Daftaboutcraft - BONUS EPISODE - Christmas special (December 23, 2025)
2025/12/23
Dave B and Dave D are waiting for your messages!
Everyone has Christmas traditions and we're no different at Daftaboutcraft! It's our annual Christmas bonus episode where we enjoy pairing cheese and beers - as well having a good old chimwag about the past 12 months.
This year the beer takes centre stage with special releases from Fuller's Brewery in the shape of their 180th anniversary porter, plus this year's three barley wines from Thomas Hardy Ales.
So join us for one last time in 2025 as Dave B and Dave D see out the year in style!
We're delighted to be backed by Craft Brew Festival, curators of a unique beer festival tour across Britain, and Mosaic Board Print, manufacturers of epic beermats.
Daftaboutcraft - Episode 78 (December 11, 2025)
2025/12/11
Dave B and Dave D are waiting for your messages!
Christmas is fast approaching and our sack is full of craft beer goodies as Dave B and Dave D bring episode 78 to you!
One of the staples of the podcast since it started has been Brew To Me, but we're going to mix it up a little bit and alternate this feature with What's In The Fridge? This new segment will give us a chance to get through some of those beers lurking in the depths of the Daftaboutcraft vault but also test our tasting skills as we'll be presented with them blindly and have to do our very to work out what it is we're drinking.
We're joined by Edd Simpson, managing director of Ossett Brewery and SALT for this episode's interview. The main topic of discussion is Ossett's tremendous Rat range of beers, but there is plenty more to talk about as well (plus get your ears ready for the most seductive review of a beer you might have ever heard!)
Tried and Tested takes in our most recent favourite beers, and we're heading to Bristol via Wiper And True to taste a beer they recently contract brewed with hops grown by care home residents.
All this and more on the latest episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast.
We're delighted to be backed by Craft Brew Festival, curators of a unique beer festival tour across Britain, and Mosaic Board Print, manufacturers of epic beermats.

Winter is fast approaching and here's another episode of Daftaboutcraft to keep you warm!
Tun Brewing Company may not have been going for long, but they have already produced award-winning beer, and founder Richard tells us all about how Tun came to be in a fascinating chat.
Oktoberfest may be winding down now, but there's still plenty of Festbiers around so we roadtest a handful to see if craft can compete with the original German examples.
Brew To Me features more Tun, this time Ten Tun Taphouse in Alton, Hampshire, courtesy of Dave B, while Dave D is drinking something bespoke, from Bespoke Brewery in Gloucestershire, to be precise.
Pints of View returns with a discussion on going out, is it still worth it?
All this and more on the latest episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast.
We're delighted to be backed by Craft Brew Festival, curators of a unique beer festival tour across Britain, and Mosaic Board Print, manufacturers of epic beermats.

Based in East Yorkshire, Great Newsome have been brewing since 2007 and are situated on a working farm. Director Matthew Hodgson talks us through how the brewery came to be, what changes they've seen over the past 18 years, and everything in between including how their beer is sought after in Northern Italy and Sweden!
Brew To Me features a trip to Newport and to Anglo-Oregon Brewing Company for Dave B, while Dave D is sessioning things with Blondies Brewery in London.
Ben Gibbs, aka Sober Boozers Club, pops in with the latest from the world of no-lo, while Will and Tim from the London Brewers Alliance join us for a chinwag as they celebrate their 15-year anniversary.

You might think we know a thing or two about what beer should taste like, but we thought it would be a good idea to get some tips from the professionals. So, join us on this special bonus episode as we learn how to taste beer like a pro, courtesy of accredited beer sommelier Jamie Percival and Chris Scott, owner of ThirtyFifty, who run wine tastings across the UK.
Jamie and Chris also offer courses for all levels on beer and wine tasting through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, and here they provide us with a snapshot of how to taste beer properly. This is a really different episode for us and hopefully one you'll enjoy too as we work our way through a selection of beers featuring Dark Revolution, Deya Brewing Company and Drop Project Brewing.

It has been hot, hot, hot, but the beers are still nice and cold for the latest episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast!
We enjoy speaking to all our guests, but every so often we have a chat to breweries where the enjoyment in what they do really shines through, and this was the case with Neighbourhood Brew Co. Based near Stockport, Jake and Corinne are very proud of their beers, and with good reason. Dave B was suitably impressed to place an order after talking, which isn't a common occurrence! They are a brewery to look out for, and have ambitions to get their beers into as many hands as possible.
Hype or Tripe returns with beers perfect for the heatwave, a pair of Imperial Stouts! Welbeck Abbey Brewery have dipped their toe into the water with two big boozy numbers, and we find out if they're up to the mark.
Brew To Me has another European flavour as Dave B heads to Chamonix courtesy of Big Mountain Brewing Co, while Dave D is closer to home with Mains Brewing in Glasgow. All this and more on Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast!

