Back To The Future Part III Revisited
2026/09/26
Send us Fan Mail Marty McFly in the Wild West sounds like a gimmick until you rewatch Back to the Future Part III and realize it’s doing something the trilogy hadn’t tried yet: slowing down. We talk through why that pace shift matters, how the 1885 setting changes the whole vibe, and why Part III might be more satisfying than people give it credit for, even when the villains get a little more camp and the characters feel a bit more like heightened versions of themselves.  Before we saddle up, we also catch up on real-world nerd life: Anthony’s been deep in Final Fantasy demos and Nintendo news, Dakota’s building an app that maps fictional events to real calendar dates across movies and TV, and Rich is balancing Comic Con costume plans with hype for Insomniac’s Wolverine and some very “dad-brain” thoughts about GTA. It’s a fun lead-in because it connects to the bigger theme: what makes entertainment feel joyful instead of cynical.  Then we get into the good stuff: the 1955 setup, Doc’s letter, Marty’s jump to 1885, the “gasoline hasn’t been invented” problem, and that iconic push to hit 88 miles per hour. We dig into Clara Clayton, the ravine name change, Hill Valley’s repeating family traits across generations, and the ending that still leaves one big question hanging: where does Doc Brown go next after rolling through town on a time-traveling steam engine?  If you love movie reviews, the Back to the Future trilogy, 1980s adventure movies, or just want a reason to revisit Part III, queue this up. Subscribe, share the episode with a friend who thinks Part III is the weak one, and leave us a five-star review. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest – Kraken, Chaos & Jack Sparrow
2026/09/18
Send us Fan Mail Jack Sparrow is back, and this time he owes Davy Jones a very big debt. We’re diving into Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and talking about everything that makes this sequel so much fun. Jack Sparrow, Davy Jones, the Kraken, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, and plenty of pirate chaos. We get into the movie’s wild action, creepy creatures, hilarious moments, and some of the choices that make Dead Man’s Chest stand out from the rest of the franchise. Is it better than The Curse of the Black Pearl? Does Davy Jones steal the movie? And just how terrifying is that Kraken? Grab your rum and come sail with us as we revisit one of the biggest pirate adventures of the 2000s. Green Lantern 2011 Revisited With Fresh Eyes
2026/09/09
Send us Fan Mail Green Lantern (2011) has a reputation that hits before the opening credits, so we did the only fair thing: we rewatched it and talked it out like movie nerds with long memories. Along the way, we detour through real life updates, including a genuinely wild parenting discovery where a single voice command and the right song can calm a crying newborn in minutes, plus a quick run of recent rewatches that reminded us how much style matters when a superhero movie commits to a look. Then we get into the main event: Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern Corps, and a movie that wanted to launch a bigger DC shared universe years before that idea fully solidified on the DC side. We break down what still works, including the unapologetically comic book scale, the willpower versus fear theme, and the fun of seeing Lantern mythology on screen. We also dig into what holds it back, like the heavy CGI feel, the infamous mask design, and a plot that splits attention across Hector Hammond and Parallax in ways that do not always click together. We also debate the big question people still argue about: is Ryan Reynolds miscast, or is the writing and tone doing him no favors? And yes, we talk Sinestro, because his “maybe we need stronger tools” angle is uncomfortably convincing for a supposed hero. If you’ve ever wondered whether Green Lantern (2011) is truly terrible or just a victim of timing, hit play, share your take with us, and please subscribe and leave a review. Mortal Kombat (1995): Flawless Victory or Fatality?
