Perimenopause Weight Gain Won't Stop Until You Fix This
2026/09/28
Are you eating less, trying harder, and still watching your waistline change?
Perimenopause weight gain can feel incredibly frustrating—especially when the familiar advice to "eat less and move more" no longer seems to work. But this isn't simply a matter of willpower.
As estrogen fluctuates, changes in sleep, stress, muscle mass, appetite, fat distribution, and insulin sensitivity can all affect the way your body uses and stores energy. Restrictive dieting, skipped meals, poor sleep, and intense exercise can sometimes leave you feeling even more exhausted, hungry, and discouraged.
In this episode of Tea & Truth, Lynne explains the often-overlooked connection between blood sugar, insulin, cortisol, sleep, and midlife weight changes. More importantly, she shares three gentle, realistic shifts that can support steadier energy and better metabolic health—without another punishing diet.
You'll discover:
Why eating less isn't always the answer to perimenopause weight gain How fluctuating hormones may affect fat distribution and insulin sensitivity The connection between disrupted sleep, cravings, energy crashes, and belly fat Why a protein-rich breakfast may help you feel more satisfied A simple way to build balanced meals without counting every calorie How a short walk after a meal can support blood sugar balance Why maintaining muscle becomes increasingly important in midlife When persistent weight changes, fatigue, hair changes, or feeling cold deserve a conversation with your healthcare provider This episode isn't about blaming your body—or promising a magical fix. It's about understanding what may be happening beneath the surface and giving your body the consistent nourishment, movement, rest, and support it needs.
Grab your tea, settle in, and let's talk about a gentler approach to midlife weight balance.
Three Gentle Shifts 1. Anchor your morning with protein Build breakfast around a satisfying source of protein, such as eggs, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, salmon, tofu, or lentils.
2. Build a balanced plate Combine colorful vegetables, protein, nourishing fat, and a fiber-rich carbohydrate rather than concentrating only on calories.
3. Walk after your largest meal Even a brief, comfortable stroll provides movement your muscles can use and may support better post-meal blood sugar balance. Regular physical activity is an established part of supporting blood glucose and overall metabolic health. [Diabetes]
Key Takeaways Perimenopause weight changes are not evidence that you've failed. Hormonal shifts may change where your body stores fat and how effectively it responds to insulin. Sleep, stress, appetite, blood sugar, and weight can influence one another. Restriction isn't the only path forward. Protein, fiber, nourishing fats, strength work, and gentle after-meal movement can support metabolic health. Persistent or unexplained changes should be discussed with a qualified healthcare provider. Memorable Quotes: "You're not lacking discipline. You may simply be caught in a loop."
"For perimenopause support, we don't begin with punishment. We begin with rhythm."
"Movement in midlife isn't only about burning calories. It's also about maintaining the muscle that supports you."

The Myth of the Midlife Reinvention — Why You Are Enough Right Now
2026/09/19
Have you ever heard that midlife is supposed to be your "best chapter yet" and thought, "That sounds lovely—but must I figure it all out by Thursday?"
In this Tea & Truth solo episode, Lynne Wadsworth talks about the quiet pressure to reinvent yourself in midlife. Between changing roles, shifting energy, family responsibilities, and the everyday realities of menopause, even an encouraging message can begin to feel like another expectation.
Lynne shares a gentler way to approach this season: get curious about what matters to you now, pay attention to what supports you, and make room for joy without demanding a dramatic new life plan.
In this episode:
Why "make this your best chapter" can feel like pressure How comparison can make your own life seem less meaningful than it is Questions that help you notice what you want in this season Why your everyday needs deserve attention alongside your bigger dreams One small practice for letting go of an expectation that no longer fits A thought to take with you: "What would make this week feel a little more like mine?"
If this conversation speaks to you, come share what it brought up in the Energized Healthy Women's Club. And if you know a friend who's feeling pressure to have her next chapter figured out, please send this episode her way.

