While visiting Cairns, I had the opportunity to meet Ryan Donnelly from Resilient Reefs - an organisation taking direct, on-the-ground action to help safeguard the Great Barrier Reef against rising global temperatures and other mounting threats. In this episode, Ryan shares insights into the challenges facing Australia's reef systems and the critical work being done to protect and preserve them in the face of climate change. His passion and deep knowledge are truly inspiring. Both Ryan and Resilient Reefs are on the frontlines of grassroots reef conservation, playing a vital role in ensuring the Reef’s future.

Recently I was lucky enough to chat with Dr Paige Strudwick, a scientist working as part of the Future Reefs Research Group, and the Coral Nurture program. Paige and her colleagues are working in the field (and sea) at trying to understand ways they can assist with building coral reef resilience, to help fight against the ever increasing environmental pressures from global warming. Paige outlines some of the exciting techniques that she hopes will help sustain reefs, like the Great Barrier Reef for generations to come.
