The Lord is risen indeed! For Christians around the world, this is a day to celebrate — Jesus is alive and well. The resurrection surprised many who didn't believe, and even some of His own disciples. Today we reflect on how God is a God of wonderful surprises. On this Palm Sunday we are remembering not only the entrance of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem, but we are taking a look at what happened just a few days later on a hill called Calvary. The question has sometimes been raised, "Who was it that crucified Jesus?" Was it the Romans, the Jews, the angry mob? Just who was responsible for His death on that old, rugged cross? Last Sunday our thoughts were on the subject of "The Holiness of God." But God's holiness is only a part of the true picture of God. Today we look at God's nature, not just as a God of power, majesty, and splendor, but also a God who is near us, as the song says, "He walks with me and He talks with me." He is a God who is a God of love. The Apostle Paul said in Romans 5:8, "God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." One of the oldest and most beloved of our Christian hymns is "Holy, Holy, Holy!  Lord God Almighty." The words were written by Reginald Heber, who was born in 1783. When we say that God is holy, what does that mean? This may sound like a dull, uninteresting subject, but today we are going to look at what God's holiness means to us in our everyday lives. Those who have been to Ocean Lakes know that after passing the Security Building, then passing two lakes, you come to a fork in the road. The right fork is called Sunset Trail, while the left road leads to the water park, the ocean, and the Recreational Building, when we have our worship service every Sunday. When we give instructions to guests who are unfamiliar with Ocean Lakes, we try to explain very clearly THE WAY for them to go. The Bible has a lot to say about "The Way." And that's what we are thinking about in the sermon today. The life which Jesus came to give us is a joyous life, and it is truly THE way. We conclude today the series of messages on the subject of "God's Miraculous Plan of Economy." In this series, we have been reminded that everything belongs to God, and the way we get hold of God's wealth is by giving. The big question is, "How do we give?" Today we are using a term which is not usually associated with giving. Our subject this morning is "Hilarious Giving." Is that right? Absolutely! Let's think together about what that means. We continue today looking at "God's Miraculous Plan of Economy." Someone has described one of the great sins of our day to be "The Sin of Sermon Listening." That means some people may hear a sermon, no matter how inspired it may be as a message from God, but then these go their merry way in everyday living without applying God's message to their daily lives. If God has a great, miraculous plan to guide us in an unsteady economy, then the question arises, "Why Give?" That's what we are thinking about today. But if there is anything in our lives which presents a problem or challenge for us, God has a way to help us, and He is ready, if we will listen to Him and fit into His plans. The older we get, and hopefully, the more maturity we have, we look at our lives and sometimes ask, "What contribution is my life making in this world which will be lasting after I am gone?" Surely there are things more important than having a large bank account, material things, or words of praise that might be said at my funeral. Today we will be taking the long look at some important ways in which we can make our life count.  We'll be looking at several Bible references, and our key Bible verse is Paul's statement in Philippians 4:13. Here we are now midway through January, and some are looking back at how they've already failed to live up to new year's resolutions. That can be quite discouraging. One of the biggest jobs we all have during this new year is that of trying to decide what is important and what is not so important. We are all guilty at times of putting major emphasis on minor matters. But how do we sort out and decide between the things that are urgent and things that are essential?