2026/09/04
Send us Fan Mail Mortal Kombat (1995) isn’t exactly a “great” movie. But man, is it fun. We’re going back to the 90s for a full nostalgia-fueled look at the movie that gave us memorable characters, ridiculous fights, and one of the greatest video game movie theme songs ever. We talk arcade culture, trading fatality codes, Johnny Cage’s ridiculous charisma, Raiden, Shang Tsung, and the things that somehow work way better than they should. We also get into the practical sets, locations, fight scenes, and why Mortal Kombat still has a charm that some modern blockbusters seem to be missing. It may not be perfect, but it absolutely knows what it wants to be. And yes... we’re talking about that theme song. Listen now, and TEST YOUR MIGHT! Nolan’s Odyssey Problem
2026/08/29
Send us Fan Mail Nolan turns one of the oldest adventure stories into a modern IMAX gut punch, and we have a lot of feelings about it. We start with some real life chaos, including newborn sleep shifts, late-night watches, and the odd comfort of slipping back into games like Final Fantasy when your schedule makes no sense. From there, we pivot into The Odyssey, the Homeric epic that basically taught Western storytelling how to build a hero’s journey, and what it means when a filmmaker as confident as Christopher Nolan decides to reshape it. We get into the adaptation choices that sparked the most debate: the tone shift toward horror, the Cyclops sequence that feels more nightmare than myth, and the Cersei transformation scene that is so disturbing partly because it looks practical and physical. We also talk about translation and accessibility through the lens of Emily Wilson, plus the bigger question of what changes are harmless trims versus changes that rewrite the entire point of the story. Along the way we argue about the missing “Nobody” energy, the way temptation and crew motivation are framed, and how a star-studded cast can either elevate a scene or pull you out of ancient Greece when the actor is too recognizable. The core of our critique is Odysseus himself. In the original Odyssey, he travels from boastful cunning to humbled survivor, and that arc powers the meaning of homecoming and even the roots of “nostalgia.” When the movie starts him emotionally “finished,” we think the journey risks losing its reason for being, even if the filmmaking is undeniably brilliant. If you care about Greek mythology, Homer, movie adaptations, and how the hero’s journey works when you change one key beam, you will have opinions right along with us. Subscribe for more deep dives, share this with the friend who loves Nolan or hates book-to-film changes, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show. Why Spider-Man’s New Life Hits Hard In Brand New Day
2026/08/18
Send us Fan Mail SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY — FULL SPOILER REVIEW Spider-Man: Brand New Day gives Peter Parker a fresh start—but that doesn't mean things get any easier. After No Way Home, Peter is alone, forgotten by the people he loves, and fully committed to being Spider-Man. We go FULL SPOILERS on what that new life means and whether Brand New Day really feels like the beginning of a new era for Tom Holland's Spider-Man. We break down: THE PUNISHER Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle gets plenty of screen time, laughs, and unexpected heart. We dig into his strange friendship with Peter and why Frank becomes such an important part of Peter's story. JEAN GREY Sadie Sink's big reveal as Jean Grey changes the conversation completely. We break down her role, her powers, and what her arrival means for the MCU's future. THE CRAZY STUFF Hulk, Damage Control, The Hand, Scorpion, Peter's organic webbing, and that wild post-credit scene all get put under the microscope. PETER PARKER'S NEW LIFE What's really going on with Peter's life after No Way Home? We talk about his missing day job, the Staten Island connection, his relationship with MJ, and the very practical question: how is Peter paying for all of this Spider-Man tech? Seen the movie? Masters Of The Universe 2026 Review With Nostalgia And Sharp Critiques
2026/08/11
Send us Fan Mail Is the new Masters of the Universe the He-Man movie fans have been waiting for? The 2026 Masters of the Universe movie takes a big swing at bringing He-Man into live action, but does it actually work? We’re breaking down Prince Adam’s journey to Earth, Skeletor’s very particular brand of evil, Alison Brie’s Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba, and the movie’s surprisingly weird sense of humor. We also get into the bigger questions surrounding the reboot: how much should it change from the original, why the box office may have struggled, and whether moving to Amazon Prime so quickly hurt its chances. And yes, we’re talking Orko, the final battle, the post-credits scenes, and that She-Ra tease. So did Masters of the Universe finally get He-Man right, or is Eternia better left in the past? Listen and find out. Multipass! Revisiting The Fifth Element
2026/08/04
