WELCOME BACK! Lucille is out of town for ten big days and "Huggable Herb" is on the loose! If you're not Jennifer Marlowe, this information will not affect you. If you ARE Jennifer Marlowe prepare for a blizzard of lewd propositions like you've never weathered before! Jennifer is horrified...she can't do ten days, she just CAN'T! Bailey, of all people, has a devious "battle of the sexes" type plan. According to her, "it can't lose." She tells Jennie-poo to "go for it." Take old HH up on his offer. Go out with him! Play relationship 'Chicken'. Take it right up to the point where he veers off the road and cracks up in the tall weeds. Gotta happen...right? Bailey said so! Jennifer "goes for it". Les gets a scoop with his marvelous "Sneaky Snooper" (all the way from Battle Creek) and tells Herb to ALSO "go for it!" This battle will be fought with a halter top and straight bourbon. Hit 'play' for all the sordid details. WATCH ALONG DETAILS... [Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!! We highly recommend the 'Shout Factory' boxed DVD set of the entire WKRP series. For reasons you'll have to listen to in the "Prolog"  episode, all streaming versions of the original "WKRP in Cincinnati" have had the original music cues removed. Generic music beds and stings were used in place of the original music for the syndicated version of the series. 'Shout Factory' has been able to restore an estimated 85% of all WKRP music cues to the original "as-aired" content for their DVD release. They've also restored scenes that had been cut to shorten episodes for syndication. The original eps ran 25 minutes. The syndication eps were shortened to 22 minutes. Over 88 episodes that's more than four hours of lost content, including the performance by "Detective" at the end of "Hoodlum Rock." Get the COMPLETE series...get the Shout Factory DVDs. The Shout Factory complete series box has a release date of 2014. All individual seasons of Shout Factory disks were released starting in 2015.] The WKRP-Cast is a weekly re-watch podcast spending time with the original "WKRP in Cincinnati" which aired from 1978-82. WELCOME BACK! There has to be a reason for Herb. Sure, Johnny is leaning towards some kind of failed government experiment, but the real answer can probably be found in his parenting. If only we could meet one of Herb's parents... Herb's Dad is waiting in the lobby and it's none other than BERT PARKS!! This is HUGE, Jennie-Poo! We've got the lowdown on how Bert happened to be on WKRP right in the midst of his "Miss America" firing scandal. Plus, we take a look at the strangely quiet sound mix Shout! Factory decided to include in their DVD set for this episode. The jokes are there, but the laughs are missing. We're hearing the "no audience" early Friday performance with no reactions to any of the jokes!! It's WEIRD! Could I interest you in some classic Zuni Indian Jewelry? How about a toaster? You're right...toaster's are boring. Pull out a five and start the bidding, we've got Bert Parks, Herb snarks, new posters and NOBODY is talking toasters!! Hit 'play' and hop aboard the Herb Train...it's a wild ride! WATCH ALONG DETAILS... [Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!! WELCOME BACK! It's bring your little sister to work day! Well, not really...but it feels like it. Andy's been entertaining his kid sister, Carol who's been visiting Cincinnati for four days now. Kings Island is fun, but with your BROTHER? Maybe not. Andy realizes he's coming up short in the tour guide department. He decides to enlist the help of one of the smoothest and coolest ladies' men you'll find anywhere in the Greater Cincinnati area...Dr. John Fever. Hold on, you thought I meant someone else? A certain late night disk jockey with a silky voice and fantastic threads? It would make sense, wouldn't it? Andy doesn't see it. He bribes the Doctor with fifty bucks and tells him to meet him back at the station tonight. Venus and Carol have other plans that may involve roller skates. The pair ditches the station for a fun day in Cinci. Venus calls in to let Andy know he's going to need a sub. Art's on phone duty, and blows the message. Andy's getting REALLY mad about this situation and he's not sure why. It wouldn't be because Venus is...black? This is a deep and well-constructed script about subtle racism. It was written by Tim Reid, his first ever WGA writing credit. Not only do we go over Tim's story about the episode, we've got a BONUS: Allison Argo, who plays Carol, joins us to answer some questions and fill in a few details. It's a hilariously thought-provoking look at the racism that exists way below the surface. Sometimes only family can bring it to light. WATCH ALONG DETAILS... [Want to watch along with us? WELCOME BACK! The Sports Voice of the Ohio Valley is...WKRP? Art's got stars in his eyes as he hires former Cincinnati Reds Manager Sparky Anderson to host his new sports-talk show. A full two hours and, at some point, the plan is to take it coast-to-coast! Syndication! Huge profits and the unending accolades of mama...er, at least that's how Art sees it.  