Everything Feels Like Too Much: The Truth About Midlife Overstimulation
2026/09/14
Does the television seem louder than it used to? Do clutter, crowds, constant notifications or ordinary interruptions sometimes leave you wanting to escape to a quiet room?
If everything suddenly feels like too much, you may be experiencing midlife overstimulation.
In this episode of Tea & Truth, Lynne explores why sensory and mental overload can become more noticeable during perimenopause, menopause and midlife. Hormonal fluctuations may be part of the picture, but disrupted sleep, migraine, chronic stress, mental load and the pressure to remain constantly available can also reduce your capacity for additional input.
This isn't about blaming every uncomfortable experience on hormones—and it certainly doesn't mean you've become difficult, impatient or antisocial. It may simply mean your brain and body are processing more than they can comfortably manage at that moment.
In This Episode, You'll Discover:
What overstimulation can feel like in everyday midlife Why sounds, lights, crowds, clutter and interruptions may become harder to tolerate How hormonal changes, poor sleep and chronic stress can affect your capacity Why the invisible mental load counts as genuine work The connection between migraine and sensory sensitivity Why overstimulation may appear as irritability, withdrawal, indecision or feeling "touched-out" Seven gentle ways to reduce sensory and mental input A simple two-minute sensory reset When new or persistent symptoms deserve a healthcare conversation Key Takeaways:
Overstimulation occurs when your brain and body receive more input than they can comfortably process. The final interruption may not be the real problem; it may simply land on top of everything else you're already carrying. Needing quiet or personal space doesn't make you cold, difficult or antisocial. Reducing just one source of input can help your system begin to settle. New, severe or persistent symptoms shouldn't automatically be attributed to menopause. Memorable Quotes:
"Sometimes overstimulation isn't your body asking you to escape your life. It's asking you to stop absorbing every part of it at once."
"You're allowed to finish one thought before responding to someone else's."
"You don't have to wait until you're at breaking point before asking for space."
"What could you turn down today—so that you can hear yourself again?"
"Feeling overwhelmed doesn't mean you're failing at midlife. Begin gently—with one less source of input, one clear boundary or one quiet transition in your day."

