Ep. 281 Macro Tracking 101: Learn Your Food, Fuel Your Body, Reach Your Goals
2026/10/28
In this episode, Dr. Halie is talking all things macro tracking and why it can be such a helpful tool for understanding your nutrition. Tracking your protein, carbs, and fats can help you learn what’s actually in the foods you eat, identify gaps in your nutrition, and better understand how your food choices support your energy, hormones, body composition, and overall goals. It’s not about obsessing over numbers or tracking forever, but using it as a tool to build awareness, make more informed choices, and find what works best for your body. Ep. 280 Pregnancy update, VCI misdiagnosis (Valamentous cord)
2026/10/14
In this episode, I’m sharing my experience with a misdiagnosed velamentous cord insertion (VCI) and what I learned from diving into the research.
In this episode:
-what VCI actually is, why some providers approach it as an anatomical variation that requires additional monitoring,
- how it can impact fetal growth in certain cases
-why understanding the difference between VCI and vasa previa matters,
-considerations around delivery and placental delivery
-the importance of asking questions and advocating for yourself when navigating a prenatal diagnosis.
My goal is to share what I learned, separate potential risks from worst-case scenarios, and encourage more informed conversations with your care team is so crucial for navigating anything that can come up in pregnancy!
Ep. 279 Low Ferritin: More Than Just an Iron Deficiency
2026/10/07
Low ferritin is incredibly common, but it’s often overlooked when standard bloodwork is considered “normal.” In this episode, I am breaking down what ferritin actually tells us, why it can be low, and why simply taking more iron isn’t always the answer.
In this episode:
What ferritin is and why it matters for energy, thyroid function, hair, hormones, and overall healthWhat I consider a more optimal ferritin range vs. simply falling within the standard lab reference rangeCommon reasons ferritin can be low, including inadequate iron intake, blood loss, pregnancy, and increased nutrient needsHow digestion and gut health influence iron absorptionWhy having enough stomach acid and a healthy intestinal lining matters for absorbing nutrientsThe connection between inflammation and ferritin and why ferritin can sometimes be misleading when inflammation is presentWhy low ferritin isn't always a problem of “not eating enough iron”How to support iron absorption through nutrition, including pairing iron-rich foods with vitamin CWhen supplementation may be helpful—and why more iron isn't necessarily betterThe bigger picture: looking at ferritin alongside other markers and symptoms rather than treating one lab value in isolation

Ep. 276 What the Colors on Your Plate Are Really Doing for Your Health
2026/09/09
We’ve all heard that we should “eat the rainbow,” but there’s a lot more to colorful foods than making your plate look pretty.
This episode breaks down phytonutrients—the powerful compounds naturally found in plants—and explains how the different colors in fruits and vegetables can offer different benefits throughout the body.
We’re talking about what makes blueberries blue, tomatoes red, leafy greens so nutrient-dense, and why variety may be one of the simplest ways to support your health through food.
What phytonutrients are and why they matterWhy eating a variety of colors is important for overall healthThe major phytonutrient families and the foods they’re found inRed foods: lycopene and their role in antioxidant and cardiovascular supportOrange & yellow foods: carotenoids like beta-carotene and their connection to immune, skin, and eye healthGreen foods: chlorophyll, lutein, folate, and other compounds found in leafy greens and cruciferous vegetablesBlue & purple foods: anthocyanins and their powerful antioxidant and cellular-supportive propertiesHow phytonutrients can support the gut microbiomeWhy eating the same “healthy” foods every day may not provide the diversity your body needsSimple ways to increase the variety of plants in your dietWhy food quality and preparation can influence nutrient availabilityHow to build a more colorful, nutrient-dense plate without making nutrition complicatedYou don't need to obsess over individual superfoods. One of the simplest nutritional strategies is to eat a wide variety of whole, colorful plant foods—because different colors often mean different beneficial compounds

Ep. 275 Fertility Takes Two-Mens Fertility Health with Roni Menashe Co-Founder of Wenatal
2026/08/05
Today we're diving into a conversation that I believe is long overdue. When couples begin trying to conceive, the spotlight almost always falls on the woman—her hormones, nutrition, cycle tracking, supplements, and lifestyle. But fertility has never been a one-person journey.
I'm joined by Ronit Menashe, co-founder of WeNatal, a company that's changing the way we think about preconception by putting equal emphasis on both partners.
After experiencing pregnancy loss despite doing everything they thought they were supposed to do—taking prenatal vitamins, eating well, reducing stress, and living a healthy lifestyle—Ronit and her co-founder, Vida Delrahim, began asking deeper questions. Their research uncovered two significant gaps: how overlooked men's health is in fertility care and how underserved couples are by the current prenatal supplement market.
That journey ultimately led them to create WeNatal, a clean, clinical-grade supplement line designed to nourish both women and men before conception.
In this episode, we're breaking down why sperm health deserves far more attention, what both partners can do in the months leading up to pregnancy to optimize fertility, and how a true preconception plan can improve not only the chances of conception but the health of pregnancy and future generations.