Send us Fan Mail Bruce Willis drives a flying cab, Leeloo crashes into his life, and somehow McDonald’s is still around in the far future. This week on Project Geekology, we revisit The Fifth Element to see if this sci-fi classic still holds up. We talk about what makes the movie so memorable, from its unique futuristic world and practical effects to its unforgettable cast. We break down Bruce Willis as Korben Dallas, Milla Jovovich's iconic Leeloo, Gary Oldman's delightfully over-the-top Zorg, and Chris Tucker's scene-stealing Ruby Rhod. We also touch on the parts that haven't aged quite as well and why the film is still a cult favorite nearly 30 years later. Whether you're watching it for the first time or the fiftieth, join us as we revisit one of the most unique sci-fi movies ever made. Why The Legend Of Vox Machina Works As DnD TV (Season 1)
2026/07/28
Send us Fan Mail Animated fantasy gets thrown into a lot of different categories, but The Legend of Vox Machina stands out from the crowd. We break down Season 1, talking about its over-the-top action, surprisingly brutal violence, crude humor, and the emotional moments that make it all work. We also discuss how well the series captures the feeling of a real D&D campaign, from the established party dynamic to the moments where you can almost see the dice rolls behind the action. And yes, Scanlan absolutely steals the show. We also dive into the Critical Role roots of the series, Percy's revenge story in Whitestone, the Briarwoods, cursed weapons, vampire lore, and big moments like Pike's return. Whether you're a longtime fan or watching for the first time, there's plenty here to enjoy if you love fantasy, tabletop games, or character-driven adventures. The Sheep Detectives Are On The Case
2026/07/21
Send us Fan Mail A murder mystery where the sharpest minds belong to a flock of sheep sounds like a joke, until “Sheep Detectives” somehow turns it into a genuinely cozy, surprisingly satisfying whodunit. We walk through what makes the premise work: a shepherd named George (Logan) dies, and the animals he cared for try to piece together the truth using the logic of the murder novels he used to read aloud each night. It’s wholesome, a little strange, and way more nostalgic than we expected for a brand-new Amazon movie. We dig into the details that pulled us in, from the “orf” subplot (yes, it’s a real sheep disease) to the film’s comfort-movie pacing that feels like the era of classic CGI farm animal stories. Then we get into the performances and why the voice cast is shockingly stacked, plus how accents and character reads can either distract you or completely sell the emotion. If you love mystery movies that play fair with clues, you’ll want to hear who we suspected first and why the reveal feels earned instead of random. And we have to talk about the “Winter Lamb.” That storyline hit us hard, then we went looking for real-world sheep facts and realized the movie might be pushing our empathy buttons on purpose. It leads to a bigger conversation about why animal stories feel so comforting, how routines and companionship shape the bond between humans and pets, and why this film sticks with you after the mystery is solved. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, family-friendly movies, clever voice acting, or just want a fun Prime Video recommendation, hit play, subscribe, and share the episode with a friend. After you listen, leave us a five-star review and tell us: did you clock the killer early, or did the sheep get you first? Florida SuperCon 2026 Press Pass Recap And What Fell Flat
2026/07/17
Send us Fan Mail Something felt off at Florida SuperCon 2026 and I wanted to say it out loud, carefully and honestly. I’m Anthony, flying solo for this mini episode while Dakota and Jenn take time to welcome their new son, and I’m using this buffer week to catch you up and then dig into my press-pass weekend at the biggest comic convention in South Florida. SuperCon still has a place in my heart. I’ve gone for years, and that’s exactly why the small changes hit so hard. Even with a big guest list on paper, including names like Hayden Christensen, Rosario Dawson, and Charlie Cox, the experience didn’t always translate on the show floor. I talk about what it’s like when headliners feel hidden, when the panel schedule feels lighter than expected, and when the convention energy doesn’t match what you’d expect from a ReedPop event. If you care about fan conventions, Comic Con culture, and what makes an event feel alive, this is a real-world case study. We also get into the practical stuff that determines whether a weekend feels worth it: vendor variety, Artist Alley growth, booth costs that may be pricing creators out, and why the gaming area and space layout choices matter more than people think. I share what worked, what didn’t, and what I hope changes before Florida SuperCon 2027, especially for a region that doesn’t have many major convention options. If you’ve ever left a convention feeling both grateful and frustrated, you’ll relate. Subscribe for more Project Geekology, share this with your con-going friends, and leave us a five-star review if you want us to keep improving and keep showing up. Dungeon Crawler Carl And The Apocalypse Game Show (Book 1)