Stuck in a Midlife Rut? How to Reinvent Yourself | Tina Bernard
2026/08/31
Do you feel as though you've reached an emotional cul-de-sac in midlife?
In this uplifting conversation, Lynne talks with Tina Bernard, founder of The Badass Arts™, about rebuilding self-trust, interrupting old patterns, and recognizing that midlife isn't the end of the adventure. It may be the beginning of your most honest and fulfilling chapter yet.
_________________
Have you ever looked at the life you've built and quietly wondered, Is this really all there is?
You may have spent decades building a career, nurturing relationships, raising a family, and meeting everyone else's needs. Then midlife arrives, bringing changes in your body, family, relationships, career, or identity—and suddenly, you're no longer sure where you fit.
In this episode of Living Life Naturally, Lynne talks with Tina Bernard, founder of The Badass Arts™, about what happens when women reach what Tina calls an "emotional cul-de-sac."
Rather than seeing midlife as a plateau, Tina encourages women to view it as an opportunity to question the patterns they've inherited, reconnect with their inner wisdom, and create a life that feels more honest and aligned.
Tina shares the personal experiences behind The Badass Arts™, including her journey through an unhealthy marriage, single motherhood, financial hardship, rebuilding her life, finding love again, and leaving her corporate career to create a movement for women in their middle years.
Together, Lynne and Tina explore how women can move beyond regret, quiet their "doubt goblins," and make small but meaningful changes that strengthen self-trust.
Tina also shares four simple expressions of purpose available to every woman: love, laugh, labor, and learn. Purpose doesn't always need to involve an enormous mission or dramatic reinvention. It can be found in how we love others, make room for joy, contribute to the world, and remain curious about life.
This conversation is a warm and refreshing reminder that you are not your patterns—and it's never too late to choose a different response.
In This Episode, You'll Discover
Why midlife can feel like an emotional cul-de-sac The difference between living authentically and living according to expectations How major transitions can weaken—or awaken—your sense of identity A powerful question to ask when life presents a challenge Why a simple morning ritual can set the emotional tone for your day Tina's four universal expressions of purpose Why love is something we practice, not simply something we feel How curiosity helps keep us emotionally engaged with life Why regret and joyful appreciation struggle to coexist How old patterns develop—and why they don't define you The surprising power of making very small behavioral shifts How midlife can become a season of freedom, possibility, and reinvention Guest Introduction
Today, I'm joined by Tina Bernard, founder of The Badass Arts™, a movement designed to help women in midlife move beyond old patterns and create lives filled with more soul, substance, and sass.
Drawing from her professional experience, education, personal hardships, and lifelong fascination with the human condition, Tina helps women bridge the gap between what they know and how they actually live. Her work explores self-trust, emotional intelligence, meaningful change, and the tiny shifts that can transform a woman's relationship with herself and her future.
Welcome, Tina. I'm delighted to have you with us today.
Key Takeaways
Look for the gift or opportunity
When life changes unexpectedly, Tina suggests asking:
"What is the gift or opportunity within this challenge?"
This isn't about pretending that something painful is positive. It's about remaining open to what the experience might teach you or make possible.
Create a brief morning ritual
Before getting out of bed or reaching for your phone, pause long enough to decide how you want to enter the day. Even 30 seconds of intention can help you move out of autopilot.
Reconsider what purpose means
Tina believes we share four fundamental expressions of purpose:
Love: Act with care, compassion, and kindness. Laugh: Make room for playfulness, pleasure, and spontaneous joy. Labor: Contribute something meaningful and help make the world better. Learn: Stay curious about yourself, other people, and life. Remember that you're not your patterns
Your automatic responses may have developed through past experiences, but they aren't your identity. With awareness, commitment, and small changes, those patterns can be interrupted.
Memorable Quotes
"You are not your patterns."
"Between the mess we experience and the miracles we desire, there has to be a bridge."
"What's the gift or opportunity within this challenge?"
"Love is a verb."
"The moment we stop learning and our curiosity dulls, that's when life begins to feel over."
"If you're living in regret, it's difficult to live in joyful appreciation."
"Tiny shifts may feel as though they're taking longer, but when they finally land, your life is different."

The Truth About Menopause Weight Loss No One Tells You With Debbie Harris
2026/08/24
In this episode of Living Life Naturally, Lynne talks with Debbie Harris, an author, integrative nutrition health coach, certified hypnotist, and certified menopause coaching specialist.
Debbie shares her experience with lifelong weight struggles and explains why the diets and strategies women relied on earlier in life may stop producing the same results during menopause. She introduces her "freedom eater" philosophy, an approach designed to help women discover what works for their individual bodies without following rigid rules or labeling favorite foods as permanently forbidden.
Lynne and Debbie also have an honest conversation about the parts of menopause women aren't always encouraged to discuss, including anxiety, depression, rage, physical intimacy, pelvic-floor concerns, medication side effects, and feeling dismissed by healthcare professionals.
They discuss the importance of asking questions, seeking another opinion when necessary, and assembling a healthcare team that considers the whole woman—not simply one isolated symptom.
Most importantly, this episode offers a hopeful reminder: menopause isn't the end of your life. It can become the beginning of a freer, more creative, joyful, and deeply fulfilling season.
IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL DISCOVER:
• Why eating strategies that worked earlier in life may stop working during menopause
• How Debbie's 30 to Life Solution helps women recognize their individual food responses
• What it means to become a "freedom eater"
• Why one doughnut—or any other indulgence—doesn't need to derail your entire day
• A discreet cooling technique that may help when you feel a hot flash beginning
• Why pelvic-floor support can be valuable for bladder and intimacy concerns
• How menopause may affect anxiety, mood, and emotional well-being
• Why it's important to ask about potential medication side effects
• What you can do when a healthcare professional dismisses your concerns
• Why menopause care shouldn't be approached as one-size-fits-all
• How partners can better understand and support women during menopause
• Why midlife can become a new beginning rather than an ending

