Natasha Shidrivaya on Seeds, New Birth, and Gospel Work in Russia
2026/10/22
Angel speaks with Natasha Shidrivaya, president of the Calvary Fellowship of Churches in Russia and the founder of Village Gospel Harvest Vision. Natasha shares her testimony of coming to Christ from atheism, how American missionaries shaped her calling, and why she believes the church must focus on heart change, not systems or politics. They also discuss village ministry, persecution from religious systems, and how simple acts of faith can open whole communities to the gospel. To find out more about Natasha’s ministry: https://villageharvest.info/ Key topics     •    Natasha’s conversion story - She grew up as an atheist under Soviet communist propaganda, came to Christ in 1990 at age 29 or 30, and describes her salvation as a radical before-and-after moment.     •    Seeds planted across generations - Natasha shares how her grandmother’s repeated story about her great-grandfather reading a Bible in secret became meaningful only after she was born again.     •    The role of American missionaries - She credits American missionaries with encouraging her as a woman minister and helping her see that she was “more than an interpreter.”     •    Marriage ministry and redemptive healing - A book Angel shared with her reshaped her view of marriage, moving her from a traditional, sacrificial model to a Christ-centered, redemptive one.     •    Village Gospel Harvest Vision - Natasha explains her call to reach villages across Russia through evangelism, home churches, and smaller relational settings for discipleship.     •    Why churches must disciple, not just gather crowds - Natasha emphasizes that going to church is not the same as following Jesus, and that new birth is the most important miracle.     •    The gospel in indigenous communities - She tells the story of missionaries bringing the Gospel of Mark in the Enet’s language, which helped revive local language use and opened the whole settlement to ministry.     •    Persecution from religious systems - In one village, a local priest tried to shut down an outreach event, but police intervened, the crowd stayed, and many heard the gospel.     •    Jesus changes hearts, not political systems - Natasha argues that Christians are called to sow seeds, pray, repent, and transform hearts rather than put ultimate trust in governments.     •    Sowing matters more than measuring harvest - She closes by saying success is measured by faithful sowing on all kinds of soil, not by immediate results. Timestamps 00:00 - Natasha shares how American missionaries refreshed her calling 03:15 - A hidden Bible in her family becomes a generational seed 05:01 - From Soviet atheism to discovering God is real 08:23 - Why her great-grandfather’s faith still mattered decades later 11:34 - Angel introduces Natasha’s ministry and vision for Russia 13:12 - Why Natasha was skeptical of a marriage book at first 14:29 - A redemptive view of marriage centered on Jesus 16:57 - Why village ministry is more relational and effective 19:08 - Church attendance is not the same as following Jesus 21:30 - What it means to be born again for real 24:23 - The moment Natasha’s life changed on May 13, 1990 26:31 - Relationship evangelism and the faith of a child 27:31 - Ministry across central Russia, Siberia, and above the polar circle 28:46 - The Gospel of Mark in the Enet’s language 30:32 - How one local order turned into a citywide opening for ministry 33:51 - God moves even in harsh, spiritually resistant places 34:19 - Religious persecution in the Kursk region 36:44 - A priest shuts down an outreach, but the crowd still hears the gospel 40:58 - Healing, salvation, and a home group begin in a gypsy family 42:15 - Why Christians should not hand responsibility to politicians 45:03 - Lessons from Daniel on uncompromising faith 47:26 - Sowing seeds on hard ground, thorny ground, and roadside hearts 50:48 - How to learn more about Natasha’s ministry 52:26 - Prayer requests for Russia, healing, and spiritual renewal

Word for the Year
2025/01/31
Focus. That is the word God gave me for the year when I was invited by a friend to think of one. It popped into my mind and went with what I had already heard: “More of the Word; Less of the World.”  I knew what God was telling me: “Let’s not get bogged down in the Headlines or the trends and tragedies of the day. Let’s focus on the eternal word and ways of God.” Yes, we glance at the problem to become His hands and feet here on earth. But as we gaze on Jesus and the beauty of the Gospel, we can combine the two and change the world one person at a time. Who wants to join in? Galatians 2: 1-10 Psalm 46:10 Isaiah 30:15
