ReStructured Summer Sizzle: Our Complex Relationship with Productivity
2026/09/01
Summer Sizzle is bringing back conversations worth another listen. This ReStructured highlight is all about productivity guilt and the pressure to always be doing more. Just because you didn’t check 25 things off your list doesn’t mean your day wasn’t productive. We’re revisiting why rest, reset time, and slower days still have value, and why productivity doesn’t have to mean constant motion. Sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is give yourself permission to reset.
ReStructured Summer Sizzle: The Art of the Strategic No
2026/08/25
Just because your calendar is open doesn’t mean you’re available. This Summer Sizzle highlight revisits one of our favorite conversations about the cost of a “misaligned yes,” why saying no can feel so hard, and how to protect your time and energy. Before you commit, ask yourself: “Am I going to regret saying yes to this in three weeks?”
Restructured, S2 E9: When Being Helpful Turns Into Being Taken Advantage Of
2026/06/09
In this episode, I discuss on building your identity around being the helpful one who always says yes, this episode is for you. I unpack the difference between being genuinely supportive and being taken advantage of, why both high achievers and “Sally”-style support rock stars burn out, and how a simple pause before saying yes can protect your time, energy, and worth. Where in your life are you being helpful at your own expense? Connect with Melissa on LinkedIn
ReStructured S2E8: The High Achiever Trap
2026/05/26
If you've built your identity around being reliable, dependable, and always coming through for others, this episode is for you. I unpack why high achievers struggle with boundaries more than most and why it has less to do with your workload and more to do with the story you've been telling yourself since childhood. I get into the double-edged sword of being the go-to person in your organization, why saying no feels like a personality crisis when your worth is tied to always saying yes, and how a simple pause can completely change the way you respond to requests on your time and energy. Plus, I share a story about my trainer that perfectly captures what it actually feels like to hold a boundary and why the discomfort is worth it. If you've ever played calendar Tetris just to avoid disappointing someone, this one will hit close to home. So here's the question: where in your life are you saying yes when you really mean no? ReStructured S2E7: Resentment Reset
2026/05/12
Resentment might be one of the clearest signs that a boundary needs to be reset. This week on Restructured, I’m talking about resentment, the kind that shows up when we’ve overcommitted, said yes to too many things, filled every inch of our calendar, and then find ourselves irritated at the people around us for needing something. I share how, early in my own boundaries journey, resentment showed up for me at work and at home. It looked like playing the “busy Olympics,” feeling like I was busier than everyone else, getting frustrated when team members interrupted me, and bringing that stress home in ways that weren’t fair to the people I love. In this episode, I discuss how resentment can be a boundary problem, why busy is relative, how unclear expectations can create unnecessary frustration, and why saying yes to things we don’t actually have capacity for can eventually turn into irritation, short tempers, and burnout. I also talk about what this looks like in leadership, including the importance of communicating expectations with your team, blocking off time you actually honor, delegating when possible, and recognizing when your calendar needs a reset. The Question of the Week: “What is my resentment trying to tell me?” If you’ve been feeling short-fused, irritated, overwhelmed, or resentful toward your team, your clients, your calendar, or even your loved ones, this episode is your reminder to pause and look at what’s underneath it. Sometimes resentment isn’t the real problem, it’s the warning light telling you it’s time to reset your boundaries.
ReStructured S2E6: Our Complex Relationship with Productivity
2026/04/28
Just because you didn’t check 25 things off your list doesn’t mean your day wasn’t productive. This week on Restructured, I’m unpacking our complicated relationship with productivity, especially the guilt that shows up when we aren’t constantly doing, accomplishing, cleaning, working, or crossing something off a list. I talk through the pressure so many business owners, professionals, and high achievers feel to make every day a “10” on the intensity scale, and why rest, reset time, and slower days deserve just as much value as the busy ones. In this episode, I discuss redefining productivity beyond the number of tasks completed, the guilt that can creep in during downtime, the hustle mindset that tells us we should always be doing more, and why a lighter calendar doesn’t mean we need to immediately fill the empty space. I also share what Sunday mornings have started to look like for me, how I’m learning to give myself permission to reset, and the question I ask when I catch myself thinking, “I should be productive right now?” The Question of the Week: “Why do I feel like I should be productive right now?” If you’ve ever felt guilty for resting, struggled to enjoy a slow Sunday, or looked at a lighter workday and immediately felt the need to fill it, this episode is your reminder that productivity doesn’t have to mean constant motion. Sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is give yourself permission to reset.
ReStructured S2 E5: Boundaries, Time, and Saying No
2026/03/30
Is your “yes” blocking your next big opportunity? In this episode of Restructured, Melissa and Bonnie share the day-to-day chaos of running a retirement consulting firm and a law practice, and how Bonnie’s people-pleasing tendencies made boundaries hard at first. They unpack the specific pressures many female business owners without children face, including assumptions that they should work more because they are not responsible for getting dinner on the table for kids. Bonnie explains how reclaiming time required learning that saying no creates capacity for the right projects, supported by realistic time blocking that includes basics like lunch. She also talks about pruning clients who no longer fit her evolving model and building a sustainable approach to vacation, such as working a few morning hours and skiing the rest of the day. The takeaway is clear: success is not about working 24/7. Bonnie also shares the creative process behind her new book, Your Retirement Sketchbook, which uses 125 sketches to simplify complex financial concepts through visual lessons.

ReStuctured S2 E2: The Art of the Strategic "No."
2026/02/17
Just because your calendar is "open" doesn't mean you're available. This week on Restructured, we’re diving into the heavy cost of a "misaligned yes." I’m walking through two real-life opportunities I chose to pass on—invitations that sounded exciting on paper but didn't fit the current season of my life. In this episode, we discuss: The Psychology of the "No": Why it feels so uncomfortable to set boundaries. Overcommitment & Guilt: Breaking the cycle of people-pleasing. ROI vs. Alignment: How to evaluate if a project is worth your energy, not just your time. The Resentment Trap: Identifying the bitterness that follows a forced commitment. The Filter Question: The one thing I ask myself before saying yes to anything. The Question of the Week: "Am I going to regret saying yes to this in three weeks?" If you struggle to say no when you technically have the "time," this episode is your permission slip to protect your space.

ReStructured S1E7: You Can’t Lead When You Can’t Breathe
2025/12/09

What starts as a social media connection turns into a real talk on the “boundaries journey” so many professionals face, especially in client serving industries. From CRMs as a first line of defense to scheduling after hours emails for the next workday, Jaime offers practical ways to protect your time and elevate your service. They also explore the deeper stuff: stepping away from your business to see how it runs without you, rebuilding identity when your worth has been tied to output, and embracing community over competition in a profession that is changing fast. ReStructured S1E6: Out of Office – The Art of Letting Go with Shannon Edwards
2025/11/25
On today’s episode of ReStructured, Melissa Terito sits down with longtime friend and fellow TPA owner, Shannon Edwards of TriStar, to talk about what it really looks like to build a boundary-first business. Shannon shares how she went from 300+ hours of overtime in a CPA firm and hauling bankers’ boxes on girls’ trips to closing her office at noon on Fridays, guarding her weekends, and actually unplugging on vacation (yes, with a real out-of-office that she honors). They get into the mindset shift from “I have to be available24/7” to “my team and my network can handle this,” why hobbies like golf and pickleball are non-negotiable for high performers, and how leaders unintentionally hold their people back by doing everything themselves. If you’re a firm owner, partner, or ambitious professional who struggles to step away from your inbox, this conversation will give you permission and practical ideas to protect your time without sacrificing growth.
