Two very important, yet very different missions were successfully accomplished this past week. The US successfully retrieved two aviators from a downed F15 that was shot down over Iran. The US also successfully retrieved four astronauts after they splashed down in the ocean near San Diego. It was the first lunar mission since 1972. Every once in awhile, Easter and Passover overlap perfectly as it does this year. It's a time when Jews and Christians celebrate traumatic endings and new beginnings. For Jews, they remember a time when they were led out of bondage and began a new era of freedom. It was a difficult experience but they came out of it the better and stronger for it. For Christians too, it is a time to remember leaving one world and entering a new one. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week for Christians. Two good movies on the subject are The Chosen (season 5) and The Passion of the Christ. NASA has announced plans for a lunar base. The forced removal of Nicholas Maduro from power in Venezuela is a good thing. Now the main focus needs to be on restoring political power back to the Venezuelan people. Edmundo Gonzalez, who is recognized by many countries as the rightful, duly-elected leader of Venezuela should be allowed to assume power in that country as soon as possible. The idea that Maduro’s appointed Vice President, Delcy Rodriguez, may be allowed to stay in power is concerning, unless it is made clear that she will only serve as an interim leader. The Venezuelan people accepting any continuation of the Maduro regime seems unlikely. A bad idea whose time has come? Antisemitism is a big problem. Western countries, including Australia, have hate problems, but curtailing free speech isn't the answer. It's throwing the baby out with the bathwater. "Hate speech" is just a symptom of a larger problem. The problem is the marriage of Cultural Marxism and Islamism. These things have to be rooted out of society and out of our institutions.
