EP 325: Jailer 2 + the girl who broke superstition
2026/10/11
In this week’s episode, we get into Jailer 2 and discuss whether the sequel will be a success. We also talk about Chinese horror content creator Jiang Xiaorou, who debunked superstitions on camera and died in a road accident, just as a fortune teller had predicted.
Finally, we share the superstitions we grew up with, the ones we still follow, and our own stories, including a KL Airbnb where we were the only ones on the floor and something kept knocking at night. Enjoy folks!
EP 324: Suriya & Jyotika's vow renewal + what fatherhood really looks like
2026/10/04
In this week's episode, we give our honest take on Suriya and Jyotika's vow renewal in Scotland and what social media does to our expectations of marriage. Nobody posts about fighting with their partner, so people end up measuring their own relationship against a highlight reel. We also discuss why our sons run to their mothers and not us, how we are working on our tone of voice, and the tantrum tactics that actually work. If you have older kids, let us know in the comments what is in store for us. Enjoy folks!
EP 323: Best emo Tamil songs
2026/09/27
Parithaabangal! This week, we discuss our favourite emo Tamil songs, ranging from emo love songs to general emo songs that resonate with us the most. We also discuss Sai Abhyankkar's Radhima, Yuvan Shankar Raja's magic, and much more.
Enjoy the episode, and let us know what your favourite emo songs are!
EP 322: Why are Singapore's leaders going to earn even more?
2026/09/20
This week we debate the recent pay raise for Singapore's political leaders. Why does the country pay its leaders this much in the first place? Part of it is attracting people who could earn far more elsewhere, part of it is keeping the system clean.
But here's the thing. As NSFs we were paid a fraction of that and told it was our duty to serve the nation. So why doesn't that same argument apply both ways? We also explain why that gap may actually be necessary.
We also talk about how our own interest in politics started, comparing what we saw growing up in Tamil Nadu and Malaysia, before bringing it back home to Singapore.
What's your take? Let us know in the comments
Ep 321: Best Indian drink + food combinations
2026/09/13
In this episode of Vada Poche Tamil Podcast, we discuss the best Indian drink pairings for the perfect Indian meal. We argue it out over Bru vs Nescafé and share our honest opinions on Neslo. Plus, we explore which Western dish Bru would work best with and much more.
Join in the conversation and let us know your thoughts!
EP 320: Men wearing jewellery = Feminine?
2026/09/06
In this episode of Vada Poche Tamil Podcast, we get into male fashion, especially whether accessories and Jewellery make a man feminine, where that idea came from, and why something that once signalled nobility now gets questioned.
We also get into the etiquette side, like why you don't button the bottom button on a suit, and whether rules like that still mean anything. Should fashion be updated, scrapped, or left alone? And what does this generation actually count as fashion? Put on your best dress and enjoy the show!
EP 319:Anxiety issues - How we deal with them & what caused them
2026/08/30
In this episode of Vada Poche Tamil Podcast, we get into something we've never really spoken about on here. What sets off our anxiety, what we think it goes back to, and the bits of childhood that shaped us more than we realised. None of us have a diagnosis. All of us know the feeling anyway. Some of us have found a way through it. Some of us are still figuring it out.
We're not experts and this isn't advice. It's three friends being honest about something Tamil households don't really talk about, in case it helps someone to hear it.
⚠️ Content note: this episode discusses anxiety and difficult childhood experiences. Look after yourself listening, and skip it if it's not a good time. If you're struggling, you're not alone. In Singapore, SOS is on 1767 (or CareText 9151 1767), and mindline.sg has free support.
EP 318: Is Rajini Typecast? The Kollywood Typecasting Debate
2026/08/23
Sharif called Vijay Sethupathi a typecast actor. Bharath did not take it well. That one line turned into a whole episode. Is being typecast actually a bad thing, or is it just what happens when an actor is very good at one thing? We argue it out, and go further, is Rajini typecast too?
