Oct 25, 2026 - Be First - Week 2 - Listen
2026/10/26
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris We live in a culture that has gotten really good at waiting on the other person. I’ll listen when they listen. I’ll apologize when they apologize. I’ll forgive when they make it right. I’ll show respect when they’ve earned it. But Jesus calls us to a different way of living. BE FIRST: Why the First Move Matters is a series about refusing to let someone else’s actions determine ours—and learning to take the first step toward healthier, stronger relationships. SCRIPTURE: James 1:19-20, James 3:5-6, Matthew 11:28-30, Psalm 116:1-2, 1 John 1:8-9

Oct 11, 2026 - What Are You Waiting For - Week 4 - Living While We Wait
2026/10/12
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris How citizens of tomorrow live today. The World to Come isn't only something we believe is on its way. It changes us. Scripture: Matthew 6:19–21; 1 Corinthians 15:58; 2 Peter 3:11–13
Oct 4, 2026 - What Are You Waiting For - Week 3 - When the King Returns
2026/10/04
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris Why Christians should long for the return of Jesus! The Christian doesn't hear about the return of Jesus and think, "I hope I've been good enough." Our confidence isn't in our ability to survive the judgment. Our confidence is in Christ.
Sept 27, 2026 - What Are You Waiting For - Week 2 - How Is God Getting Us There?
2026/09/28
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris The story of Israel, the nations, and the Messiah… God chooses the ONE to bless EVERYONE. God chose one family so that every family could share in the blessing of His restored world. Scripture: Genesis 12:1–3; Isaiah 49:6; Romans 11; Revelation 7:9–10
Sept 20, 2026 - What Are You Waiting For - Week 1 - The World To Come
2026/09/21
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris We have often reduced Christian hope to “Where do I go when I die?” While our hope can and does answer that critical question, Scripture tells a much bigger story. God is restoring what sin has broken, Jesus’ resurrection has already begun that restoration, and we are living between this age and the age to come.  Scripture: John 12:49–50, Matthew 12:28–29, Romans 8:19–24, Revelation 21:1–5
Sept 13, 2026 - The Gospel of Luke - Week 19 - Are You THE One
2026/09/14
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris Luke 7:11-23 - "Are you the Messiah or should we be looking for someone else?" Even in doubt and disappointment (when we are most likely to resist Jesus’ lead), Jesus continues to prove He is exactly who we need.
Sept 6, 2026 - The Gospel of Luke - Week 18 - Unexpected Faith
2026/09/06
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris Luke 7:1-10 - "Jesus was amazed." And it might surprise you by what! The people you least expect may be the ones who truly trust Jesus.
August 23, 2026 - The Gospel of Luke - Week 17 - More Than Words
2026/08/23
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris Luke 6:43-49 - "So why do you keep calling me 'Lord, Lord!' when you don't do what I say?" Calling Jesus “Lord” means nothing if your life doesn’t follow.
August 16, 2026 - The Gospel of Luke - Week 16 - Measure for Measure
2026/08/17
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris Luke 6:37-42 - "The amount you give out will determine what you get back... judgment or mercy?" The mercy you give reveals the Kingdom you actually belong to.
August 9, 2026 - The Gospel of Luke - Week 15 - Love Your Enemies
2026/08/10
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris Luke 6:24-36 - What sorrow awaits you, but not if you do good to those who hate you - as you are compassionate like the Father is compassionate. The Kingdom reverses everything – even how we treat those who hurt us. The Kingdom of God changes what we value so that we begin reflecting who our Father is.
August 2, 2026 - The Gospel of Luke - Week 14 - The Blessed Upside Down
2026/08/10
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Tim Bryant Luke 6:20-23 - "Jesus turned to his disciples and said, WHAT A BLESSING..." In Jesus’ Kingdom, the overlooked ones are the ones who are fulfilled… not based on what we have, but how we see our need.
July 26, 2026 - The Gospel of Luke - Week 13 - Down the Mountain
2026/07/28
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris Luke 6:12-19 - "When they came down from the mountain." After Jesus calls his disciples, they are not set up high and mighty, but they must get down into real life with hurting people. The “calling out” didn’t set the disciples up as high and mighty – it led them to be close to the people. Even a list of names tells us what kind of King Jesus is.
July 19, 2026 - The Gospel of Luke - Week 12 - Lord Over it All
2026/07/20
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jason Garris Luke 6:1-11 - "I am Lord even over the Sabbath." Jesus confronts rigid religious practice and reclaims what the law was meant to do.
July 12, 2026 - The Gospel of Luke - Week 11 - New Wine Kingdom
2026/07/13
Highland Christian Church - Asheville, NC Communicator - Jacob Prater Luke 5:33-39 - "New wine must be stored in new wineskins." Jesus isn’t patching holes that religion can’t meet, He’s doing something totally new.