Migraines in Midlife: The Hormone, Food, Stress, and Weather Puzzle
2026/08/17
Migraines in midlife can feel unpredictable—but they may not be as random as they first appear.
Hormonal fluctuations, stress, disrupted sleep, skipped meals, dehydration, food sensitivities, and weather changes can overlap until the body crosses its individual migraine threshold.
In this deeply personal episode of Tea & Truth, Lynne shares what it was like to live with almost-daily, debilitating migraines. Her attacks frequently forced her to leave work, pull over while driving to be sick, and visit her doctor for injections when her usual medication couldn't control the pain.
Her turning point came when she attended a headache clinic while studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Together, those experiences helped her combine appropriate migraine care with a more holistic understanding of her triggers, eating habits, stress, hydration, sleep, and overall lifestyle.
Today, Lynne's migraines are far less frequent and are usually associated with weather and barometric-pressure changes.
In This Episode
You'll learn:
Why migraine is much more than a bad headache How estrogen fluctuations may affect migraines in perimenopause Why migraines may change before and after menopause The difference between an underlying migraine condition and an individual trigger How food, skipped meals, blood-sugar swings, and dehydration may contribute Why cravings can sometimes be an early migraine symptom How stress and disrupted sleep may lower your migraine threshold Why storms and barometric-pressure changes can trigger attacks How to track patterns without becoming fearful or overly restrictive Practical ways to reduce your overall trigger load When a new, severe, or changing headache needs prompt medical attention You may not be able to control every trigger—especially the weather—but understanding your personal patterns may help you feel more prepared, informed, and empowered.
Explore Lynne's Migraine Book
Lynne is also the author of Conquering Migraines: Your Guide to a Life Without Pain, an educational resource inspired by her own journey with debilitating migraines. The book explores possible migraine triggers and practical food and lifestyle strategies that may help readers become more informed participants in their care.

Tapping for Menopause Anxiety
2026/08/10
Why can old stress suddenly feel so much heavier during midlife?
Hormonal changes, physical symptoms, family responsibilities, work pressures, and years of putting everyone else first can leave women feeling as though their emotional "stress barrel" is overflowing. Sometimes the reactions we experience today are connected to stress patterns that were never fully resolved.
In this episode of Living Life Naturally, Lynne talks with traumatic stress recovery expert Dr. Robert Bray about the connection between emotional distress and physical well-being—and how Thought Field Therapy, or TFT, may help calm the body's stress response.
Bob explains how TFT differs from Emotional Freedom Techniques, commonly known as EFT or tapping, and how specific tapping patterns may be used to address different forms of distress. He also discusses the role of muscle testing, why learning to listen to the body matters, and how unresolved trauma can affect self-love and our willingness to care for ourselves.
You'll also hear Bob guide Lynne through a real-time crisis tapping exercise. Lynne begins with a distress level of approximately six out of ten. After completing the tapping sequence, she reports that the intensity has dropped to about two—and following a gentle eye-movement exercise, she describes feeling peaceful.
This isn't about pretending a difficult event didn't happen or changing the reality of the past. It's about being able to remember what happened while remaining more grounded in the safety of the present.
Today's guest, Dr. Robert Bray—or Bob, as he prefers to be called—has worked in traumatic stress recovery for more than 40 years.
His career began as a volunteer on a crisis hotline, and he has since helped individuals, families, and communities recover from natural disasters, criminal acts, domestic violence, and other traumatic experiences.
Bob has been teaching, writing about, and developing Thought Field Therapy since 1996. He's also the author of Heal Traumatic Stress Now: Complete Recovery with Thought Field Therapy—No Open Wounds, a consumer-friendly guide to understanding and addressing traumatic stress.
Today, we're talking about why unresolved stress patterns may become more noticeable during midlife—and how tapping may help create more
In This Episode, You'll Discover:
· Why unresolved stress can become more noticeable during midlife
· How emotional distress may show up physically in the body
· What Thought Field Therapy is and how it differs from EFT
· Why Bob describes stress as accumulating inside a "stress barrel"
· How previous trauma and hormonal changes may compound one another
· The connection between self-love and following through with healthy habits
· How tapping may help reduce the intensity of a stressful memory
· A real-time demonstration of Bob's crisis tapping pattern
· How eye movements may be incorporated into the TFT process
· When professional support may be appropriate
· Why struggling doesn't mean you've failed or that you're out of options
One of the most hopeful messages from this conversation is that you don't have to give up. If you're struggling, there may be more that can be done—and you don't have to navigate the process alone.