May is proving a big month for birthdays and Daftaboutcraft are here for another celebration in our latest episode!
Mysterious Brewing turned two by the time you listen to this and we spoke to co-founders and co-brewers Adam Sculthorpe and Ken Adams to get the lowdown on what they had planned for the big day plus everything that has happened since they launched. It's a great chat, and one that shows how you can grow a brewery slowly and organically.
Turning Point Brew Co's excellent custard beers make a welcome return to Hype or Tripe. Dave D sampled them first hand at Turning Point's Falcon pub in York, for better or possibly worse, while Dave B enjoyed them in can.
Brew To Me features Booby Trap Brewery from Buckinghamshire and Bridlington's Belschnikel Brewery as both Daves enjoy some lovely beers along with perhaps one of the most informative voicenote contributions ever!

Daftaboutcraft - BONUS EPISODE - Coldframe Brewery Launch (May 2, 2025)
2025/05/02
Dave B and Dave D are waiting for your messages!
This episode is a special bonus, which we are delighted to release to coincide with a brand new craft brewery being launched in the UK. Coldframe Brewing is launching today, May 2, and we were able to talk to the man behind the project, Simon Court, just days before the big launch. Simon's ethos is to brew beers that are connected to the local area, in this case Cornwall.
Simon is passionate about creating and sourcing ingredients that are part of the local area and community. We sample the two beers that are being released today, and both feature unmalted barley, which provides a different taste experience, and is something Simon has perfected for Coldframe following months of research and experimentation.
If you are able to get down to Flow And Tracks for the big launch in Lostwithiel then Simon plus previous Daftaboutcraft guests Ideal Day will be in attendance today and tomorrow for a special launch party, but if not don't worry as Coldframe beers have been released into the wild across the UK as well!
We're delighted to be backed by Craft Brew Festival, curators of a unique beer festival tour across Britain, and Mosaic Board Print, manufacturers of epic beermats.

Have an early Easter treat on us, its the latest episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast!
Sulwath Brewery have been operating for 30 years this year and were an amazing surprise to both Daves in our feature interview. Scott Henderson is the third generation of the family to be involved in the brewery and he got in touch having listened to previous episodes. If you want classic beers brewed to an exceptionally high standard, Sulwath are for you.
When was the last time you had a beer from Vocation? Dave and Dave hadn't had one for a long time, but put that right in Pints Of View, as Hebden Bridge's finest square off against Briarbank Brewery from Ipswich and Conwy Brewery from Colwyn Bay.
Two trips to the seaside are the order of the day for our Brew To Me feature as we try beers for the first time from Morecambe Bay-based Accidental Brewery and Fat Head Brewery from Weston Super-Mare.
All this and more in the latest episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast!

Easter may not be quite here yet, but that doesn't mean you can't have a treat, go on, indulge yourself, it's another episode of Daftaboutcraft!
We love finding out about the people behind the beer, and in James and Nia Rylance, aka Ideal Day Family Brewery from Cornwall, there's a great story to be told. James will probably be able to forget more about beer than most people will ever learn, having been around the scene for a long time - and he has a fascinating story to tell. Now working as Ideal Day alongside wife Nia, the pair are putting out some excellent beers that are traditionally rooted but with modern twists.
Some listeners may find Pints Of View contains upsetting scenes as we give Tiny Rebel's Clwb Tropica the onceover after many years spent not drinking it. Warning, it does not go well. But we do find some lovely alternatives from Neckstamper Brewing and Zulu Alpha Brewing.
Meanwhile, Brew To Me features a pair of beauties, courtesy of Bluntrock Brewery and Lyme Regis Brewery. All this and more in the latest episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast!
We're delighted to be backed by Craft Brew Festival, curators of unique beer festival experiences across Britain, and Mosaic Board Print, manufacturers of epic beermats.

Spring has just about sprung and it's time for another hit of your favourite craft beer podcast, Daftaboutcraft, THE craft beer podcast!
Rewind to 2024 and both Daves were blown away by a new brewery putting out excellent pales. Dark Element Brew Co proved the hype was real with a stunning first year of brewing, and the man behind the magic, Tom Kendall, joins us to discuss how the year has been, as well as enjoying some birthday beers to mark the occasion!
Another brewery celebrating a milestone is Cloudwater, who have turned ten this year. To mark the occasion, the Manchester giants have put out six birthday beers. Are they hype, or are they tripe? There's only one way to find out . . .
Brew To Me takes in a trip to Lancashire with Turtle Head Brewing Company, who not only brew good beer, but donate to charity and have a very moving story to tell. Our Brewery may have featured on a previous episode, but Dave B hadn't tried their beers, until now!

Daftaboutcraft - Episode 68.5 (January 28, 2025)
2025/01/28
Dave B and Dave D are waiting for your messages!
Not one but two episodes to start the year and, after chatting to Ben Gibbs, aka Sober Boozers Club, we felt it was only right to give him his own episode.
Ben's story on how he overcame alcoholism and has become an authority on alcohol-free craft beer is inspiring, fascinating and unflinching in equal measure.
The craft beer scene has caught up to making quality alcohol-free beer and in some part that is due to people like Ben, who have championed the cause.
For a different, and eye-opening chat, make sure to give this a listen.
We're delighted to be backed by Craft Brew Festival, curators of unique beer festival experiences across Britain, and Mosaic Board Print, manufacturers of epic beermats.
