And we discuss the significance of the Singapore government’s recent decision to re-name the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources to the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment. The UAE is often asked why it is on a renewable energy drive, and not how. Perhaps because of preconceptions of The Emirates of an oil-rich land that doesn’t need to diversify its energy production. In this episode with Masdar CEO, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi and Dr. Nawal Al-Hosany explore how Masdar, the UAE’s leading developer and operator of utility-scale renewable energy projects, is working to help the UAE realise its ambition of achieving a 50% contribution of clean energy to the UAE’s total energy mix by 2050, according to its ambitions under the federal 2050 Energy Strategy.