Emotional Eating Isn't a Willpower Problem — Here's the Truth
2026/08/03
Have you ever finished dinner, told yourself you were completely done eating…and then found yourself searching the cupboard for chocolate, cookies, chips, or anything else you could find?
You're not alone—and it may have much less to do with hunger or willpower than you've been led to believe.
In this episode of Living Life Naturally, Lynne is joined by life and weight loss coach and Havening Techniques® practitioner Nan Saysana. Nan helps women understand and change the emotional patterns behind nighttime overeating and binge eating.
Nan knows the shame and frustration of this cycle personally. She once spent much of her day thinking about what she had eaten, what she shouldn't eat, and how she could finally regain control around food.
Lynne also shares her own candid experience of bringing Cadbury chocolate home from England, hiding it in the freezer, and becoming fiercely protective if anyone else dared to touch it. Although humorous in hindsight, the secrecy, guilt, and feeling of being out of control were very real.
Together, Lynne and Nan discuss why food urges may be messages rather than the actual problem—and why curiosity and compassion can accomplish far more than criticism.
In This Episode You'll discover:
Why nighttime eating isn't always caused by physical hunger How pressure, stress, loneliness, and overwhelm can trigger food urges Why food becomes associated with comfort from an early age How guilt and shame can keep women isolated and stuck Why restriction and willpower often fail to address the underlying problem How repeated overeating can affect your trust in yourself Why Nan encourages women to become "curious instead of furious" How thoughts influence emotions, actions, and results The connection between emotional regulation and eating habits How coaching, Havening Techniques®, and hypnosis may be used together A simple way to check in with your emotions throughout the day Why small, manageable changes can create long-lasting results A Kinder Question to Ask Yourself After overeating, it's easy to respond with:
"Why did I do that again?"
But the tone behind that question matters.
Instead of asking from a place of anger, disappointment, or judgment, Nan recommends becoming a curious detective. Gently explore what was happening before you reached for the food.
Were you stressed? Lonely? Exhausted? Overwhelmed? Still carrying the pressure of your workday? Or were you trying to extend a happy or comforting feeling?
The goal isn't to excuse what happened. It's to understand it—because understanding gives you an opportunity to respond differently next time.
Try This Simple Emotional Check-In Choose something you already do several times a day, such as:
Turning on the kettle Washing your hands Filling your water bottle Walking into the kitchen Use that familiar action as a reminder to pause and ask:
"How am I feeling right now?"
You don't need the perfect answer. Simply noticing whether you feel good, unsettled, pressured, or overwhelmed can help you recognize and support your emotions before they build into an intense nighttime urge.
As Lynne and Nan discuss, it's often the smallest steps—repeated consistently—that begin creating meaningful change.

Meet Nan Saysana Nan Saysana is a life and weight loss coach and a Havening Techniques® practitioner who helps women end the cycle of binge eating and feel more comfortable and confident around food.
Having struggled with food herself, Nan understands the guilt, shame, and loss of self-trust that can accompany binge eating. She now helps women explore the emotions and thought patterns beneath their food urges so they can enjoy foods—including chocolate—without fear.
Nan lives in Paris and believes meaningful change can be simple, kind, and long-lasting.