Sparky is a great guy...but not a great talk show host. It takes Art a few days to realize, but he eventually gets the sign from the catcher. Don't miss this very first script from the writing duo of P.J. Torokvei and Steven Kampmann. Derek's hungry, Sparky's going to the phones and Les is trying to undermine the whole thing. Grab yourself a second helping of fried sheep's brains and hit 'play' before Art fires somebody!! WELCOME BACK! Merry Christmas!! Stop looking at the calendar...it's Christmas in KRP-Land and that's all that matters. Remember how weirdly disorienting it was to come across a Christmas episode of a show in syndication?? It didn't matter if it was the middle of July...for half an hour, you got a little of the warmth of Christmas, no matter what time of year. This Christmas, the whole gang seems a bit edgy. Relatives are in town, travel plans aren't coming together and it's almost time for the Office Christmas Party.  Jennifer seems very invested in this year's party. Turns out, she's not going home for Christmas. The big office party might be her only chance to celebrate the holiday with 'family'. When everybody bails on the party after only 10 minutes, Jennifer is NOT happy. Could this possibly really be her ONLY Christmas celebration?? The evening after the big party, the gang is feeling guilty. They stop by Jennifer's apartment...admission: one Christmas Tree. Herb didn't get the memo. It isn't long before Johnny's downing another ladle of eggnog, Venus is trying to get the white out of his beard and Art thinks he's got Mama's Christmas Tree Conundrum nailed.  Got your shopping done? Good. You've got time to kick back, hit 'play' and pour yourself another eggnog...if you can get the bowl away from The Doctor. WATCH ALONG DETAILS... [Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!! WELCOME BACK! The entire news department at WKRP consists of a single man: Les Nessman. Truly, he is a paragon among men, a news stalwart who lets nothing deter him from delivering ten brilliant casts a day. Andy thinks it's time to shake things up a bit in the news area...against Les' wishes, and better judgement. They're reviewing audition tapes when a familiar voice comes through the speakers. Bailey Quarters has slipped her own entry into the stack, and Andy thinks having Bailey on the air would be a great idea! Les keeps pushing back, but to no avail. The new cub takes to the airwaves...er, at least she SHOULD be taking to the airwaves. Nessman doesn't think she's ready...then again, Nessman would be keeping Walter Cronkite on typewriter ribbon duty if it meant giving up a precious second of his airtime. WELCOME BACK! Something big has arrived in the mail at WKRP...and it's not Art's new Model Ships Catalog. The 'BOOK' has arrived. It's the ratings book...and, we discover, the very FIRST book since Andy's been aboard. Hold on...he's only been there six months?? Seems like a year or more, doesn't it? The Mighty 'KRP is UP in the ratings...first time in seven years according to AC. He's ready to break out the Champagne! Andy isn't quite as jazzed with the new numbers, but he doesn't want to rain on anybody's bubbly-fueled parade. Find out why the Skipper isn't pleased, why this is Bill Dial's last script, and the strange but true story of what Bill was up to during the season break! Carmen shows up at the station with a little bit of a crimp in the plans. Turns out, she's pregnant. It might have been the Kiwanis Dance, but all signs are pointing towards Superman as the culprit. Mama shows up and things get a bit heavy when she lays out what she sees as Art's course of action. Art's in a daze, Venus hasn't talked to a soul and the Champagne is cold. WELCOME BACK! It's a natural progression for many business executives: once you've conquered the business world, it's time to conquer the world of politics. Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson of WKRP Radio in Cincinnati is one such business executive. Art's been bitten by the political bug! He's ready to steer Cincinnati in the right direction as an esteemed member of the Queen City's Council. Current incumbent Charles "Chuck" Tillman isn't delivering the goods in Art's eyes. He's missing meetings, missing votes and generally NOT doing the job he was elected to do. According to Bailey's old college roommate, Chuck's lack of participation might have something to do with his drinking. Drinking?! That's a bombshell!! But, come on, they can't use something like that!! Even Bailey, who delivered this news, said they can't use something like that (so, hmmm...why did she SAY it?) There's general agreement it shouldn't be used (Herb's not so sure). Unfortunately, saying you won't use it is one thing...knowing that bit of information while in the heat of the debate proves too tempting. Art blurts it out in anger. Les is getting down in the muck on the phone, Jennifer is racking up the campaign contributions and Mitzi wants to get that stain out!! Haven't voted lately? It's time to cast YOUR vote for Arthur C. Carlson...paid for by The Committee to Elect Carlson...Herbert R. Tarlek, Chairman. Now, do your civic duty and push "play."  