A remarkable exclusive interview and first hand account of the body recovery and salvage of the Potomac DC AA flight 5342 plane crash and the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. A true account of when regular commercial divers have to do the tough job of body recovery and salvage after tragic events in the water. This is a very important episode for divers to listen to before working a disaster in which loss of life occurs. It was very courageous of Glenn O’Connell to have a tough conversation with us in the hopes of helping other divers who find themselves in similar situations. It also highlights the often thankless tasks that commercial divers sometimes perform that are relatively unknown to the public. Please share this episode with everyone that you know. On January 29, 2025, a Bombardier CRJ700 airliner operating as American Airlines Flight 5342 (operated by PSA Airlines as American Eagle)[b] and a United States Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter operating as Priority Air Transport 25 collided mid-air over the Potomac River in Washington, D.C.. The collision occurred at 8:47 p.m. at an altitude of about 300 feet (100 m) and about one-half mile (800 m) short of runway 33 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. All 67 people aboard both aircraft were killed in the crash, including 64 passengers and crew on the airliner and the 3 crew of the helicopter. It was the first major U.S. commercial passenger flight crash in nearly 16 years since Colgan Air Flight 3407 in 2009, and the deadliest U.S. air disaster since the crash of American Airlines Flight 587 in 2001.

A great conversation with Brian Saxon about his company Rescue X and the importance of safety training for divers! They have an amazing product for extraction of a stricken diver from the water. This is in combination with the program that they have set up for how to care and keep the “window of viability” for life open. An episode on diver safety and a step in the right direction toward changing the safety culture of commercial and recreational divers. An important episode for both industries.

Saturation diving is cool? Great episode with Nick Gill, @gillygram18 on insta, he tells us some of the differences around the world in Sat diving. He also talks about how he started as a gulf diver. He attributes a lot of his success to what he learned in the gulf. A good episode that takes you into the life of a saturation diver working in places from the North Sea to India and everywhere else in between!

Recorded live at SHOT show! A great episode on ROV’s and the multiple ways the robits are taking our jobs! Just kidding, we talk about how ROV’s help make our jobs safer and help us avoid taking unnecessary risks with human lives. I mean let’s face it, the T-1000 is superior in every way. It’s a shame John Connor is not a diver, then we may have a chance to stop the Videoray Robit Army! Listen as we talk with Rob from Videoray Underwater Systems.

Recorded live at underwater intervention New Orleans 2024. Our first diver panel sponsored and hosted by Bottom Dwellers Media. We had a great time talking with seasoned dive supervisors including hall of famer John Roat of Mako Marine. We were also joined by Jeffrey Gazerack from Moffatt and Nichol, Troy Gessner of Integrated Underwater Services, Trevor Heintz supervisor for Orion Marine and owner of Pressure Junkiez wetsuits, and myself Armando Gonzalez dive supervisor with Moffatt and Nichol and host of the Bottom Dwellers Dive Shack. The panel was moderated by Ducky. The host of Dive Shack Confidential, another show from Bottom Dwellers Media. Ducky’s show deals mostly with the ins and outs of gulf diving. Make sure to tune into both shows! We had a great time and great conversation about what it takes to be a good dive supervisor.
