Broncos Take Over SoFi Stadium! - A SIGMA SIDE QUEST -
2026/10/22
Broncos Country showed up in Los Angeles, and SoFi Stadium turned orange! We're wrapping up our first four Sigma Side Quests with the adventure that started our entire family trip: watching the Denver Broncos take on the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium! From scoring affordable tickets through TickPick and paying a ridiculous $160 for parking to taking advantage of the SoFi Plus Lounge, I break down our game-day experience, share some stadium tips, and explain why the cheapest seats aren't always a bad thing. But the real highlight? Watching Broncos fans take over SoFi Stadium and seeing Chargers fans head for the exits after a crucial late-game interception! With Denver securing a 23–17 victory, the atmosphere, celebrations, and friendly rivalry made this one unforgettable. The adventure didn't end there! Back at The Garland, Salina and I caught the Dodgers playoff game, enjoyed some drinks, and found ourselves in a hilarious conversation involving two L.A. nightlife spots: Footsie's and Jumbo's Clown Room. From football and family memories to unexpected laughs and a disappointing Dodgers loss, this Side Quest brings our Southern California adventure weekend full circle. Four Side Quests. One unforgettable family trip. And plenty more adventures to come!
A Spontaneous Birthday at Downtown Disney! - A SIGMA SIDE QUEST -
2026/10/19
What started as another afternoon exploring Southern California turned into an unexpected birthday celebration at Downtown Disney! In Episode 157 of Sigma Duocast, we're back with another Sigma Side Quest! After wrapping up our Little Tokyo adventure, the family and I headed to Los Cerritos Center to check out a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure pop-up. But when I realized my cohost Rudy was also in Southern California celebrating his birthday at Disneyland, we decided to turn a coincidence into a spontaneous meetup! We made our way to Downtown Disney, where we caught up with Rudy, Karen, Cesar, and Alfred over birthday drinks, delicious food, and great conversation at Splitsville Luxury Lanes. Sometimes the best memories come from the plans you never made! But the adventure didn't end there! After saying our goodbyes, we continued exploring Downtown Disney, checking out the latest changes, Halloween decorations, and shopping experiences. From finally creating our own Star Wars Galactic IDs at the Trading Post (and struggling to fit into the photo booth!) to visiting the Marvel and LEGO stores, we had plenty more to experience before calling it a night. Plus, I share my thoughts on Downtown Disney's ongoing transformation, Disney merchandise, and why it's always fun to return to the magic, even without stepping inside the theme parks. Sometimes the best adventures are the spontaneous ones, especially when you get to share them with friends and family.
Final Fantasy, Ramen & Little Tokyo - A SIGMA SIDE QUEST -
2026/10/16
Our latest Sigma Side Quest takes us to Little Tokyo in Los Angeles for a family adventure filled with gaming nostalgia, incredible food, and a few familiar stops along the way! This time, Rick takes the family to the Square Enix Café, where his longtime love for Final Fantasy and the Squaresoft era meets themed food, exclusive collectibles, and iconic displays featuring Cloud, Sephiroth, and more. From the Midgar Fondue Pizza and Dragon Quest Slime Pancakes to collectible coasters and specialty drinks, was the experience worth the visit? After exploring some of Little Tokyo's anime and gaming shops, including a look at the crowded Capcom pop-up, the family finally visits Tenkaippin, a Kyoto-born ramen restaurant they've been trying to experience for months. With its signature rich Kotteri chicken broth, welcoming atmosphere, and delicious food, could this be the best ramen Rick has ever had? The adventure wraps up with a visit to the newly expanded Kinokuniya bookstore and a few recommendations for anyone planning their own Little Tokyo experience. Two main destinations. One family adventure. And a 10/10 ramen experience.
