This episode is the final podcast in our series of the lost letters of 6th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. This letter is unfortunately it was not signed and we have not been able to identify the writer. It tells the story of what happened to the 6th Battalion over 8 days in 1917.

The Storytellers chat about their memories of the health service

Hive Storytellers have been working with Cultural Spring to record memories of the gig culture in South Tyneside from the 1950's to 2000's. These stories along with photographs of the time have been used to help inspire new music created and performed by young musicians. In this podcast you can hear the memories, the young musicians and some of their music telling the story of the Gig Culture project.

In this special podcast, we commemorate the 6th Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers and 110th anniversary of the battle of St. Julien on April 26th 1915. The podcast features Lost Letters of the Battalion who were part of the City Battalion, they were one of the first territorial battalions to be sent into action in the Great War 1914-1918. It has taken over 100 years for this collection of letters to come to light. Discovered at a car boot sale by Robert Swan, they were passed to Hive storyteller John Caffrey, who has researched the men and their families. The letters give a unique insight into their thoughts and experiences. Introduction on the Script in Hand Programme, where the Hive Storytellers did their first ever performance. Award-winning author Lorna Windham, working with Community Arts Project North East, has taken the St Hilda’s Pit disaster as an inspiration and created an audio play based on fact but is a fictionalised account. This moving drama will be performed by an amateur community cast who are part of The Hive Storytellers Audio Drama Group.

The Hive Storytellers founder members met through Hive Radio in 2013. Though Hive Radio is no more work that was created is now in held in the storyteller archive. This podcast brings you the first Audio Drama created when Hive Radio was based at Bede's World in Jarrow, and was the seed that has flowered into the group we have become.
