Choosing the Right Microphone I advise against relying solely on your smartphone or laptop's built-in mic. While it's better than nothing, the audio quality may not meet your expectations. For a higher quality option, I recommend the Samsung Q2U microphone. It's affordable and offers clearer audio than a phone mic. Plus, it comes bundled with a free pop filter or windshield to minimize unwanted noises.   2. Podcast Recording and Editing Software To start recording and editing your podcast, I suggest free apps like Anchor and Podbean. Anchor (now owned by Spotify) and Podbean both provide basic editing features without the need for additional equipment. Anchor even offers a library of free music tracks that can be added to your podcasts.It’s easy to repurpose your content all over the place, particularly if you start with a live video.   3. Just Start Recording My most important piece of advice is to simply start recording. Even if it's just speaking to yourself for a few minutes each day, this allows you to get comfortable speaking without visual feedback and practice your presentation skills. You don't need elaborate topics; chatting about your day is sufficient. The key is to take action and not get caught up in overthinking technical details or content ideas.   4. Regular Practice Makes Perfect Regular practice is the key to improving your podcasting skills. Start with a few minutes of daily recording and gradually increase the duration. Over time, you'll become more comfortable with full-length episodes and develop your unique style. Remember, it's all about gaining experience and building confidence. There are loads of ways live video podcasting can be great for your business, here are 5 of them that I discuss in this bite-sized shortie episode. Video podcasting is going to continue to rise reaching over 100 million listeners this year. Can you believe that? It provides you with visibility and a very strong personal brand. People listening can multitask and this makes it great for attracting high ticket clients, who are very busy people. It’s easy to repurpose your content all over the place, particularly if you start with a live video. It stops procrastination and it gets you into momentum. This is my favourite!

People often ask me “how much time does it take to produce a podcast episode? Surely it takes absolute ages!” It really doesn't need to. I have never taken a long time to produce a podcast episode, unless there were major audio issues. Firstly, you need to think about some depending factors.  Do you want your audio or podcast live video podcast to be really slick with no umms or pauses or breath sounds? Do you want to add music? Do you want to add an intro and an outro? Do you want to add an advert or two? Do you want to get imporove the sound quality? How long is the show as well? And is there one or two people or maybe more? Are you both in person or talking to each other over Zoom or another conferencing or podcasting program? So all these things are depending factors. For my own live podcast show, I produce it to a medium standard, with some breath sounds, pauses and only a few filler words. This is my basic workflow which generally takes 1 ½ hours for a ½ hour live podcast show: I transcribe the words and edit out most filler words and any repetitions I then use an automated tool to improve the audio quality quickly and easily I add the intro, outro, an advert if necessary and fade the music in and out I then upload the edited audio file to my podcast hosting platform and add a description (show notes) and any links As soon as I click publish the podcast is automatically sent to Apple, Spotify, Google podcasts etc   It’s an easy workflow and doesn’t take too long at all. I do depend on my favourite 2 podcasting tools though to make it happen. Today’s fab podcast convo was all about websites. Katrina Fouracre is a self-taught WordPress expert with 10 years of experience helping entrepreneurs build websites.  These are the questions she was asked, which are common questions amongst creators, live streamers and podcasters.  Her answers are insightful, so I hope they help you. 1) What is the best website platform?  Katrina believes that any platform can be good for SEO depending on the content and design, not the platform itself. WordPress is flexible and can grow with a business as it scales, unlike platforms like Wix and Squarespace which limit functionality.  2) How can websites can help creators and podcasters? Katrina explains that websites are the "glue" that connects all marketing strategies by providing central information. They add credibility and trust compared to those without sites. While social media is useful, people research online and websites provide accessible information.   3) How often should you update your website? Katrina recommends updating WordPress weekly/fortnightly for security and consistency for content without focusing on quantity over quality. Divi and Elementor themes are beginner friendly but can slow sites.    4) How can you have videos or podcasts on a website without slowing it down? Videos should be hosted externally on YouTube/Vimeo and embedded.  For fast hosting, consider storage, servers in the target country/region, SSL certificates (included standard), and good support. Resources needed scale with site size/content. Regular maintenance also impacts speed.