Halloween Horror Nights: Our Family Express Pass Experiment - A SIGMA SIDE QUEST -
2026/10/14
Welcome to the very first Sigma Side Quest, a new series of shorter episodes exploring the adventures, experiences, and unexpected moments that make life interesting! After experiencing Halloween Horror Nights 2026 on opening night, Rick returns to Universal Studios Hollywood with Salina and their two boys, for another night of scares, thrills, and family fun. But with Unlimited Express passes costing $379 per person, taking the entire family wasn't going to be cheap. Instead of purchasing four Unlimited Express passes, the family decided to try a different ticket arrangement, spending a total of $1,056 on admission and Early Access. Did their experiment work? Was Express worth the investment? And how much could they accomplish in just six hours? Rick breaks down the experience, revisits the haunted houses to see how they compare to opening night, shares why Evil Dead moved up in his rankings, and explains why Stranger Things remains at the bottom. Plus, the family tackles the Terror Tram, enjoys nearly every available ride, discovers the magic of Flight of the Hippogriff at night, and reflects on the joy of watching the boys grow up and enjoy their own adventures. Was it worth it? Find out in the first official Sigma Side Quest!
I Survived Raccoon City! | Universal Horror Unleashed Las Vegas
2026/10/01
What happens when Halloween Horror Nights becomes a year-round experience? On this episode of Sigma Duocast, Rick heads to Las Vegas for his first visit to Universal Horror Unleashed at Area15—and the timing couldn’t have been better. It was the final weekend of the Resident Evil takeover. Rick breaks down the full experience, from exploring Raccoon City, solving interactive RPD puzzles, encountering Leon, Claire, Jill, Carlos, Nemesis, zombies and an incredibly convincing Licker, to surviving the T-Virus Trio at the Umbrella Café. He also takes on all four permanent haunted houses—Scarecrow: The Reaping, Universal Monsters, Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre—and explains why the permanent sets, controlled pacing and lack of the traditional “conga line” make Horror Unleashed feel completely different from Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. Plus, after finding much of the Resident Evil merchandise sold out in Vegas, Rick shares how his brother’s trip to Universal Studios Japan turned into a Resident Evil merch mission—and why Japan’s approach to giving fans a fair shot at limited merchandise stood out. From the houses and scares to the food, drinks, merchandise and overall atmosphere, was Universal Horror Unleashed worth the trip? For Rick, the answer was an easy 10/10—and now he wants more.
Six Years Later... We're Just Getting Started
2026/09/22
Six years later… and we’re just getting started. Rudy is finally back behind the mic as we celebrate six years of Sigma Duocast and officially kick off Year Seven. But before we take a trip down memory lane, there’s a lot of catching up to do. We finally revisit Rudy’s bachelor party in Hawaii—including a few stories that probably should’ve stayed in Hawaii—before talking about his wedding, married life, and some of our favorite moments from the big day. We even get briefly interrupted by a mission happening halfway around the world as Rick’s brother hunts down Resident Evil merchandise at Universal Studios Japan. Then we look back at the journey of Sigma Duocast: starting during the pandemic in 2020, the early years of the show, periods of inconsistency, reboots, different projects and guests, Rudy becoming co-host, and everything that eventually led to the biggest evolution of Sigma yet. Year Six became a turning point. Since March, Sigma has expanded beyond the traditional podcast into YouTube, short-form content, reviews, travel, events, experiences and more—all while putting out 30 episodes in roughly six months. We talk about what changed, what we’ve learned, the mistakes we’ve made, why we’re still doing this after six years, and what we want Sigma Duocast to become in Year Seven and beyond. Six years down. Same passion. Bigger journey. And somehow, we’re still just getting started.
