Description
Old men are often said to have ”one foot in the grave” but those whose trust is wholly in Jesus Christ for time and eternity are not looking forward to the grave but to glory, for the Bible says that to be ”absent from the body” is to be ”present with the Lord”. At the age of 87, therefore, I have chosen this name for my new podcast which will feature videos of talks, comments and lectures about the Bible and science and also Bible expositions.

AUDIO; WHAT IS MEANT BY BEING 'CALLED OF GOD'?
2026/09/17
This episode expounds 1 Corinthians 1:26–31, explaining that church membership is a divine calling and not a casual hobby. Paul emphasizes that God chooses the weak and the unlikely so that no one may boast, and that Christ is our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. The sermon describes God’s deliberate shaping of local churches to glorify Him, and urges believers to live dependently on God’s grace rather than on human achievement.

AUDIO; BASIC EVANGELISM AND THE RESURRECTIOM
2026/09/01
In this episode we study Acts 17 and Paul’s approach to evangelism, first finding common ground and engaging in reasoned conversation and then preaching Christ with special emphasis on the resurrection. The resurrection is presented as a powerful, fourfold declaration: it proclaims the deity of Christ, the accountability of all people to God, the justification (purity) of believers now, and the future security of believers in eternity.

AUDIO; BACK TO BASICS, PAUL'S MARS-HILL MESSAGE
2026/08/29
Speaking to intelligent but idolatrous Athenian philosophers, Paul starts by seeking common ground by engaging their curiosity about religion, evidenced by their altar to the "unknown god". Having used this to show how he approached evangelising people with no knowledge of Christ, he presents three core beliefs without which there can be no salvation. 1) A triune God created all things by Christ (theism); 2) God continues to uphold and control the world in Christ (in contrast to deism and idolatry); and 3) God will judge the world through Christ. Modern evangelism should return to these foundational truths if it is to succeed.

AUDIO; WHICH BIBLICAL COVENANT SHOULD CHRISTIANS OBEY?
2026/08/25
This episode explores what Jesus meant by "the new covenant" when he instituted the Lord’s Supper, tracing its roots to Jeremiah 31 and contrasting it with the Sinai covenant of works. It explains how the new covenant writes God’s law on believers’ hearts, fulfills the promise to Abraham, and leads beyond forgiveness to membership in the eternal city described in Hebrews. Listeners are guided through key biblical passages (Jeremiah, Romans, Galatians, Deuteronomy, and Hebrews) to show why the new covenant is a gift of grace, not a contract of works.

AUDIO; FAITH REVEALS UNSEEN SPIRITUAL TRUTH
2026/08/22
This episode explores the biblical meaning of faith through Hebrews 10–11 and other scriptures, contrasting it with prosperity teaching and the idea of ‘blind’ faith. The speaker argues that biblical faith is rational, being supported by reason, eyewitness testimony, and divine revelation.
We see that faith is a supernatural gift that enables endurance, produces visible acts of obedience, and grows through Scripture, prayer, and community, giving believers hope, purpose, and confidence in Jesus' promises and return.

AUDIO; PSALM 73, COMFORT AND CHALLENGE IN A TROUBLED WORLD
2026/08/15
Psalm 73 traces Asaph’s journey from spiritual crisis—lamenting the prosperity of the wicked and feeling abandoned—into renewed understanding after entering the sanctuary of God (not a building but a picture of the bible). It highlights three movements: the psalmist’s complaint, his restraint from airing doubts, and his eventual comprehension through God’s presence. We see how Scripture restores perspective, teaching God’s sovereignty, our own ignorance, and the comfort of God’s continual presence, guidance, and hope of glory. The talk applies these lessons to real Christian struggles like trauma, discouragement, and neglecting the means of grace.

AUDIO; TELLING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REAL AND FALSE CHRISTIANITY
2026/08/11
We use the weed infested and good soils of the parable of the sower respectively to distinguish the false or nominal christian who has not been born again from the true christian who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit and lives in the power of that Spirit to live a life that glorifies God by faithfully serving Christ and trusting in him alone for salvation and eternal life. This is important for us today when churches are often filled with worshippers who honestly think they are christians but fail the tests of Scripture such Matthew 7:21