WATCH ALONG DETAILS... [Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!! WELCOME BACK! Jennifer is gorgeous, cool, aloof, in control and well-to-do.  Who could possibly rock her world? His name is "Steel" and, to hear her tell it, he's every girl's dream. It's not until we meet Mr. Night Maintenance  we discover he might be lacking in the depth department. Steel definitely has the teeth, the hair and the, uh...derriere...to drive the ladies wild, but the pretty package is very empty. Vapid and self-centered are acceptable to Jennifer. Lecherous and sponging off her for money...that's another matter. When Steel needs two hundred dollars to fix his van, he discovers Jennifer is nobody's Sugar Mama. Art's ready to step up with a sound thrashing...if only his shoulder was willing. Jennifer tosses Steel out. She'll have to go home alone with nothing but her microwaves and acoustical ceiling to keep her company. You're going to want to go another round with the whitener, maybe do a few crunches, now let's hit "play" and enjoy the pretty people.    WATCH ALONG DETAILS... [Want to watch along with us? WELCOME BACK! You're probably asking yourself "am I planning for every eventuality?" What's that? You're NOT? You really should be talking to Herbert R. Tarlek, Esquire. Mr. Tarlek is now representing one of the most prestigious Insurance Companies in North America. You've never heard of them, but they 've been featured on "60 Minutes" TWICE! 'The Monster Who Sold Life Insurance' has run amok in the halls of the Mighty KRP! Fellow employees are fish in a barrel to Herbert.  Les is no match for the Monster's persuasive powers. He buys  EVERYTHING, including Herb's boat, and he and gets the envelope in the mail! If he hadn't, he might not have been covered in the event of massive Scooter mayhem! Isn't it time for tea? Art wants to have another look at those policies and Les is heading for the hospital. Cinch up your helmet and put on your news poncho. We've got tea to drink and a boat on our tail!! Push 'play'...then, DUCK!! WATCH ALONG DETAILS... [Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!! We highly recommend the 'Shout Factory' boxed DVD set of the entire WKRP series. [THIS IS A RE-RUN OF A PREVIOUSLY RELEASED PODCAST. ENJOY THIS ENCORE PRESENTATION!!] WELCOME BACK!  What's a Sports Director to do? Les was challenged by WPIG, the Number One Station in the market, to a Softball game. The problem is, they're good...beat the Baptists, good. No way Les can back out now. He shook on it! He ALSO bet $200, which might carry more weight than the handshake. Jennifer says she'll play. Once the guys hear she plans to play in her new red short-shorts, suddenly Les has a team. The PIG's good, Station Manager Callahan is a jerk and Andy has the guns greased up to a high shine. Please bow and uncover as Bailey, the most wholesome among us, pleads for a little mercy.  Once we "play ball!" the Mighty KRP lays it all on the line. "Moose" Carlson comes alive in the 7th and the gang has a HECK of a day out at Shadow Ranch Park. Grab your peanuts and Cracker Jack...you might also want a little sunscreen (if Andy left any, that is)...and push 'play'.  If Pete Rose were a bettin' man, he'd probably take a little action  on this one.  WATCH ALONG DETAILS... [THIS IS A RE-RUN OF A PREVIOUSLY RELEASED PODCAST. ENJOY THIS ENCORE PRESENTATION!!] WELCOME BACK!  Deja vu! It's Part Two of the start of Season TWO!! We spend the entire cold open reminding you about what happened last week...but don't skip it! They slip in a new line, and possibly a historic station designation!! Once we've got everyone who missed last week up to speed, we hit the ground running...er, sitting...with Bailey still in the station. She's doing some adorable  fretting about being stood up by Johnny. Meanwhile, Johnny is dealing with the fallout from Hurricane Buffy. He's going to get sued!! The man who has NOTHING is about to get sued! The evening continues...it's turning out to be almost as long as that version of "After the Love Has Gone" Venus was playing. Buffy continues to be as crazy as a loon, Johnny isn't feeling so good and the Sherry is running low!! Come on over!! But please knock, the doorbell costs a fortune. It's time to push 'play' fellow babies...the Two Part Season TWO Odyssey Continues.  I need some headache powder... WATCH ALONG DETAILS... [Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!!