Resident Evil (2026) - a sigma review -
2026/09/18
The new Resident Evil movie is finally here—and somehow, it might be one of the best live-action movies to carry the Resident Evil name while barely feeling like a Resident Evil story. In this episode, Rick breaks down his spoiler-free thoughts before diving into a full spoiler discussion of the film. From its gruesome creature designs and surprisingly effective scares to its clever recreation of inventory management, weapon progression, problem-solving, and the feeling of an everyday person being dropped into survival horror, the movie does an impressive job capturing what it feels like to play Resident Evil. But where are the characters, lore, Umbrella conspiracy, viruses, and deeper mystery that make Resident Evil what it is? Rick also digs into the film’s comedy, the protagonist’s surprisingly emotional journey, and why the third act and abrupt ending ultimately keep the movie from reaching its full potential. As a horror movie? A solid 8/10. As the Resident Evil movie Rick has been waiting years to see? We’re still waiting.
Ocarina of Time Remake | Did Nintendo Play It Too Safe?
2026/09/11
Nintendo is celebrating 40 years of The Legend of Zelda in a BIG way, and Rick and Greg have a lot to talk about. We break down our first reactions to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, from the completely rebuilt visuals and modernized gameplay to voice acting, nostalgia, and Nintendo’s decision to stay faithful to one of the most iconic games of all time. Is a near 1:1 remake exactly what Ocarina of Time needs, or should Nintendo have taken more risks and expanded Hyrule with new areas, quests, and surprises? Rick also reveals just how much Zelda 40th Anniversary gear he already pre-ordered, leading into a bigger conversation about collecting, preorder bonuses, scalpers, and whether consumers share some responsibility for missing highly sought-after releases. We also react to Metroid Ravenous, discuss the future of 2D Metroid and the possibility of finally remaking Super Metroid and A Link to the Past. And somehow that leads us to Super Mario 64. If Nintendo is willing to revisit Star Fox 64 and Ocarina of Time again, could Mario 64 be next? Greg has some VERY different feelings about Nintendo touching that particular classic—which creates a pretty hilarious contradiction with everything he just said about Ocarina of Time. Zelda, Metroid, Mario, nostalgia, remakes, scalpers, and way too many pre-orders—Nintendo has our attention and apparently Rick’s wallet.
USH Halloween Horror Nights 2026 | Every House Ranked + Is Unlimited Express Worth It?
2026/09/06
Halloween Horror Nights 2026 is here, and this year I experienced Universal Studios Hollywood in a completely different way—with Unlimited Express. In this episode, I break down and rank all eight haunted houses from least favorite to best, including Stranger Things, Sinners, Evil Dead Burn, KILLceañera, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, Hellraiser and more. I also share the story behind the best scare of the night, why some houses are significantly better after dark, and which house ultimately took my #1 spot. Beyond the houses, I cover FORTNITEMARES and the other scare zones, the Terrifier-themed Terror Tram, Death Eaters in Hogsmeade, food and merchandise, Early Access, and my first experience using Unlimited Express—including whether I think it's actually worth the extra money. And somehow, Horror Nights also turned into my first ride on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift during technical rehearsals. Was this the best HHN house lineup I've experienced? Maybe not. But thanks to Unlimited Express, it may have been my best overall Horror Nights experience yet.
I Built My First Fence... And I Think I Found a New Hobby
2026/08/26
What started as a much-needed backyard repair turned into one of the most rewarding projects I’ve taken on. In this episode of Sigma Duocast, I break down my experience building my first fence from the ground up—from spending weeks researching and learning on YouTube to demolition, digging post holes, setting concrete, framing, building a gate, and figuring things out when everything didn’t go exactly according to plan. I talk about the mistakes I made, the lessons I learned, the tools that got me through it, and the satisfaction of stepping back at the end and being able to say, “I built that.” But more than anything, this project gave me the confidence to take on bigger home improvement projects and may have unlocked an entirely new hobby…which unfortunately means I now have another reason to buy more tools. Sometimes you just have to do the research, make a plan, and start building.
