybe you know God loves you, but deep down you still wrestle with whether He truly wants you. In this episode, we're continuing the Hi, My Name Is... series by discovering what it means to be chosen. Together we'll unpack Ephesians 1 and learn that before the foundation of the world, God knew you, loved you, and made a way for you through Christ. You'll also learn how to recognize three common lies that keep us from living like we've been chosen—and how God's truth sets us free. If you've ever battled shame, rejection, comparison, or felt like you needed to clean yourself up before coming to God, this episode is for you. You don't have to earn being chosen. You already belong to Christ. 🎧 Listen now and be encouraged to walk confidently in the identity God has already given you. Connect with me:https://linktr.ee/cassiedowns
Hi, My Name Is... Child of God
2026/08/05
Who does God say you are? In a world constantly telling us to "find ourselves," Scripture offers a better invitation: You don't have to search for your identity because, in Christ, you've already been found. In this first episode of the Hi, My Name Is... series, we're exploring one of the most foundational truths of the Christian life: you are a child of God. Together we'll walk through Ephesians 1 and discover what it means to be adopted into God's family, why your identity is something you receive—not achieve—and how knowing whose you are changes everything. If you've ever struggled with your worth, questioned your identity, or felt like you had to earn God's love, this episode is for you. Identity always precedes transformation. When you know whose you are, you can begin living like who He's called you to be. 🎧 Listen now, and if this episode encourages you, share it with a friend who needs the reminder today. Moving from Knowing Truth to Living Truth
2026/07/29
After weeks of talking about truth, discernment, false teaching, and rightly dividing God’s Word, it’s time to ask an important question: Now what? Truth was never meant to simply fill our minds—it was meant to transform our lives. In this episode, we’re exploring what it means to move beyond simply knowing the truth and begin living it every day. Together we’ll look at what Jesus taught about abiding in Him, why God’s Word calls us to be doers and not hearers only, and how a life rooted in Christ naturally begins to bear fruit. Because the goal of the Christian life isn’t winning arguments or collecting more knowledge. It’s becoming more like Jesus. Key Scriptures: John 8:31–32James 1:22–25John 15:1–8John 14:6 Reflection Question:What truth do you already know that God is asking you to obey today? If this episode encourages you, be sure to follow the podcast, leave a review, and share it with a friend. Together, let’s know Jesus, love His Word, and live transformed.  More about Cassie linktr.ee/cassiedowns