They Removed My Ovaries & This Is What Happened
2026/07/27
Surgical menopause can happen in a single day—but its physical and emotional impact may last far beyond the recovery from surgery.
In this personal Tea & Truth episode, Lynne shares her experience of having a hysterectomy at 39 while retaining her ovaries, followed years later by surgery to remove them after extensive adhesions caused them to become wrapped around her small intestine.
She explains why a hysterectomy doesn't always cause immediate menopause, what makes surgical menopause different from natural menopause, and why women deserve much more preparation and follow-up support than a brief warning about hot flashes.
In This Episode
Lynne discusses:
The difference between a hysterectomy and surgical menopause What happened after her hysterectomy at 39 Why her ovaries later had to be removed Why surgical menopause can feel so sudden and intense Physical, cognitive, sexual, and emotional symptoms women may experience The grief and identity changes that can accompany surgery Why the age at which the ovaries are removed matters Hormonal and nonhormonal options to discuss with a provider Bone, heart, muscle, vaginal, urinary, and emotional health Practical lifestyle foundations that support long-term wellness Questions to ask before and after ovary-removal surgery Why advocating for informed, individualized care matters Surgical menopause isn't simply natural menopause arriving a little early. When both ovaries are removed, hormone levels can change abruptly, leaving some women to recover from major surgery while simultaneously adjusting to significant physical and emotional changes.
Whether your surgery is approaching, happened years ago, or you're supporting someone you love, this episode will help you better understand the experience—and remind you that you deserve information, choices, and compassionate support.

Normal Labs, Lingering Symptoms, and the Truth About Healthy Aging with Marina Moiseyeva
2026/07/20
What if some of the changes we blame on aging aren't simply about getting older?
Changes in sleep, energy, cholesterol, bone density, skin, mood, and metabolism can sometimes be connected to shifting hormones and underlying imbalances that began long before menopause. Yet many women aren't encouraged to pay attention until their symptoms become disruptive—or their routine test results finally fall outside the standard range.
In this episode of Living Life Naturally, I'm joined by Marina Moiseyeva, a board-certified family nurse practitioner and specialist in integrative, regenerative, and anti-aging medicine.
Marina believes that healthy aging begins with prevention. Rather than waiting for a diagnosis, she encourages women to notice subtle changes, understand their individual patterns, and work with qualified healthcare professionals to investigate what may be happening beneath the surface.
We talk about the important relationship between hormones and longevity, why "normal" test results don't always tell the entire story, and how sleep, stress, nutrition, movement, and emotional well-being can influence the way we age.
Marina also explains why women may benefit from paying attention to their hormonal health in their 30s and 40s—not only once menopause arrives. We discuss thyroid health, vitamin D, collagen, cycle tracking, and why the most impressive wellness technology can't replace the foundations of a healthy lifestyle.
This isn't about trying to stop aging or chasing a perfect hormone level. It's about becoming informed, asking better questions, and supporting your body so you can remain strong, capable, and engaged in the life you've worked so hard to create.
In this episode, we discuss:
· Why hormonal changes can affect more than hot flashes and periods
· The relationship between estrogen, progesterone, thyroid health, and aging
· Why prevention may need to begin before obvious menopause symptoms appear
· The difference between a standard reference range and an individualized assessment
· How tracking your cycle and symptoms can reveal early patterns
· Why thyroid results need to be interpreted alongside symptoms and medical history
· The roles vitamin D and other nutrients play in overall wellness
· Why progesterone changes may affect sleep
· How sleep supports hormonal, metabolic, and emotional health
· The connection between estrogen and collagen
· Why collagen support begins inside the body
· When biohacking becomes another source of stress
· Why joy, relationships, and emotional well-being belong in any longevity plan
· The difference between lifespan and healthspan
· How to become a more confident advocate for your health

