If there's one character in Bram Stoker's novel Dracula as fascinating as the arch vampire himself, it's R.M. Renfield the zoophagous patient in Dr. Seward's mental hospital, who has fallen under the vampire's spell. But Stoker provides no explanation of how Renfield came to be imprisoned, nor of the origins of his strange relationship with his Master. Marty Ross's audio drama imagines a whole back story for the character - the story of a tragically ordinary Victorian shopkeeper, stuck looking after ageing parents and prone to a furtive fascination with blood.

. For the third year running, we hosted STAGE FRIGHT to launch the fabulous London Horror Festival. Three plays short listed and performed live to special guest judge Seth Patrick. First up we had Special Delivery by Elizabeth Adlington, which focused on a couple following the delivery of a rather unusual teddy bear. Next came Tears from the Pillow by Gabrielle Wright, a touching yet spine-chilling tale about a man in a coma (we daren’t reveal any more). Finally, Pete Barrett’s Forever Amber told the story of a cantankerous lord with a passion for taxidermy. The award went to Pete Barrett’s FOREVER AMBER, but you can listen to all three productions here.

Stage Fright 2013. Once again Wireless Theatre were thrilled to open the London Horror Festival by recording, live at the Etcetera Theatre, three short-listed horror plays; Valley House, The Skulk and Cool Head. The plays were then judged by horror royalty Kim Newman.

This original drama centres on main protagonist Zoe (Fay Downie) and the disturbing Kerry (Lexy Howe). Each week Zoe treats herself to a relaxing sauna, until one fateful evening she meets Kerry, a woman more obsessed with celebrity life than her own, and that relaxation is thrown into turmoil. Kerry is harbouring a dark secret but will it force Zoe to face truths of her own? Recorded by an all female cast in honour of International Women’s Day, Sweatbox is a darkly comic look at society’s fascination with celebrity.

A phonophobic history student makes a dangerous discovery in a dusty old book. Will he unleash terrible supernatural powers? How does his discovery relate to the history of the West End of London?
