A Dead Battery, a Cryptic Message, and a Broken Furniture Crash: Three Dark True Crime Cases
2026/05/15
On tonight’s episode, we investigate three disturbing unsolved mysteries and cold cases where the trail ended in silence—or with a haunting voice on the line. We deep dive into the 1975 disappearance of Susan Curtis from the BYU campus in Provo, Utah, exploring the chilling connection to serial killer Ted Bundy and the search for her remains that continues fifty years later. We also examine the terrifying case of Frauke Liebs, a nursing student in Germany who was abducted and forced to make a series of rehearsed, cryptic phone calls to her family before she was silenced forever. The episode concludes with the 1964 unsolved murder of Beverly Jarosz in Garfield Heights, Ohio. This suburban mystery involves a locked door, a blast of classical music, and a mysterious visitor known only as "Barbara" who arrived just as the life of a bright, studious teenager was being taken. These cases explore the heavy dread of unexplained vanishings and the psychological warfare of killers who speak from the shadows.
A Chick-fil-A Hit, a Farmhouse Massacre, and Mr. Hands: Three Dark True Crime Cases
2026/05/12
In this episode of Deep Lore, we explore three cases where the surface of ordinary life was ripped away to reveal something far more disturbing. From a clinical execution in a Tucson fast-food restaurant to a secret grave in a Lithuanian village and a tragic death that became an internet legend, these stories challenge our understanding of the people we think we know. We examine the physical evidence left behind: the grainy surveillance tapes, the cracked concrete, and the digital code that keeps these mysteries alive.
Join us as we go behind the headlines of the Thomas Piazza cold case, the Vajega family murders, and the Enumclaw horse sex case. These are stories of masks, hidden worlds, and the enduring silence of the aftermath. We look at the evidence that was missed, the laws that were changed, and the meadows that now grow over the scenes of the crimes. This is a journey into the shadows of the frame—where the truth is often buried in plain sight.
Letters, Bombs, and a Broken Cross: Three Unsolved Mysteries
2026/05/06
Deep Lore returns with three unsettling unsolved mysteries connected by anonymous threats, hidden identities, and unanswered questions.
In 1960s Tokyo, ordinary objects became instruments of terror when a mysterious figure known as Soka Jiro was linked to homemade bombs, threatening letters, a shooting near Ueno Park, and a subway explosion on the Ginza Line. Despite fingerprints, handwriting samples, and one of Japan’s largest investigations, the person behind the name was never identified.
In Circleville, Ohio, a small town was torn apart by anonymous letters accusing residents of secrets, affairs, and corruption. What began as disturbing mail escalated into death, paranoia, and a roadside booby trap involving a loaded gun. Even after a man was sent to prison, the letters continued.
And in rural Missouri, Marc Randall Fullerton vanished under deeply suspicious circumstances. His girlfriend claimed he walked away from a house while sick, barefoot, and wearing only black shorts. But Marc left behind his truck, wallet, phone, glasses, dentures, and a broken cross necklace his family says he never removed.
Three cases. Three mysteries. No clear answers.
Who was Soka Jiro?
Who wrote the Circleville letters?
And what really happened to Marc Fullerton?
This episode of Deep Lore explores the fear of being watched, the power of anonymous threats, and the quiet horror of cases where the truth may have died with the people who knew it.
Cases covered:
Soka Jiro / Kusaka Jiro bombings
The Circleville Letters mystery
The disappearance of Marc Randall Fullerton
Deep Lore covers true crime, unsolved mysteries, strange disappearances, historical crimes, and unsettling stories from the darker edges of real life.

2023/06/26
The Titan submarine, a feat of engineering by OceanGate, met a tragic end when it imploded 4,000 meters below sea level, taking the lives of its five-person crew. This devastating event underscores the treacherous nature of the deep sea. The ill-fated journey of the Titan to explore the Titanic wreck site ended in disaster. The search and rescue mission confirmed the catastrophic implosion of the submersible, leaving debris scattered on the ocean floor.
The dream of affordable deep-sea exploration turned into tragedy. Investigations revealed potential shortcomings in the Titan's design and construction. Safety standards and accountability of private companies were brought into question. The Titan tragedy sparked global discourse on the risks and ethics of human exploration. Pizzagate: The Dark Web of Conspiracy
2023/06/19
Pizzagate emerged during the 2016 United States presidential election, fueled by the hacking of John Podesta's email account and subsequent publication of his emails by WikiLeaks. Proponents of the theory falsely claimed that these emails contained coded messages linking high-ranking Democratic Party officials and U.S. restaurants to a fictional human trafficking and child sex ring.
We delve into the key players behind the propagation of Pizzagate, including alt-right activists, conservative journalists, and influential figures from outside the political sphere. We examine how social media platforms such as 4chan, 8chan, Reddit, and Twitter played a pivotal role in spreading the conspiracy theory and discuss the misuse of real events to lend credibility to baseless claims.
Our podcast also sheds light on the dangerous real-world implications of Pizzagate. We explore the case of Edgar Maddison Welch, who believed in the theory and carried out an armed attack on Comet Ping Pong pizzeria in Washington, D.C. We discuss the subsequent public reactions, the legal repercussions faced by those involved, and the broader conversations surrounding the responsibilities of social media platforms.

Was Sunny Sheu killed for exposing corruption?
2022/10/18
Sunny Sheu, who lived in Flushing, Queens, found out in the year 2000 that his house had been sold without his knowledge as part of a scam. He was able to fight back and get the thieves arrested, but the Mortgage Company wouldn't give him the house back. He took them to court, where, at least according to Sunny, Judge Golia didn't give him a chance to prove that he had been scammed.
Sunny was tired of not getting justice after 10 years, so he looked into the Judge's financial disclosures and found some problems. After he told them, he worried that his life might be in danger. Then, on June 26, 2010, a Queens man named Sunny Sheu was found badly hurt on a quiet street in College Point, NY. He was taken to New York Hospital of Queens, where he died soon after.
His death is still not clear.