Bone Density & Menopause: The TRUTH About Estrogen, DEXA Scans & Osteoporosis With Cindy Dupuie
2026/07/13
Bone health is one of those midlife topics that many women don't think about until a DEXA scan shows osteopenia or osteoporosis — and suddenly they're handed a prescription, told to take calcium, and left wondering, "Wait… is that it?"
In this episode of Living Life Naturally, Lynne is joined by functional medicine nutritionist Cindy Dupuie for an eye-opening conversation about bone density, menopause, estrogen, DEXA scans, osteoporosis medications, and why women need to become stronger advocates for their own health.
Cindy brings more than 20 years of experience in functional medicine, nutrition, digestion, thyroid health, lab work, and menopausal support. Together, Lynne and Cindy discuss why waiting until age 65 for a first DEXA scan may not be ideal for many women, especially because significant bone loss often occurs in the first decade after menopause.
They also explore important risk factors for early bone loss, including family history, low body fat during key bone-building years, eating disorders, intense athletic activity, long-term steroid use, low vitamin D, and other pieces that are often overlooked.
In This Episode:
Lynne and Cindy talk about why bone density matters so much for long-term independence, mobility, and quality of life. They also discuss why Cindy recommends women consider getting a baseline DEXA scan earlier than the standard recommendation, especially if they have risk factors.
You'll also hear about two important bone-turnover markers — CTX and P1NP — and how they may help provide a clearer picture of whether bone loss is being driven more by breakdown or lack of formation.
Cindy shares why resistance training, muscle maintenance, and certain types of movement can be so important for bone strength. Lynne and Cindy also discuss estrogen's role in bone protection, why the Women's Health Initiative study created lasting confusion around hormone therapy, and why individualized conversations with a knowledgeable provider matter.
This episode also includes an honest conversation about osteoporosis medications, including bisphosphonates, how they work, why they're commonly prescribed, and why women may want to ask informed questions about risks, benefits, duration of use, and monitoring before making decisions.
Most importantly, this conversation is a reminder that you deserve more than rushed answers. You deserve to understand your options, ask better questions, and participate fully in decisions about your bone health, hormones, and future mobility.
🗝️Key Takeaways: 🗝️
🔑 Bone health is deeply connected to independence, mobility, and quality of life.

🔑Risk factors such as family history, low vitamin D, eating disorders, long-term steroid use, and low body fat can matter.
🔑CTX and P1NP are bone-turnover markers that may provide additional insight into bone breakdown and formation.
🔑Resistance training and muscle maintenance are essential for supporting bone strength.
🔑Estrogen plays an important role in helping slow bone loss.
🔑Osteoporosis medications can be helpful for some women, but it's important to understand risks, benefits, duration, and alternatives.

Why You Can't Lose Weight in Perimenopause (It's Your Hormones) With Morgana Lakatos-Hayward
2026/06/29
If you feel like your body changed overnight in perimenopause — especially around your belly, energy, cravings, sleep, and weight — you are not imagining it.
In this episode of Living Life Naturally, Lynne is joined by Morgana Lakatos-Hayward, Certified Menopause Health Coach, bestselling author, and former 2x World Champion Latin Dancer, for a real and refreshing conversation about why weight loss often feels harder in midlife.
And spoiler alert: it's not because you're lazy, broken, or "just need more willpower." 💜
Show Notes:
In today's episode, Lynne talks with Morgana Lakatos-Hayward about the hormonal shifts that can make weight loss feel so frustrating during perimenopause and menopause.
Morgana shares her personal journey from the world of competitive Latin dance, body shaming, and extreme fad dieting to becoming a certified menopause health coach. After developing adenomyosis and turning to holistic health, she became passionate about helping women understand their bodies instead of fighting against them.
Together, Lynne and Morgana explore why the old "eat less and move more" approach often doesn't work the same way in midlife — and why hormones like insulin, cortisol, and estrogen can play such a big role in stubborn weight gain, especially around the middle.
They also talk about blood sugar balance, sleep, strength training, stress, diet culture, GLP-1 medications, cravings, and why supporting your body's foundations may be far more effective than hopping on the next restrictive plan.
This is a great episode for any woman who has thought, "I'm doing everything right… so why is my body not responding?"
What You'll Learn in This Episode
In this conversation, Lynne and Morgana discuss:
· Why midlife weight gain is often connected to hormones
· The role of insulin resistance and blood sugar swings
· How chronic stress and cortisol may contribute to belly fat
· Why estrogen fluctuations can affect fat storage in perimenopause
· Why skipping meals or under-eating may backfire
· The importance of protein, strength training, and muscle mass
· Why sleep is one of the most powerful "biohacks" for hormone health
· How diet culture keeps women stuck in guilt, shame, and restriction
· Why GLP-1 medications still require strong health foundations
· Simple ways to begin supporting your body instead of battling it
