Beth Nydick with Vanessa Coppes
2025/08/22
Breaking on our show: @vanessacoppes just dropped an exclusive on the September issue of @bellamediaco and let me tell you, it's a statement. Cover line? "AI Can't Do This". A direct clap back to @voguemagazine 's all AI generated Fashion Spread by @guess . And here's what you won't see in the glossy pages: Vanessa was sick to her stomach making this call. She knew it would ruffle feathers. But guided by prayer and conviction, she chose the harder road the one that protects creativity over convenience. That's what real confidence looks like: doing the hard thing, even when it scares you. This September, BELLA is planting a flag: fast isn't better, real is. And speaking of real… Vanessa is also launching a beauty line "Hello Gorgeous" with anna.bellehedges finally, a makeup line that's good for our skin, affordable, and easy to use. Because beauty shouldn't be toxic, overpriced, or complicated. Catch Vanessa's full take (and why this cover is more than just a headline).
Beth Nydick with Laura Belgray
2025/08/15
She's the queen of copy, the Tough T*****s truth-teller, and the reason half the internet finally sounds like real humans instead of ChatGPT. This week, I sat down with Laura Belgray—award-winning copywriter, founder of @talkingshrimpnyc—to talk about how being "lazy" can make you rich, why your quirks are your cash machine, and what even most of us get wrong about being ourselves. We talk about: — The genius behind "strategic slacking" — Ditching robotic, 'professional' copy for the stuff that actually sells — Why your "weird" is the most bankable part of your brand — And what to say if you think you're not interesting If you're ready to write like you actually talk—and get paid for being you!! Hit play, take notes, and then run (don't walk) to get on the "talking shrimp nyc" waitlist. That copy of yours? It's ready for shrimpclub.

Transparency, Being a Female Founder, and Creating the Movement to Shop Women-Owned with Vanessa Bruce
2023/12/14
Going behind the spotlight to meet Vanessa Bruce, co-founder + CEO of Dough. Vanessa is an award-winning, patent holding, founder, operator, and designer passionate about transparent commerce, driving change with our purchase power, and financial independence. Dough was founded when Vanessa and co-founder Anna caught up over coffee and chatted about the struggles of being a female-founder. The conversation quickly led to late-night texts sharing articles on the capital gap (can you believe women receive only 2.7% of investment dollars?), the pink tax (did you hear women get charged on average 7% more products like razors?), and spending power (wait, we as women control 80% of consumer-driven purchases?). The duo thought, "What if we could direct spending dollars back to women-owned companies to create economic equity?"   Beth and Vanessa discuss: How her family inspired her to create her own path Conscious consumerism Creating Dough Transparency and some of Dough's other company values How Vanessa balances family and business How Dough really embodies collaboration and community over competition What's to come for the brand And more!   Vanessa's work has been featured in Fortune, Bustle, and the New York Times as well as recognized by the Stevie Awards, Adobe Creative Jams and W3 – just to name a few. She believes in building a more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable community and volunteers as a mentor at Hack.Diversity as well as advises early stage DTC founders. She is a first generation college graduate, an alumni of Simmons University, a women's college in the heart of Boston, where she studied Design and Public Relations. A Sobering 1:1 Coaching Session with Claire Owen
2021/04/06
In this episode Beth hosts a 1:1 coaching session with Claire Owen. For many years Claire thought of alcohol as a release, drinking 10 bottles of wine a week. She enjoyed a party lifestyle but felt trapped in a vicious cycle of drink-regret-repeat. After losing her friend to alcohol at the age of 52, Claire had a lightbulb moment and decided it was time to take action however she struggled with society's portrayal of alcohol as synonymous with having fun.  Having experienced for herself the benefits of being sober, Claire is optimistic in turning the tide of popular opinion – to dispel the idea that sober is boring, that we deserve alcohol as a treat & that we need it to cope with our busy lives. She now helps others to reframe their perception of alcohol & to help them to discover healthier alternatives.   Beth and Claire discuss the pain points in Claire's business and where she feels most challenged, where Claire should seek media and PR opportunities, actionable changes Claire can make immediately, and a reminder that it's important to celebrate the big and small wins!    Connect with Claire: https://www.thesoberholic.com/