We also hit a million views on Instagram this week, and talk about why we are not really celebrating it. Plus a quick one on the new Meta glasses and what they mean for privacy.
EP 317: The New Wave of Tamil Rap ft JQueen & Dacalty
2026/08/16
In this episode of Vada Poche Tamil Podcast, we sit down with Jacquilin Lucas aka JQueen and Dinesh Kumar aka Dacalty, two of the names pushing Tamil rap forward right now. We get into their journeys, what shaped their sound, and the state of rap culture in India and where Tamil rap sits inside it.
Plus a rapid fire round, and everything you need to know about Urban Gethu, where you can catch them live in Singapore.

2026/08/09
This week, we have two very special guests with us. The OGs of Tamil Hip Hip Yogi B and Emcee Jesz are in the studio! We get into Vallavan and the stories behind the tracks, the early days when nobody was checking for Tamil rap, and what they make of the new generation coming through.
Plus a proper debate on whose biryani wins between Malaysia, Singapore and Chennai, and everything you need to know about Urban Gethu, where you can catch them live in Singapore.

EP 315: Is Singapore's Biryani Standard Getting Worse?
2026/08/02
Sharif brought biryani to the studio. Ten minutes later we were arguing about whether Singapore can still cook it properly.
We ranked our top 3 in each category — nasi biryani (the local Malay-style version), dum biryani, and South Indian. Then we got into why standards here are slipping, whether home-based cooking is the real future of F&B, and what happens to food businesses when the new Singapore–JB rail link opens. Sit back, relax and probably best to have a biryani while you watch this week's debate!
EP 314: Our Weirdest Indian Food Combos
2026/07/26
One of us was disgusted. The other wasn't impressed. Nobody agreed.
This week Yuva and Bharath get into Indian food combinations, the pairings we swear by and the ones that make people stare. Veg, non-veg, and the hybrid combos that shouldn't work but somehow do. Some of these genuinely put Yuva off his food. Others were too plain to win Bharath over.
Before that, we pick up where we left off on Tekka. For those outside Singapore: The food quality is one thing. But the vibe is the real loss, and honestly it's been gone since around 2016. Tell us in the comments whose side you're on and if you feel the same about Tekka.
EP 313: Is Tekka Losing Its Soul?
2026/07/19
We went to Tekka for a meal and walked out disappointed. And it got us asking a bigger question.
Tekka, the heart of Singapore's Little India, where generations of Indian Singaporeans have eaten and grown up is changing. New kinds of food moving in, the old feel slipping away. Jawhar and Bharath talk about what's gained and what's lost.
Then it gets personal: when a relative or friend quietly distances themselves, and you bump into them outside — what do you do? Plus World Cup talk: how France cooked themselves, Spain or Argentina for the trophy, and why Brazil isn't Brazil anymore.
EP 312: Haunted Roads of Singapore & Malaysia + Obsession Movie
2026/07/12
Some roads in Singapore and Malaysia, people simply refuse to drive at night. This week we found out why. It's our spookiest episode yet. Jawhar and Yuva get into the stories behind Karak Highway and Devil's Bend, the legends, the sightings, and the ones that are a little too consistent to laugh off.
Before that, they go in on Obsession, the horror film everyone's talking about, and end up in a proper debate: when a wish turns your crush into a monster, who's the real victim, Bear or Nikki? Listen with the lights on. Or don't. Your call 👀
EP 311: Pritam Singh, the WP and a World Cup We Can't Get Into
2026/07/05
Pritam Singh is no longer Leader of the Opposition. But he's still leading the Workers' Party. Should he be?
That's the question Singapore has been arguing about, so this week we sat with it properly. We're not here to tell you what to think. We lay out the arguments on both sides, talk through what we understand and what we don't, and share where we honestly land.
Then we switch gears completely: the World Cup is on, and somehow we can't get into it. We talk about why, what's wrong with the commentary, and who we think wins it anyway.
This one's a sensitive topic and we've done our best to be fair to all sides. Hear us out in full before you judge us in the comments 😅