2026/07/07
Send us Fan Mail Civilization doesn’t fade out. It collapses at 2 AM. Anything with a roof becomes a death trap, and the only “safe” option is a doorway into a world dungeon run by aliens who package human survival as binge-worthy reality TV. We’re unpacking Dungeon Crawler Carl (Book 1, Floors 1 and 2) and why it lands as both laugh-out-loud comedy and genuinely unsettling post-apocalyptic sci-fi. We talk through Carl’s impossible starting conditions, the tutorial vibes that feel like a video game you can’t pause, and the moment the series fully clicks: Princess Donut becomes sentient and instantly starts working the crowd like a born celebrity. From there, we dig into the AI’s achievement system, the creepy humor, and the way the book turns “loot and levels” into a weaponized incentive structure. If you’ve been looking for a LitRPG recommendation or wondering whether the Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobook is worth it, we also get into what Jeff Hays brings to the narration and why the fandom treats it like the definitive version. The conversation gets real when we debate moral survival choices, including Frank and Maggie and the “kill or be killed” paranoia that the dungeon actively encourages. We also sit with the Hoarder scene and what it says about exploitation, audience complicity, and why Carl’s anger feels like the beginning of a rebellion. Finally, we geek out over Carl’s strategy and game-exploit thinking, plus standout supporting characters like Mordecai, Zev, and Odette. If you’re enjoying the show, subscribe, share this with a friend who loves dystopian fiction and game mechanics, and leave us a five-star review so more crawlers can find us. Godzilla x Kong: Kaiju Camp Done Right
2026/06/30
Send us Fan Mail Pink Godzilla taking power naps in the Coliseum should not work as well as it does, and yet here we are. We’re breaking down Godzilla X Kong The New Empire as a MonsterVerse movie that finally stops pretending it’s above the toybox and instead leans hard into kaiju camp, bold visuals, and monster character work you can read on a face and a stance. If you want a spoiler-heavy podcast review that treats giant monster chaos like serious fun, you’re in the right place. We talk story setup and vibe first: Gia’s strange dreams, the repeating pyramid symbols, and the Hollow Earth signals that kick the plot into gear, plus the kind of product placement shot that feels like a car commercial snuck into the edit. From there we get into what the movie does best, making Kong and Godzilla feel like actual characters. Kong’s arc with the power glove, Suko’s shaky loyalty, and Shimo’s long captivity give the action emotional shape, while Godzilla’s radiation-charging rampage and “if I fits I sits” nap energy is pure MonsterVerse comedy. Then we get honest about the weak spots: the lore dump and fast translation leaps, the thin worldbuilding for the Iwi civilization, and why the human plot sometimes exists mainly to move the monsters to the next set piece. We wrap with the big questions, our favorite fights from Hollow Earth to Rio, Mothra’s return, and the very real aftermath nobody wants to think about when a Titan gets shattered across a city. If you enjoyed this kind of deep-dive MonsterVerse talk, subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review. Godzilla vs. Kong - Giant Lizard or Big Monkey?
2026/06/23
Send us Fan Mail Two giant icons enter the ring, and the internet instantly turns into a tribal debate: giant lizard or big monkey. We’re Project Geekology, and we go deep on Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) with the exact mix this movie deserves: hype for the Titan fights, genuine appreciation for the best MonsterVerse worldbuilding, and zero fear of calling out the plot when it gets wobbly. We talk about why this film lands better for us than Godzilla: King of the Monsters, how the franchise keeps rotating its human cast like a baton pass, and why that choice creates a real continuity problem for Millie Bobby Brown’s character. Then we get into the good stuff: Kong’s unreal CGI and facial performance, the boat and Antarctica sequences that look shockingly tactile, and the debate over Gia, American Sign Language, and how believable it is that Kong understands as much as he does. From there, we follow the breadcrumbs into Apex, “bad vibrations,” and Godzilla’s rampage logic, then zoom out to the biggest MonsterVerse keyword of them all: Hollow Earth. We break down what the movie explains, what it skips, and why that hidden realm becomes the storytelling engine for everything that comes next. And yes, we give Mechagodzilla his flowers, because a mechanical Titan powered by Ghidorah’s leftovers is exactly the kind of sci-fi nonsense we can’t resist. If you’re watching along with the MonsterVerse, hit subscribe, share the episode with your Team Godzilla or Team Kong friends, and leave us a five-star review so we can keep going.