We're taking you behind the scenes of our journey to pregnancy, what those first few weeks were really like, how we found out, and everything we've learned while navigating the first trimester. We also dive into how I've adjusted my training and workouts, the supplements I've continued (and changed), and some of the mindset shifts that have helped me through this season. Whether you're trying to conceive, currently pregnant, or just curious about our journey, we hope this episode leaves you feeling informed, encouraged, and a little more connected to our story.

Ep. 272 Chiropractic care and the nervous system
2026/06/17
Your nervous system controls every function in your body—from how you move and sleep to how you digest, heal, and respond to stress.
In this episode, we're exploring the connection between chiropractic care and nervous system health, how spinal dysfunction can impact overall wellness, and why optimizing nervous system function is about more than just relieving pain.
Whether you're dealing with stress, tension, headaches, or simply looking to support your health proactively, this episode will help you better understand the powerful role your nervous system plays in your well-being and how chiropractic care can fit into your wellness routine.

Ep. 271 Raising Healthy Kids--The Nutrients That Matter Most
2026/06/10
Today I am joined by Dr. Abby Kramer a trained Chiropractor and Medical Director at Fringe Heals.
In this episode we’re talking about the current state of kids nutrition and why so many children’s supplements have turned into glorified candy loaded with sugar, dyes, artificial flavors, and unnecessary additives.
We dive into how growing bodies need real nourishment—not just trendy marketing—and the importance of focusing on foundational nutrition to support development, immune health, energy, brain function, behavior, and overall wellness.
This episode is all about simplifying kids nutrition, reducing the overwhelm, and helping parents better support their children’s growing bodies with a more foundational approach to health.

2026/06/03
Have you noticed your skin changing in your late 30s or 40s? You're not alone. As hormones shift during perimenopause, many women experience dryness, loss of elasticity, fine lines, increased sensitivity, and even breakouts.
In this episode, we're diving into the connection between hormones changes and skin health, why these changes happen, and how to support your body naturally through nutrition, lifestyle, and holistic skincare practices.
We'll cover:
How declining estrogen affects skin healthThe role of collagen, protein, and healthy fatsBlood sugar, stress, and their impact on agingMy favorite natural remedies and skincare toolsAging gracefully isn't about stopping the aging process—it's about supporting your body so you can look and feel your best through every season of life.

Ep. 269 Healthy Sun Exposure, Clean Sunscreen & Protecting Your Skin From the Inside Out
2026/05/27
Today we’re talking all about building a healthier relationship with the sun—without fear.
I break down why I focus on gradually working up to sun exposure, prioritizing early morning and later afternoon sunlight, and paying attention to UV intensity rather than avoiding the sun altogether. We also discuss how I personally use the dminder app to monitor UV levels, estimate vitamin D production, and better understand when the sun is strongest.
We also dive into my thoughts on mineral and tallow-based sunscreens for prolonged exposure, why I avoid the “burn now, deal with it later” mentality, and the nutrition strategies I focus on to support healthier, more resilient skin from the inside out.
Why sunlight is important for overall healthGradually building sun tolerance over timeWhy I prioritize early morning and late afternoon sun exposureUnderstanding UV intensity and vitamin D productionHow I use the dminder app to track sun exposure and vitamin DMy thoughts on prolonged sun exposure and sunscreen useWhy I prefer mineral and tallow-based sunscreen optionsNutrition strategies to support skin resilience and reduce oxidative stressPrioritizing omega-3 rich foodsMinerals and hydrationAntioxidant-rich fruits and vegetablesAdequate protein intake for skin repairReducing highly processed seed oilsSupporting overall metabolic health and blood sugar balanceNutrients like vitamin C, carotenoids, vitamin E, selenium, zinc, and astaxanthinThis episode is all about balance—respecting the sun, supporting the body, and moving away from both extremes of sun fear.

Ep. 268 Prenatal & Postpartum Nutrition-Women Deserve Better
2026/05/20
This episode dives into why women deserve a far higher standard of care during pregnancy and postpartum. Pregnancy is one of the most nutrient-demanding phases of life, yet many women are entering it already depleted, stressed, undernourished, and running on empty.
I discuss how inadequate nutrition may contribute to a more symptomatic pregnancy, harder recovery, hormone imbalances, blood sugar dysregulation, fatigue, hair loss, anxiety, postpartum depletion, and long-term health struggles beyond birth. This episode is about moving beyond the “survive motherhood” mentality and supporting women with truly optimal nourishment.
I also break down my top prenatal rankings and why quality, nutrient forms, choline, iron, methylation support, and bioavailability matter so much.