Every Live-Action Spider-Man Movie Ranked | Tobey, Andrew and Tom
2026/08/14
After reviewing Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there was only one thing left to do: rank every live-action Spider-Man movie. Rick kicks things off with a quick taste and review of Tom Holland’s BERO Spider-Man: Brand New Day non-alcoholic beer before ranking all nine live-action Spider-Man films—from the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield eras to Tom Holland’s latest adventure. This isn’t about which movie is objectively the best. It’s about personal favorites, rewatchability, memorable villains, iconic suits, nostalgia, and which Spider-Man movies are simply the most fun to revisit. Where do classics like Spider-Man 2 land? How high does No Way Home climb? And has Brand New Day already done enough to take the #1 spot? Nine movies. Three Spider-Men. One ranking.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day | Tom Holland Becomes Spider-Man
2026/08/07
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has shattered box office records, and after seeing it twice—including an IMAX viewing—it's time for a full spoiler discussion. In this episode, I break down why I believe this isn't just another Spider-Man sequel, but a reboot, an origin story, and a love letter to decades of Spider-Man history all at once. We dive into Peter Parker's evolution, the Raimi and Webb influences, the surprising similarities to Insomniac's Spider-Man, the roles of Frank Castle, Bruce Banner, Jean Grey, Damage Control, and Scorpion, along with the film's post-credit scene and what it could mean for Spider-Man's future in the MCU. Plus, I share my theories on where Peter goes next after Doomsday and Secret Wars—and reveal why this has become my favorite Tom Holland Spider-Man film and possibly my favorite live-action Spider-Man movie overall.
Spider-Man Brand New Day - a sigma review -
2026/07/31
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially arrived, and after walking out of the theater at nearly 2 a.m., I had to share my immediate thoughts. In this completely spoiler-free Sigma Review, I discuss why this may be Tom Holland's best Spider-Man film yet, how it captures the spirit of classic Spider-Man stories, the incredible action, standout performances, and why it reminded me so much of Insomniac's Spider-Man games. No spoilers—just first impressions. A full spoiler discussion is coming soon.
Avengers: Doomsday Trailer | Why Didn't I Feel More Excited?
2026/07/22
The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has finally arrived, and while it looks visually impressive, did it actually live up to the hype? In this solo Sigma Review, I share my honest reaction to Marvel Studios' biggest film since Avengers: Endgame. We break down the trailer, discuss Doctor Doom's intimidating debut, Thor's return to form, the long-awaited arrival of the X-Men, Loki, Shang-Chi, and what Marvel chose to reveal—and more importantly, what they didn't. I also dive into the state of the MCU after Endgame, why I don't believe "Marvel fatigue" is the real issue, how the abandoned Kang storyline affected the Multiverse Saga, and whether Doomsday has what it takes to restore the excitement that defined the Infinity Saga. Finally, we discuss Marvel's new Infinity Vision format, the Avengers: Endgamere-release, and why I hope Marvel resists the temptation to reveal too much before the film's release. Is Avengers: Doomsday the beginning of a new golden era for the MCU, or are we still waiting for Marvel to find its next great direction? Let's talk about it.
Rudy's Bachelor Party | My First Trip to Hawai'i
2026/07/18
Join me as I recap my unforgettable first trip to Hawaiʻi for Rudy's bachelor party. What started as a celebration for one of my closest friends turned into an incredible six-day adventure across Oʻahu filled with breathtaking scenery, amazing food, unforgettable experiences, and plenty of laughs. From jumping off Waimea Bay's famous rock despite my fear of heights, to getting stung by my first bee, standing in the middle of Kāneʻohe Bay's famous sandbar surrounded by sea turtles, exploring hidden local spots, and experiencing Waikīkī's nightlife, this trip had a little bit of everything. Along the way, I share travel tips, fun facts, memorable stories, and why having a local guide completely changed the experience. More than anything, this episode is about celebrating friendship. It's a reminder that as life gets busier, opportunities to bring close friends together become more meaningful than ever. We traveled to Hawaiʻi to celebrate Rudy before his wedding, but we all came home with memories that will last a lifetime. Mahalo, Oʻahu. I'll definitely be back.
