This episode is one of those that tends to define the series. It perfectly captures everything that I love about Doctor Who while telling an impressive and compelling story—using science fiction to explore the human condition and try and help us see the value that we all have in the world at large. A Doctor's journey to the center of the earth to try and prevent a terrible war. The discovery that, like humans, not all the lizard people are evil. But when you thought you knew where things were going, there's a crack in time and space, and things get interesting. Series 5 - Episode 9 - Cold Blood The amazing Eric Sweetman is returning from last week to help me wrap up this crazy episode.

While I may be still catching up to all of the Doctor’s adventures, the Doctor’s timeline finally caught up to mine for the first time. An episode set on my current year, or close enough to it. Of course, I can count on that nothing is as it seems. Series 5 - Episode 8 - The Hungry Earth. I need someone who can help me break this episode down and distill its purest essence, and that expert is none other than the amazingly talented Eric Sweetman.

Quite a mind-bending episode this turned out to be. It had me so perplexed that I’m thrilled I had an expert join me that not only knows what they are talking about but requested the episode. Otherwise, I would have come away from this episode with the completely wrong idea. Series 5 - Episode 7 - Amy’s Choice. The expert that set me straight in this week’s podcast is none other than the great Jon Soble.

I thought I was going to get a gothic Vampire Doctor Who stories based on the episode's title. As always, I was delighted to find out how wrong I was. I'm also glad that Amy is not going down the path I thought she was going down after last week. The latest confrontation between the Doctor and the Weeping Angles leaves me questioning my allegiance to certain characters. When I thought I knew what to expect, the Doctor, his companion, and even River Song went and made me have to think things over. When I think that I have figured out the Doctor, something happens to send me back to zero. With this new companion, I seem to miss the mark altogether. At least I know what to expect when it comes to “The Weeping Angels,” right? Wrong! m still getting to know what to expect from a new showrunner and a new Doctor. Not to mention that I also have to feel out a new companion. With so much newness, I’m glad that the episode falls back into very familiar territory. Series 5 - Episode 2 - The Beast Below While trying to understand all the new intricacies, I have to patch things up with a scorned Expert, who is a little upset about the change from tradition. Eric Sweetman returns while I eat crow but then helps me get into this new era in the journey of the Doctor Who.

What an exciting time. New showrunner. New Doctor. New companion. A new season of First Time Lord. After an appropriate amount of time after the final 10th doctor episode, I jump into this all-new adventure with some hesitation but a massive level of excitement. Series 5 - Episode 1 - The Eleventh Hour Since everything is new, we break the norm and start the podcast's new season with Jamie Kern as the expert. Considering her love for Matt Smith and that she describes him as Magical, I think we are in the right hands for the start of the 11th Doctor's adventure.
